Rather, they chose the PDP and stuck with it for about 23 years. They only left the PDP in 2023 and moved to what some call “PDP-lite” (LP) because they genuinely felt it was their turn to produce the President, and the PDP seemingly wanted to deny them that opportunity.
What empirical evidence do you have to prove that Obasanjo was more competent than Falae or Ojukwu?

The two main and most popular candidates in 1999 were Obj of PDP and Falaye of AD,the choice of south west people was Olu Falaye of AD,the Igbo voted Obj just to spite south west and make sure Falaye didn't win by voting for Obj. Ojukwu contested for President of Nigeria in the 2003 presidential election. He performed very strongly in the South-East region, winning most of the vote there, especially in:
Anambra State and Imo State.
Buhari could only manage 122,000 votes from the South East. Do you assume OBJ the chief do or die rigger with the power of incumbency would allow anyone do a 90% on him? Ojukwu had about 1.3million votes still in the South East, stop claiming what is not except you were in kindergarten then.

Yar"Adua's plan was to hand over the refinery to private managers like you see in other countries. Not selling it for peanuts to Dangote as a decoy as planned by Obasanjo and Co. All those assets sold by Obasanjo, under privatization policy, how have they performed today.

The scam was subsidy.

The problem with subsidy was that refined fuel was sold at a price below the price of production. Everything else, including the corrpupion you speak of, has its origin in subsidy on fuel.
