Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, has died.

The singer reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, according to a statement released by his family on his Instagram account.

In the statement, the family identified him as Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji of the Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), describing him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister.

The statement read, “With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026.

“A dearly loved husband, family member, and gospel minister.

“Please keep his wife, family, and loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time.”

The family added that details of his funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.

It is hard not to describe this woman as a complete idiot. A normal human would send a complaint to the church first and exhaust that avenue before reporting it to the authorities to get justice if the church doesn't respond. It is after this that she can cry out online because, at this point, it would be clear that the church had no desire to undo the error. Imagine rushing to the internet to cry foul when there was no proof. Rubbish!

I dislike this tradition common to many Nigerian communities. Something is wrong with these celebrities. Why do they choose to just make careless, poorly thought-out statements that further stir tribal divisions? Just recently, Tekno made his own careless statement; now Duru has been affected by this verbal diarrhea as well.

We remember a lot of Igbo traders (no attack meant on the Igbo tribe) hawking pirated copies of people's work, while some of them also had major legal distribution businesses that helped movie makers make a bit of what could be made. Whatever effect these businesses had on the movie industry, it was not a coordinated attempt to build the industry as Duru is claiming; instead, the growth of Nollywood was organic/natural and more of a response by the players to reinvent themselves to circumvent piracy and improve their craft. So, for someone of Duru's caliber to make such an ignorant statement is quite disturbing and gives a possible view into the minds of others like him.

In conclusion, it is quite clear to see that Nollywood's stars (actors, actresses, producers, scriptwriters and all others), irrespective of their tribal origin, have built an organic community that should never be attributed to a single block
