Multiple people were shot Sunday when a 26-year-old gunman opened fire at a Baptist church in a small town near San Antonio, Texas.


Law enforcement officials are working at the scene of the shooting, but county commissioners have been told that more than 20 people were killed at the First Baptist Church on Sunday, County Commissioner Ernest "Skip" Hajek said in a telephone interview with the Los Angeles Times.
If true, the death toll would make the church attack one of the deadliest shootings in modern American history.
Sheriff Joe Tackitt told local media that the shooter, identified by another law enforcement source as Devin P. Kelley, 26, a resident of Comal County, Tex., was killed.
“The details of this horrific act are still under investigation,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement before he headed to join local, state and federal officials at the scene. “I want to thank law enforcement for their response and ask that all Texans pray for the Sutherland Springs community during this time of mourning and loss.”

President Trump authorized the release Thursday of a final batch of records related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy — but he agreed with the requests of certain federal agencies to keep some some parts of the documents secret.
The National Archives made public more than 2,800 files pursuant to the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, the latest move in a long process that has enthralled researchers and conspiracy theorists for a quarter-century.
"The American public expects – and deserves – its government to provide as much access as possible to the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records so that the people may finally be fully informed about all aspects of this pivotal event," Trump said in a memo authorizing the release. "Therefore, I am ordering today that the veil finally be lifted."
Other records will be held back for further review, and released on a rolling basis with redactions in the coming weeks, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
Trump's memo says some agencies worried the release of some details would hurt U.S. national security, law enforcement, and foreign affairs.
