My father bought some shares before I was born, among which is Nigerian Breweries PLC shares. While alive he was cashing the dividends on monthly basis, but now he's dead. Because of the fact that my siblings and I were still very young when he died, we didn't quite follow up on those shares and he never got the oppurtunity to put us through. Now that we're grown, we've searched every where for the share certificate but to no avail, meanwhile the dividend warrants keep pouring in but we cannot cash them. Thanks for ur contributions. Let me clarify you on that. The church planned to give him a scholarship for his commitment and services to the church. And they want him to study a course that will be relevant to their need. That was why they ask him to go into I.T. So as to be employed by them thereafter.

Just recently, a friend of mine got an appointment from his church to launch the church fully into I.T. His job would include:
1. To design and maintain a good website for the church, 2. To create and manage a database where all the church's data/records would be stored.
3. To manage every I.T resources of the church.
4. To carry out other tasks that would make the church totally I.T compliant.
The church has provided him a scholarship to acquire the necessary knowledge. The questions this my friend is asking now are:
1. Which I.T packages would be best suited for this position?
2. Which I.T training institute is the best in Nigeria in terms of offering an up-to-date practical training.

Hello everyone.
This particular information will be of much help to me as well as others.
I'm a fresh computer Science graduate of a popular federal University in Nigeria. But when it comes to practical know-how, I cannot give a good account of myself due to the fallen standard of education in Nigeria where you get everything in theory, little or nothing in practical. Computer Science more than other field of study is very dynamic such that something that is new today can become obsolete two weeks later due to the rapid development in the Computer and Information Technology. For example, the four programming languages (QBASIC,FOTRAN,PASCAL & C) that I was taught in theory while at the university were all outdated even before 1990. That is to say that even if I had learned them practically while I was there they would be useless to me because they are all outdated. Today, employers are looking for those that can program with C#,JAVA,MySQL,ORACLE etc.
My parents are of the opinion that I go back to the university for my masters degree in Computer Science but I think I've had enough of the "theory accumulation"
I told them that I'll rather go to a roadside computer trainer and get practical knowledge than going to the university for MSc. Please I want to know the best firm that I can get a first class and up-to-date practical training in ICT. Your opinions are welcomed.
