You may not get the MENA beam on nilesat with a net dish.

Ask Malix if Strong produces net dishes.

Just buy Pan Jeje, to be sure. When you see 10 dishes anywhere around you, be sure that 7 out of them would either be made of pan or fibre. the remaining 3 could be net

2.4 net dish & 2.4 pan dish. which one is better?
Both are good.

Key points are

1) get original dish. Too many fake dishes out there

Some time in 2001, that's way before Nairaland was created, during our nilesat installation, we had issues with net dishes and back then we stopped using net dishes for nilesat and instead opted for pan and original fibre dishes

Net dishes makes a lot of sense for C band satellites.
I can also confirm that 2.4m net dish is doing well on 9e and sport 24. This isn't mere claim but tested fact.

If you can't get original pan or fibre, go for net dish

1) Fibre
2) Pan
3) Net

The only issue with fibre is the non detachable nature like pan and net

life707:
Important factors to consider when combining two or more satellites are
1) Footprint.
2) Distance between the satellites
3 Signal strength (Erwp level).

In as much as distance between satellites is important, the signal strength is paramount.
On a small dish of 90cm, a satellite of low Erwp level e.g Eutelsat 7w and 7e can only be tracked with the primary LNB.

So if 7w is primary how do you track 7e with the secondary lnb?. The logic here is that both satellites require a minimum of 90cm to pop up.

In other words, both MBC @ 7w and RTS @ 7e can't be nailed on 60cm individually.

From my experience, satellites with very high Erwp levels (e.gnss7 @22w Ab3 @3w, ses5 @5e, Amos@17e, Joytv @28.2e ) are easily tracked on 60cm and can be combined using the secondary lnb.

From the foregoing, 7w can be the primary on a 90cm and 22w can be the secondary lnb and not the other way round. Even though, the distance between them is the same.

I hope this helps.

NB: check your facts about 21w on 90cm....I doubt very much. I did a lot of research on this satellite when I introduced the 3 in 1 lnb thread back in 2010.
The highlighted was reiterated times without number Yesterday. Satellite doesn't really have to do with distances. Satellite could be close yet cant be gotten on same dish cos of different alignment and coverage reception

Its like when we tried to align Sport 24 on the west and Sony on the East. It's not really easy doing so on my motorised dish. You must favour one satellite than the other. Hence, you'll have to be contented with a poor reception on one at the expense of the other

Please do not waste your time. If you even track 7w on the east side alone is impossible. What chinedu his saying is only possible when you motorized your dish. It's simple without motorize you cannot get 7e and 7w on the same position. 5e is exceptional because the same program is on the west side. But 7e and 7w are two different satellite. Please I assure you its not possible.
Thank you for this comment.

The same problems that existed prior to now as regards vandalism are still there.
Buhari just gave an order that vandals must be treated as criminals, like Book haram. This GEJ failed to do. Instead, he gave surveillance contracts to criminals and thereby weakening the institutions that are constitutionally mandated to carry out protection.

We must join hands with PMB, by doing away with our sentiments and bias
PoliticsGEJ & PMB: Power Generation Comparison April 2015 Vs April, 2016 by davodguy(op): 10:14pm On Apr 24, 2016
For the open minded, I decided to open this thread.
President Buhari has received lots of criticism over the current challenges of the country. In all fairness, the man has genuine interest in turning for the better fortunes of this country, but some people who may still be bitter by the loss of their hero, sees nothing good in anything PMB is doing or has done so far.

I decided to create this topic to actually verify if Nigeria was indeed better under Jonathan than it is now, under PMB.
Power sector is the first to examine

Under GEJ January to April, 2015
Electricity supply fell to 2,988.72MW on April 12, while 3,060.37MW was generated that day, according to data obtained from the Federal Ministry of Power on Monday.

Power generation had on March 11 dropped to 2,747.45MW, while 2,676.64MW was sent out to consumers, down from 3,505MW on March 8.

Power generation and supply in the country have dipped below the 3,000MW mark for at least five times this year.

On February 10, electricity supply plunged to 2,869.84MW as 2,936.83MW was generated that day, according to the Presidential Task Force on Power.

On January 11, 2015, generation fell to 2,502.39MW, while 2,449.04MW was sent out. Generation fell to 2,948.45MW on January 6, while 2,880.31MW was sent out to the distribution companies.

Under PMB
Highest Peak Generated - 5,074.7 MW on February 2nd, 2016

Power-transmission-grid1
Power generation in the country has risen to a peak 4,387 megawatts as at Friday, March 4, 2016 with a prospect for further improvement in power supply situation. The Head, Public Affairs Department at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Usman Abba Arabi, said that this

Causes of drop in power supply under GEJ

The downturn in power generation has often been attributed to the sabotage of the Trans-Forcados Pipeline, which supplies gas to several power plants in the country.

The Special Adviser on Gas to the Minister of Power, Mr. Frank Edozie, said in a telephone interview with our correspondent that the Trans-Forcados Pipeline had been vandalised, and that this led to the shortage in gas supply to the power plants.

“There are problems with gas supply and the hydropower plants are not getting enough water supply,” he said, adding that the problem with the gas pipeline would be resolved this week.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ikeja Electric, one of the distribution companies in Lagos, Mr. Abiodun Ajifowobaje, in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Friday, said the average energy from the grid to the firm dropped to about 370MW last month, adding that one of the two greatest challenges facing the distributing firms today was inadequate power supply from the grid.

“In the case of power supply, if I want to give all my customers 24/7 power supply today, I need 1,250MW, but the average I am getting from the grid is about 370MW to 400MW; less than a third of what I need.”
Causes of drop in supply under PMB

Power generation drops to 1,580.6MW ON MARCH 10, 2016

Senior and junior workers unions’ action to protest the unbundling of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, is already taking its toll as power generation dropped to 1,580.6 megawatts, MW, in the early hours of yesterday.

Recall that generation capacity had inched up to 4,387MW on Friday, after crashing to 2,800MW prior to that from a peak of 5000MW due to gas pipeline vandalism, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.

Data from the Nigerian Systems Operations Department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, website,www.nsong.org, indicated that the situation had gone even worse, with generation peaking at 1,580.6MW as at 9.48am yesterday.

I don't have to burn myself on the sun to prove anything to someone who doesn’t deserve it.
What baffles me is how he has been in satellite work for a decade yet he doesn't know basics of satellite. I don't know what he has been tracking.
You're a joker and a clown.

I'm educating you, but seems you're a slow learner.

On eastern cardinal point, it very possible to use a 90cm dish to track satellites that are over 10cm apart, but same cannot be said of using a small dish for east and west satellites even though the distance between them seems shorter.

Go and ask. The elusive 9e that some people are finding it hard to get all the tps, I'm one of the first few Nigerians that successfully brought down that satellite.

I've been enjoying that 9e for over a month. Malix, emmachile and aroseyi, would educate you better.
