Can you not see the contradiction in your submission here?

Yeah, since you base your judgement on specifications and details.

Just tell me what makes it cost so much. I am still baffled. #24billion naira.
No matter the amount if review of the BOQ, #24billion is much. I am trying to tell you that the price of most of the items constructing this building was inflated. Its too much.

1. Similar buildings? You mean the hotels in South Africa? You mean I should rely on "apples and oranges" as basis of comparison?
2. What you don't get is, we don't need to be in the "construction sector" to make rational judgments.

Then tell me what convinces you that the building is actually worth the cost?
Who is talking about hotels in South Africa, the Scotland yard is there for you to look at. At least the finishes and the gadgets/equipment in it were not made available to us.

Few things
1. You gave your opinion.....absolutely no doubt....but that opinion "came up short".
2. Now you say you can back up by elemental cost of the building. Aside from the false start of not doing that ab-initio, did the report tell you that the scope of the project is limited to "elemental cost of the building"?
3. Bros, it is my opinion grin that you're far away from projects of this magnitude both in age, career-grade and exposure and it will be wise you keep your head down and learn. When you jump to make conclusions and you cannot analytically back up those conclusions, it leaves me wondering ......more like freshers trying to process executive decisions and doing a terrible job at it.

You're very right, I have never worked on a project which is valued at 24billion. I am at best the 12-13billion kind of guy. That said, I never told you the project was even valued using the elemental cost estimation method. If you were patient enough to understand my message and not trying to slander me, you will understand that what I typed was that the method can give an approximate value/ rough estimate of the building.

You so gave your opinion which I can't question, but you're not even giving me a valid reason why the building will cost that much. Like different people posted on the thread which I did confirm some, there are a few buildings which are similar to this said one and the cost is not even close to the cost of this. Now an argument can even be made for it that they were not constructed in the same time period. Don't justify something that is not even realistic. If you truly are in the construction sector and you believe the cost of this building is true, then there must be a problem. If you tell me the basis of my analysis are unfounded, i will not argue with you. Try and get more information like you said and then out me to work so I will prove you wrong.

This dude is at best he's a QS "Wannabe" or QS student...... I mean, do you need to be QS to properly analyse situations like this in a rational manner?

No offense taken, but I gave my opinion which I can back up by elemental cost of the building. Even if drawings and specifications are provided, I'll still convince you that it was an inflated project. Its just my opinion, you can prove me wrong

Why common English dey hard una ...una lazy even for reading. they did not say structure cost of 24b, the said new 24b headquarters.... Meaning both structures, finishing, gadgets, security equipment etc..make una have sense abeg

I know its semantics but bit doesn't take away the fact that the approximate cost of what was approved for the construction from the start to finish including preliminary costs, substructure, superstructure, finishing, road, everything was pegged at that cost. I just feel its too much.

You mean as a Quantity Surveyor, you are trained to give the cost of a project from photograph, this is very unfortunate. much as i am not disputing that the project might have been inflated, your categorical statement from just looking at the photograph if anything has shown some of us who are professional that you are not what you called yourself. before you go on to insult me i want to quickly let you know am a Civil Engineer

I am not basing my assessment on the pictures.
I have worked on CBN projects which are also inflated but I just felt its easier to know that it's a way of saying the cost was inflated, just like the previous projects I have worked on. I am not here to insult you or anyone. We all learn everyday and I have just learnt that I need to properly explain what I meant before posting anything.

Not like Julius Berger my friend. They don’t compromise on international standards and quality. The contact could very well be an inflated one but JB charges upto 10 times other contractors for the same road or building.

Please, i disagree with you. I am a Quantity Surveyor and I can attest to it that no structural or Electrical standard employed can make the base cost of this building exceed 12billion naira. Even if the contractor is Julius Berger. Its all inflated.

Dude, I agree with the following on your list;
Adesua- nothing fine for her body.
Daniel Craig- well........that should be enough.
Toolz-- she's not fine, but she ain't bad either.
Cameron Diaz- I have always thought I was the only person that saw her that way.

Please, please and please, if you don't want to see the fight of an Ibadan boy, remove Denzel and Angelina jolie from that list

Sometimes, you need to let them go willingly or forcefully to know if they are worth fighting for or not. If they fight back for you, they're worth it, if they do not, don't even waste you're time.
It is fine to fight for someone who loves you but it is an absolute waste of time, to fight for someone to love you. There's a huge difference.

Sorry "sir". I didn't read your comment clearly. And I think my mind subconsciously thought you must be a "ma" considering your position on the said thread. Nice one boss

No sir. sad Read the OP's post again! He specifically targeted women, and he did so repeatedly. undecided That is why the women on this thread are so opposed to his views. And I think I understand where they are coming from. If he had been gender-neutral, then his comments would have attracted less opposition. The truth is that what he said also applies to men, but he failed to put that into context and failed to balance his views. Both men and women often make wrong choices, when it comes to dating. It has nothing to do with gender, but with a person's decision-making skills, worldview, self-esteem, psyche and lack of clarity.

So true ma, and i see it from where you are coming from. I will urge you focus on the lesson of the message, he was definitely not gender neutral. You're right about the bolded. It has got nothing to do with the gender.

much as I agree with you on other points, I disagree with you on target audience. The original post was targeted at females. Men don't usually date men in Nigeria presently.

Well said ma, it was a direct attack on the female audience, he really did not mention anything concerning the male populace. It is just the lesson i deduce from the message i am trying to focus on. I would be angry too, if men were referred to in that context. Well said.
Romance / Re: Lady Accuses Man Of Being Gay Because He Respected Her ‘NO’ by Dayg88(m): 10:15am On Feb 09, 2018

She was a stupid girl jare.. A real woman knows what she wants... She would have ridden the Bleep out of your kokoro.. Which nine come be I don't want you to think I'm cheap... Y'all been chatting for months.. Does he seem like that kinda nigga?

But op what do you now want? Medal for self control? Consolation prize? You're one of the rare good men.. But blasting it on social media reduced your VIP mancard to just Regular man.. Which is two steps above fuckboy so?

Congratulations.

Modify:

I am in no way commending the attitidenof the childish girl.... I am against confused girls that try to promote dubious consensual sex and pseudo-rape by making a man feel he should still go ahead even after a solid no from the ladies.. I see her as a rapist teacher.

Neither am I insulting the guy for posting on the social media. I called him a real man (y'all seem to miss that out while reading my comment). But I seriously don't see the point of displaying the situation on social media. You've learnt your lesson, block off childish girls like her and continue. He is not being acuser of anything. He is not trying to accuse or incarcerate her for anything. I don't know.. If I was in his shoes though, I messed around with a guy, he got hard and stuffs, i was ready to ride and he says no, I'm not ready... And then tomorrow he calls me frigid because I didn't ignore his no. I'm just going to phase him out as a juvenile.. No need putting that on social media... But that's just me.. He will be a bigger man (VIP) to have ignored her without creating a pat on the back and give me a medal story out of it...

Well said, I commend the guy for having control of himself(which is very rare). Now the issue of posting it on social media can be seen in two ways, but i choose to see it from the brighter side. A lot will be learnt from what he just posted and trust me the lessons can/will go a very long way in helping guys understand what can be done in similar awkward situations. The other view might make him seem immature but it definitely not make him a lesser man. He did well.

Oga Toks you are being myopic here, Haba. This is like saying every break up is the woman's fault. Are you saying there are no men who are unsatisfied even with an angel?

Do you mean all men know what they want ? All men are saints? No man will want to chop and go even when a lady is worth staying with? Stop deceiving yourself Biko!

This thread is just to polish your ego, to cover up your flaws and faults. And you know what some shallow minded ones will support you but that won't change the fact that you are wrong!

I do not engage in conversations like this because they are usually gender sensitive. That being said, if you read the post carefully, you will understand the message being passed across was never about men being saints or women being the cause for break ups. The message applies to both parties. It is okay if you do not know what you want. But it is bad if we do not know what we do not want. If you (either the guy or the lady) are actually worth keeping, anyone would go any length to make you(in the same context) theirs. A year in a relationship is enough to deduce what we do not want or like in our partners. I just do not support the word dump. It is derogatory.
