A Ghanaian Pastor identified as Rev. Issac Assiamah Arthur, reportedly drowned in a flood which occur after a heavy rain in Apapam town in Kyebi in the Eastern region.

The church offerings was gotten from the church’s mega crusade on Wednesday and Thursday, and were stored in bowls which was to be taken to the bank on Friday.

However the heavy downpour which ensued later, resulted in a flood which affected people’s home and also destroyed Rev. Issac Assiamah Arthur’s church.

It was further gathered that the flood took away the church offering. However in a bid to save the bowl, the Pastor got drowned and residents of the town later found his body few meters from his house.

The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has vowed to publish names of students, staff, and invigilators involved in examination malpractice.

The examination body made this known yesterday as they decried the rate of examination malpractice among students.

In a statement by WAEC’s head, Public Affairs, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, the decision to publish offenders was part of the 66th Nigeria Examinations Committee, NEC, of WAEC’s resolution held at Ogba, Lagos.

Ojijeogu said:

Candidates, invigilators and supervisors caught aiding and abetting examination malpractice, WAEC, ANCOPSS and the States Ministry of Education will publish their names to serve as a deterrent for others.

States Ministry of Education and school principals are to check the ugly trend by looking at the calibre and integrity of teachers nominated as supervisors for public examinations.

The Committee observed that even with the commendable efforts of the Council in the fight against examination malpractice, the menace is still on the increase.

There was high rate of impersonation as a form of examination malpractice during the WASSCE examinations.

In the course of considering the various reported cases of malpractice, the Committee, after diligent deliberations, approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice, as prescribed by the Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of the Council’s examinations. It approved that the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attracts Cancellation of Entire Results, CER, be cancelled, while subject results of those involved in proven cases, which attract Cancellation of Subject Results, CSR, be similarly cancelled.

Cristiano Ronaldo‘s new Las Vegas lawyer has rubbished the claims that the Juventus star raped a woman back in 2009 as ‘complete fabrications’ but says the encounter was consensual.

Attorney Peter S. Christiansen on Wednesday issued a statement that doesn’t deny Ronaldo and the woman reached a non-disclosure agreement in 2010.

The statement declared that documents cited in media reports about Ronaldo’s Las Vegas hotel penthouse encounter in 2009 with Kathryn Mayorga were altered before being ‘irresponsibly published.’

Mayorga’s attorneys did not immediately respond to messages.

A lawsuit filed September 27 in Nevada state court seeks to void the non-disclosure agreement that Mayorga’s attorneys say she signed while accepting $375,000 (£284,000) to keep quiet.

Las Vegas police say they have reopened a sexual assault investigation of the encounter between Ronaldo and Mayorga.

Christiansen’s statement read: ‘So that there are no doubts: Cristiano Ronaldo vehemently denies all the accusations in this civil action.

The documents that allegedly contain statements by Mr. Ronaldo and that were reproduced by the media [emphasis included in statement] are pure inventions.

‘Cristiano Ronaldo does not deny that he agreed to enter into an settlement, but the reasons that led him to do so are being distorted.

‘This settlement is by no means a confession of guilt.

‘What happened was simply that Cristiano Ronaldo merely followed the advice of his advisors in order to put an end to the outrageous accusations made against him, in order to avoid attempts, such as those we are now witnessing, to destroy a reputation built thanks to hard work, athletic ability and behavioural correction.’
