A bride has shocked people across various social media platforms after she took to the wedding group she created to inform her family and friends that she has cancelled her wedding till further notice but plans to use the money donated by friends and family to go on a honeymoon.

The bride, whose name is given as Pam, informed the members of her wedding group that she and her fiance Edward were cancelling the wedding to go on a honeymoon first with the over $30,000 donated by friends and family towards the wedding.

She said after they return from the honeymoon and "regain financial stability and hold calm in our hearts", they will announce a new wedding date.
She went on to tell her family and friends that she expects them all to donate towards the new wedding date.

Well, her loved ones were not in support and some asked for their money back. But the entitled bride got angry, called out her loved ones for demanding back money that they gave as a gift, then told them she wasn't going to answer any of their calls or messages.

She even refused to listen when the groom's grandmother and her own mother asked her to pick their calls so they could reason with her.

Later, she returned to the group to call out her loved ones after the story went viral. She blasted them for leaking her story to Reddit then told them that their actions landed her in hospital. She then told them they owe it to her to pay her medical bills.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mrs Sarah Omotunde-Alade, as Special Adviser on Finance and the Economy, the Presidency has said.

“Dr Alade, who holds BSc (Economics) and PhD in Management Science (Operations Research), retired from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as Deputy Governor in 2017 after spending 23 years in the apex bank.

“She had also acted briefly in 2014 as the CBN Governor”, a State House statement by Buhari ’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, said on Tuesday.

A 52 years old man, Isiaka Afolabi, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 13 years old girl.

City Round learnt that Afolabi works as a gardener in a white garment church in Mushin area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the girl's mother had sent her on an errand on Thursday, October 24, in the evening when Afolabi lay in ambush for her. He was said to have lured her to the church premises where he lived and had canal knowledge of her.

It was learnt that the mother of the girl became worried she did not return in time and went on a search.

The mother, who reportedly noticed uneasiness in her child when she eventually returned home, grilled her on her whereabouts. After much pressure, she was said to have opened up to her mother.

The case was consequently reported to the police at the Area D Command, Mushin and Afolabi was apprehended.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its proposed strike over Federal Government’s directive to enroll its members into the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

President Buhari while presenting the 2020 budget proposal before lawmakers on October 8, 2019, had vowed that Federal Government Employees not captured on the IPPIS platform by 31st Oct. 2019 would no longer be receiving their salaries.

ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in a phone interview, noted that the union had decided to maintain status quo, pending further meetings. ASUU had at different fora rejected the deadline, stating that universities operated differently from the civil service and should, therefore, not be seen as appendages of ministries, departments and agencies of government.

“What we have been saying is that the reaction of our members will depend on what happens in the government. Our members will meet at the appropriate time to take appropriate decision.

“The Senate has intervened in the matter and we are engaging the Senate, the Senate has appealed to us for now, When they pay other workers, they pay them also.”

According to him, the union is proposing another template which would factor in the peculiarities of the universities and promote their interest.

“The point we are making is that we have visited the Senate President, told him that there is an alternative to IPPIS, the IPPIS as we see it, will not promote the interest of the university, there is no university or country in the world where the payment of university workers is centralised with the government.”

On the World University ranking, Ogunyemi stressed that enrolling its members would affect Nigeria’s status, and discourage visiting lecturers come into the system.

“IPPIS will affect our ranking, because now scholars from different parts of the world will not be encouraged to come to Nigeria. Imagine somebody come for short six months and because of IPPIS he is not paid from three to four months, whereas, if they are domesticated in the universities, ASUU will pay them.

“Any university can attract scholars from any part of the world and you do not expect scholars to come from India, China, Australia, America or UK and be coming into Abuja to enroll in IPPIS. It is ridiculous, and that is what the autonomy means, that universities should govern their personnel, and their pay role system.

“We are saying it is not safe, we are going to become a laughing stock among committee of universities. In Ghana, there is something like IPPIS, but universities are not part of it. There is nowhere in the world that payroll is centralised and managed by consultants.”

He, however, noted that what the union wanted was a “Governing Council’ that would govern and manage the payroll of ASUU members. “If government does that, it is the council that the government will hold responsible, that is what the law says, and where a council is found to be corrupt, or incompetent, that council should be dissolved and another council should be put in place.

“Our proposal is that there should be a mechanism that will enable the government to monitor the payroll system and the personnel. At the appropriate time, we will release it to the Nigerian public.

“The mechanism, when we centralise the payroll system of academics in Nigeria, you are taking a risk, cyber criminals can break into it at any time. There is nothing you put on the internet that cannot be hacked and that is not accessible in any part of the world.”

He stressed that the IPPIS will erode autonomy of the union, noting that the universities are unique environment, and are called “universal cities, because they are universal market places of ideas.”

Both boarding and day pupils of Government Science Secondary School, Kaltungo in southern Gombe State always pray against rainfall during the academic session.

They said whenever it rained, it disrupted all their activities in school due to the deplorable conditions of the school buildings.

The pupils therefore called on the state government to come to their assistance by rehabilitating their dilapidated classrooms and hostels.

The school principal, Aliyu Waziri described the hostel situation of the school as pathetic.

According to Waziri, out of 26 classrooms, just two were in order and whenever it rained, all activities were usually disrupted as pupils, especially boarders, ran for safety.

He said he made efforts to inform past administration in the state about the poor state of the school structures but nothing was done.

Facebook and Instagram have banned aubergine and peach emojis as well as the water drip, for being too ‘sexually suggestive.’

According to the social media giants, the change is part of an update to Facebook’s Sexual Solicitation Community Standards, which are aimed at sex workers who use the platforms to sell their services.

The emojis, which are widely known to represent a penis (aubergine), bum (peach), and ejaculation (water drip), will still be allowed in captions, but can no longer be used in a manner that suggests or asks for anything sexual.

Facebook explained: “People use Facebook to discuss and draw attention to sexual violence and exploitation. We recognise the importance of and want to allow for this discussion.

“We draw the line, however, when content facilitates, encourages or coordinates sexual encounters between adults.

“We also restrict sexually explicit language that may lead to solicitation because some audiences within our global community may be sensitive to this type of content and it may impede the ability for people to connect with their friends and the broader community.”

The Nigerian Correctional Service has said 25 of the 122 inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Koton Karfe, Kogi State, after a section of the centre was overrun by flood following a downpour in the town on Monday have been recaptured.

However, the NCS said 97 of them were still missing.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has ordered the armed forces, police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to recapture the fleeing inmates.

The NCS Controller- General, Ja’afaru Ahmed, who visited the centre for an on-the-spot assessment on Tuesday, said 122 of the 227 inmates took advantage of the situation to escape, but 25 had been rearrested.

According to a statement by the NCS, the CG appealed to the public to provide “useful intelligence that will facilitate swift recapture of the fleeing inmates”.

Ahmed said, “As a result of the flooding of Koton Karfe and its environs, the inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, including those so far recaptured, have been evacuated and no life was lost in the incident".

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has said Warri and Kaduna refineries will be revamped in the first half of next year.

Sylva said on Monday in Lagos that the rehabilitation of Port Harcourt refinery was ongoing.

The nation's refineries have a combined installed capacity of 445,000 barrels per day but have continued to operate far below the installed capacity for many years.

“Refurbishment of the existing refineries to achieve full capacity operations shall be fast- tracked: (Port Harcourt ongoing, others to follow by Q 1 and Q 2 2020), ”the minister said at the 13 th Oil Trading and Logistics Africa Downstream Week.

Tinubu’s daughter, Folasade welcomes second surrogate baby girl

Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, first daughter of the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has welcomed her second baby, a girl, through surrogacy.

Surrogacy is a method or agreement whereby a woman agrees to carry a pregnancy for another person or persons, who will become the newborn child’s parent after birth.

Tinubu-Ojo, who is the Iya-Oloja General, had on 25 December, 2017 welcomed her first baby boy through surrogacy to the Tinubu-Ojo’s family, who have been expecting a baby several years after marriage.

The arrival of the second baby girl last week Friday brought joy to the Tinubu-Ojo’s family.

The trial of musician, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley at the Federal High Court in Lagos has been adjourned till December 11th and 12th following a heated argument over space to seat in the court this morning.

The trial resumed for hearing today October 24th but as the judge settled in to hear the case, the lawyer representing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Oyedepo and Naira Marley’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, and two other senior lawyers, began to quarrel over seats available in the court.

The presiding jduge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo appealed to the lawyers to bear with the government over inadequate space in the courtroom. The court rooms in the Federal High Court Lagos are usually very small.

Justice Oweibo then adjourned the case immediately.

Sixteen people have been sentenced to death in Bangladesh for the murder of a schoolgirl who was burned alive after she accused the headmaster in her school of sexually abusing her.

19-year-old Nusrat Jahan Rafi was reportedly tied up, doused in kerosene and set on fire on the rooftop of her school in Feni, a small town 100 miles from Dhaka, back in April 2019.

Prosecutors said the attackers had pressured Nusrat to withdraw her complaint against the headmaster, but when she she refused, they set her alight. The attackers tried to make the death look like a suicide but their plan failed when the flames burned through a scarf used to tie her and she escaped.

While still on fire as she ran for help, she was rushed to hospital with burns to 80 percent of her body.

In a video filmed by her brother as they were rushing to the hospital, the victim explained what had happened and named some of her attackers.

'The teacher touched me, I will fight this crime till my last breath,' she said. She died five days later in hospital.

'The verdict proves that nobody will get away with murder in Bangladesh. We have the rule of law,' prosecutor Hafez Ahmed said following the verdict.

Back in March, Rafi went to Police to report the sexual harassment, and a leaked video shows the local police station chief registering her complaint but dismissing it as 'not a big deal'.

At the time police had said that one of the 18 people initially arrested had accused the school's principal of ordering the attack.
The teacher 'told them to put pressure on Rafi to withdraw the case or kill her if she refused', senior police superintendent Mohammad Iqbal, who led the investigation, had told AFP.

According to Iqbal, some of those arrested were Rafi's classmates who had tied her up with a scarf before setting her on fire.

'The plan was to pass the incident off as a suicide. But it fell through after Rafi managed to come downstairs while on fire because the scarf burnt and freed her hands and feet,' he said.

Her Headmaster, Siraj Ud Doula was among three teachers found guilty over the case, along with two local politicians, Ruhul Amin and Maksud Alam.

A 21 year old sales person for fashion brand H & M , Lydia Roberts killed her self because she felt hurt, devastated and violated after she found indecent photos of children in her boyfriend's phone, her mother Michelle has revealed Tuesday to Metro UK.

Lydia was dating business man Adam Wells for two years, before the shocking discovery that made her take her life.

While her boyfriend was at work, Lydia saw the lewd images of children on his second phone, images he had downloaded from a Russian website, and then they started arguing on phone before he returned to their shared flat in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, on his lunch break.

They continued quarreling until Wells left the house to go and meet up with friends, then to his surprise when he came back by 3.30am the next morning he found out she had taken her life and proceeded to call police.

Recording a conclusion of suicide by hanging, Coroner Zak Golombeck said to Metro UK: ‘Adam and Lydia had been corresponding by text message during the course of 9 June.

‘Lydia was at home and Adam was at work for a larger period of the day and later out with friends and colleagues. ‘The nature of the messages had been that Lydia and Adam had argued about content found on one of Adam Wells’ mobile phones.

‘Adam Wells had returned home at around lunch time and shortly after him departing, Lydia had continued to message Adam Wells.

‘It continued up until 7pm or shortly thereafter, whereupon no further text messaging or contact was made between Adam and Lydia.’

The coroner continued: ‘I have considered the totality of the evidence and I am able to conclude that Lydia Roberts took her own life and intended to do so.

'To the family, I offer my condolences.’
In a statement following the inquest, Lydia’s mother Michelle said to Metro UK: ‘Lydia felt violated, hurt and disgusted at what she found – even more so at the thought of Adam being with her young niece and nephew.

‘I feel that he made her make the decision to do what she did. ‘As a family we are devastated at the loss of our beautiful daughter and for this we will never forgive him.

‘In our opinion we are left now with more unanswered questions and hope one day to find out the truth.’

After the death of Lydia, Wells was put on the sex offenders’ register for five years, charged with possessing 31 indecent photographs of children, sentenced to a 12 month community order, ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and pay an £85 victim surcharge by the Manchester magistrates court.

The Special Offences (Mobile) Court, in Oshodi area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, on Tuesday, October 22nd sentenced 37 traffic offenders to 100 hours community service.

Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo had led the prosecution of 37 traffic offenders in court. The attorney-general, during the proceedings for written address, urged the court’s presiding Magistrate, Omobola Salawu to convict the defendants as charged.

He added that the 37 offenders were charged with offences of driving against traffic, illegal driving on BRT corridor and illegal plying of highway with motorcycles which are likely to endanger the lives of road users. Onigbanjo noted that the offence committed was punishable under section 66 (b) of Lagos State Transport Law, 2012.

The presiding Magistrate, Magistrate Tombola Salawu admitted them to 100 hours community service and fines of N15,000 and 20,000 varying from the offence committed. The magistrate ordered that they all dropped two passport photographs and pay the fines allotted into the Lagos State Mobile Court’s account.

While addressing newsmen, Onigbanjo stated that the state would continue to prosecute traffic offenders until sanity was restored back on Lagos roads and law-abiding citizens allowed to enjoy the roads without being assaulted by defaulters.

“Governor Sanwo Olu led administration has zero tolerance for disobedience to traffic rules, all traffic offenders would be made to serve the punishment immediately, which could be in form of compulsory community service or fines as appropriate,” he said.

Nigerians living in Mpumalanga province of South Africa have been subjected to another attack by South Africans in renewed xenophobic violence.

Information on the attack is still sketchy at the time of filing this report, but it was gathered that the leadership of Nigerian Citizens In South Africa (NICASA) and Nigeria’s Consular General to South Africa are already on their way to Witbank in Mpumalanga province to get firsthand information on the xenophobic attack.

The fresh wave of xenophobic violence came weeks after President Buhari visited the country, calling for protection of Nigerians and other foreign nationals living in the country.

Back in March, Naira Marley was arrested on his birthday by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations of advance-fee scam and related cyber crimes.

After his arrest, the anti-graft agency filed 11 charges against Naira Marley bordering on alleged cybercrime and identity theft. The alleged crimes were in contravention of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and the Cyber Crimes Act, which the artiste risks seven years in jail if found guilty.

He has since been released on bail.

Justin Trudeau has won a second term as Canada’s prime minister after the country’s federal election, but his narrow victory means he will lead a minority government that will be forced to depend on other parties to govern.

The Liberals were victorious in 146 out of 304 electoral districts that had reported results by about 10:30pm Toronto time on Monday, according to the national broadcaster CBC. Trudeau needed to win 170 seats to secure a second majority government.

In his victory speech, Justin Trudeau told Canadians that even if they didn't vote for him, the Liberal Party works for all people of Canada.

US President, Donald Trump has also congratulated Trudeau for a wonderful and hard fought victory with a Tweet that reads, 'Congratulations to Justin Trudeau on a wonderful and hard fought victory. Canada is well served. I look forward to working with you toward the betterment of both of our countries!'.

Trudeau, 47, was endorsed by Barack Obama in the last days of the campaign, but his standing as one of the few remaining progressive leaders in a major democracy was undermined by the emergence of blackface images, and lingering criticism of his handling of a major corruption inquiry.

Ahead of the vote, polls showed him neck-and-neck with the Conservative leader Andrew Scheer. But with neither of the main parties reaching the number of seats needed for a parliamentary majority, Canada is headed towards a minority government, and Trudeau will be forced to co-operate with smaller left-of-centre parties to govern.

13 Nigerian commercial sex workers have been arrested by the Ghanaian Police following a raid in Northern Region.

The arrested commercial sex workers were handed over to the country's Immigration Service who are now investigating the routes the sex workers entered Ghana from.

“Investigations are ongoing to establish their immigration status. We are very much interested in finding the trends the routes they used, the documents they used to enter the country, how they are living in the country and all that" Northern Regional Commander of the Immigration Service, Mr. Edward Kofi Owusu told Citi News.

However some of the sex workers accused the police of extorting them and making daily demands of GHS 5 from them.

“They were saying it is police money and when I ask them what it is for they just say I should just pay the money. Every day they take GHS 5. It is not as if I like this work but it is because of the safety of my junior sister. I have finished Senior High School,” one of the sex workers said.

A lion has reportedly escaped from the Kano Zoological Garden yesterday, October 19.
Governor Umar Ganduje's aide, Salihu Tanko Yakasai who confirmed the report said authorities are doing everything possible to recapture the Lion.

He also told residents of Zoo Road in Gadun, Kano, to be vigilante even though the lion is said to be within the premises of the zoo.

Salihu Tanko Yakasai tweeted;

"It Is true that a Lion in Kano Zoo has escaped and the authorities are doing everything humanly possible to capture it. So far theres no cause for alarm as the lion is still within the premises of the Kano Zoo but those living within the area are advised to be vigilante."

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has said that APC National leader and former governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu, stands a chance of being a good President of Nigeria after President Buhari completes his tenure in 2023.

According to the Doctors who reported the case to online medical forum, UROLOGY CASE REPORTS', after viewing an xray of where the tweezers were located in the urethra, they applied pressure on either side of the penis to keep the 2.7-inch tweezers closed as they carefully brought it out of the base of the penile shaft.

The man who was unnamed in the report, reported himself to doctors and revealed he had a history of inserting metal objects into his urethra.

Doctors say some men insert objects into their penis due to psychiatric issues, being drunk or for sexual gratification and hardly report to doctors due to embarrasment...

The patient in the report said he felt no pain during the 4 years the object was in his urethra , was in good health and did not suffer any difficulties in urinating.

The doctors, writing in the forum, said: ‘At the end of the procedure, no urethral catheter was inserted, the patient voided well and went home post procedure.

‘The patient was recommended to undergo a psychiatric evaluation but he refused. The patient did not follow up with the outpatient department.’

My neighbor, a woman was drowned few days ago due to heavy rainfall. Her body was found 3 days later in a near by river across our street.
