CrimeWoman Jailed For 13 Years For Cutting Off Her Boyfriend's Private Part by dayo229(op): 3:11am On Sep 27, 2019
A woman has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for cutting off her boyfriend's penis during sex because he shared their sex tapes with friends.

Brenda Barattini, 28, chopped off the penis of Sergio Fernandez, 42, two years ago and was recently found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to 13 years behind bars.

The accountant confessed she had planned the attack on November 25, 2017, but said she had not intended to kill her former boyfriend.

Her trial in Cordoba, Argentina, heard how Barattini cut through 90 per cent of musician Sergio’s penis with garden shears after blindfolding him and performing a sex act on him.

She told the court she had planned to carry out revenge on her then-boyfriend because he had been sharing X-rated pictures and videos of her, claiming he treated her like a "trophy".

She told a jury of four men and four women: "It violated my privacy, my life and my career."

Narrating how he was attacked, Sergio told the court: "After she put the blindfold on she told me I had to guess where she was touching me.

"She also wanted to tie me up but I didn’t let her. She began to practice MouthAction on me. I suddenly felt something. She wanted to kill me in that second."

Sergio was rescued by neighbours and spent eight days in a coma.

After her arrest, Barattini initially claimed she had been defending herself from a sexual assault by Sergio. She later changed her story and admitted she had carried out the attack in revenge.

Barattini is expected to appeal the sentence at a later date. Defence lawyer Lucas de Olmos claims the decision of the court was "unheard of" in Argentina.

The lawyer said: "No-one has ever been convicted in this country of attempted murder for a penis wound."

Travel7 Benefits And Advantages Of IELTS For Study Abroad Students by dayo229(op): 1:36am On May 04, 2019
For students wishing to study abroad especially in countries like Canada, USA, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, more often than not, an official IELTS score is one of the major prerequisites. What is IELTS? This wonderful piece spelled out how to prepare for and pass the test.

Basically, IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It a standard test in English for non-native speakers of the English language otherwise known as ESL students.

Established in 1989 and now managed by the British Council and other organizations, the test is one of the major English-language tests in the world. Many students intending to study abroad must have come across references to this test in many application forms. So they are familiar with it. If you are reading this, it is likely because you are wondering what the test is all about and the benefits or advantages of writing the test.

Benefits and advantages of taking IELTS exam

1. Needed for most stages and steps for going abroad

Like mentioned earlier, students with good IELTS score have already fulfilled one of the conditions of studying in countries where English is the first language. Apart from using it to get admission, the test is sometimes required for visa applications, immigration forms and job applications in foreign countries.

2. It is accepted worldwide

More than 135 countries and over 9000 organizations around the world accept IELTS as proof one is capable of communicating effectively in the English language. So its reputation as a good test of English proficiency extends beyond English-only speaking countries.

3. Good for gauging your English skills

The way the exams are structured makes it possible for ESL students and individuals to test their knowledge of English against native English speakers. It would therefore enable you to see how good you are. One can also use the opportunity of the test as training to improve one’s English language proficiency.

4. Accurate knowledge of your English skills

The criteria used by the examiners to assess your English language skills are strict for all the various tests. The result you get is, therefore, an accurate reflection of your English language proficiency. Though there is no actual failure in the test, most institutions would need a score of at least 7 to be satisfied. Candidates who get less than that or get a low score can always repeat the test.

5. Information on institutions where the tests are needed globally

This feature of IELTS is a time-saver for individuals. The Global Recognition System of IELTS has an up-to-date data base of institutions worldwide that require the test results. Apart from that, the system also contains the minimum scores required by each institution. That gives you an idea or who to apply to or if your IELTS score made the grade.

6.British and American English covered

Many students in ESL countries are confused about the concept of American vs. British English. The differences between the two can range from slight and subtle to glaring and obvious. The IELTS test covers both types of English making it possible for candidates to know these differences. At least at a basic level, one is exposed to different accents and how certain words are pronounced by the two categories.

7. Live exam

The IELTS is designed to incorporate real life situations. So there is a speaking section of the exam involving a face to face meeting with an examiner. This might sound daunting but the exam is private. Just the candidate and the examiner speaking English without distractions. This is very important as you would face such situations if you wish to study abroad in English-speaking countries.

Visit the IELTS website for more information about the nearest test center to your location, how to register, and documents and fees needed for registration.

EducationPreparing To Write Your Scholarship Essay by dayo229(op): 12:32am On Apr 27, 2019
Preparing to Write Your Scholarship Essay

The key to receiving scholarship money is to write a great essay. Even if you meet every one of the criteria for the scholarship you’re applying for, other students, possibly many other students, who are similarly qualified are applying for the same award.
Writing a great essay can set you apart from the larger field of candidates. Luckily, like most things in life, creating an award-winning essay is easier if you make sure you’re prepared to do it well.

There are certain things that you should keep in mind when you’re getting ready to write your essay, both in terms of what’s helpful and in terms of what is less so, and they’re worth thinking about before you get started.

Here are some tips on how to get ready to write a first-rate essay for your scholarship application.

Schedules are your friend

It’s easy to push some tasks to the bottom of your priority list when you’re busy, especially tasks that seem like they can be done later than others. Don’t make this mistake when it’s time to start thinking about your scholarship applications.
Pull out our planner and put writing your essay in it. Make sure you schedule it early enough that you aren’t risking running out of time because late applications don’t get considered.
You should also make sure that you give yourself enough time for the actual work. This isn’t a task you want to rush through and give quick, shallow answers.

Do your research
There’s work to be done to prepare for your essay, long before you sit down to do the actual writing. Read the essay questions carefully, and more than once. Think carefully about your answers, and relate them to your own experience.
Once you have a pretty good idea about what you want to say, make an outline with your main points, so that you won’t forget anything important once you’re actually writing.

Know your audience
What are the donors looking for? Pay careful attention to the instructions, which will tell you about how they want it formatted, as well as giving you the questions they want answering and their evaluation criteria.
Are they looking for an emphasis on academic performance, or are they more interested in your character and life experience? Are they looking for evidence of being community-oriented? How does their particular emphasis apply to you?
Donors are going to be the most interested in candidates whose essays say something about them, and aren’t a generic cut-and-paste. That’s another reason why giving yourself ample time to do right is critical.

Make it personal
If you want to stand out from the crowd, you have to highlight what makes you an individual. Don’t brag or try to show off, but do take the opportunity to talk about not just how you think or what you believe, or your priorities, but HOW you got there.
Interested in law school? Don’t just say that the law has always appealed to you, give an explanation about why. Showing who you are, and not just what you can do, is a powerful tool for gaining the right sort of attention from potential donors.

Find and use an editor
Sometimes making sure that everything that’s in your head gets out onto the page in a sensible way can be a challenge. That’s especially true if you’re feeling pressured. Not only should you go over your essay yourself, it never hurts to have another pair of eyes look at it, too.
Finding yourself an editor will not only help you catch any proofreading errors you missed, but has the advantage of having someone who can tell you if what you’ve written has a natural flow, or if there are things that don’t make sense or are overly repetitive.
As important as it is to know what you should do, it’s equally important to know the sorts of things that you should avoid when applying for scholarships, so let’s take a look at some of those things.

Don’t fall for scams
Legitimate opportunities for academic scholarships will not ask you to pay money up front. You should ignore any awards that want you to pay some sort of fee in order to apply. The phrase ‘you need to spend money to make money’ doesn’t apply to this area.

Don’t forget the importance of balance
Don’t apply for every single award you can find, but also don’t pin all your hopes on applying for just one or two high-dollar scholarships, either. It’s a great idea to apply for multiple awards, but it’s an even better idea if those awards are a good fit for who you are and what you are planning on studying.
It’s pretty common for groups in a community to offer small scholarships to local students, so it’s worth it to find out if there are opportunities of that type near you.
You can also contact the university you’re applying to and find out if the department you’re interested in has any awards specific to their programs.

Don’t take shortcuts
Applying for scholarships is work, and like any other work, you can start to get tired of it. Resist the impulse to cut corners.
If you are applying for several different awards, you should write a completely new essay for each one. Don’t try to cut and paste or try to write one that’s generic enough that you can submit it with more than one application.

Not only can reviewers tell when they’re getting a generic response, but you’ll lose the personal touch that will get your essay noticed. Besides, if you are awarded a scholarship, the donors are giving you a gift that can make a huge difference in helping you reach your goals.
Spending a little sincere time and effort to receive that gift isn’t asking for too much. If you find that you can re-use parts of one essay on another application, don’t just cut and paste. Make adjustments that will make it more in keeping with the specifications for the new application and keep it sounding fresh.

Each essay should reflect your goals for the specific scholarship you’re applying for. Also, do your own work. Even if your parents offer to help you with completing your applications, don’t give in to the temptation.
You’re entering the world of adult responsibilities and college, itself, is a lot of work. Accept that the beginning of your years-long commitment to your education starts now.

Writing an effective scholarship essay isn’t easy, but if you give yourself the time and dedication to doing it right, it doesn’t have to be difficult, either. Just keep these tips in mind while you get ready to go work, and the task can be much less stressful.

TravelGMAT: Structure, Cost Of Registration, How To Register, Duration And Validity. by dayo229(op):
GMAT is a standardized test written by graduates
for admission and scholarships purposes to
study in the United State and some other
countries around the world. GMAT is use by
Business schools as a criterion for admission
into a wide range of graduate management
programs, including MBA, Master of Accountancy,
and Master of Finance programs. According to a
survey conducted by Kaplan Test Prep, the GMAT
is still the number one choice for MBA aspirants
despite the increasing acceptability of GRE
scores. Click here to read about GRE. In the post
below you will get to know the structure, cost of
registration, how to register, duration and validity
of GMAT test.

GMAT
The Graduate Management Admission Test
(GMAT) is a computer Adaptive Test (CAT)
intended to assess certain analytical, writing,
quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written
English for use in admission to a graduate
management program, such as an MBA. It
requires knowledge of certain specific grammar
and knowledge of certain specific algebra,
geometry, and arithmetic. The GMAT does not
measure business knowledge or skill, nor does it
measure intelligence. According to the test
owning company, the Graduate Management
Admission Council (GMAC), the GMAT assesses
analytical writing and problem-solving abilities,
while also addressing data sufficiency, logic, and
critical reasoning skills that it believes to be vital
to real-world business and management success.

Structure

The GMAT exam consists of four sections: an
analytical writing assessment, an integrated
reasoning section, a quantitative section, and a
verbal section. Test takers have 30 minutes for
the analytical writing assessment and another 30
minutes to work through 12 questions, which
often have multiple parts, on the integrated
reasoning section and are given 75 minutes to
work through 37 questions in the quantitative
section and another 75 minutes to get through 41
questions in the verbal section.

Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)

The AWA consists of one 30-minute writing task
–analysis of an argument. It is important to be
able to analyze the reasoning behind a given
argument and write a critique of that argument.

Integrated reasoning (IR)

Integrated Reasoning is a section designed to
measure a test taker’s ability to evaluate data
presented in multiple formats from multiple
sources. The skills being tested by the integrated
reasoning section were identified in a survey of
740 management faculty worldwide as important
for today’s incoming students. The IR section
consists of 12 questions (which often consist of
multiple parts themselves) in four different
formats: graphics interpretation, two-part
analysis, table analysis, and multi-source
reasoning.

Quantitative section

The quantitative section of the GMAT seeks to
measure the ability to reason quantitatively, solve
quantitative problems, interpret graphic data, and
analyze and use information given in a problem.
Questions require knowledge of certain algebra,
geometry, and arithmetic. There are two types of
quantitative questions: problem solving and data
sufficiency. The use of calculators is not allowed
on the quantitative section of the GMAT...
