owo2390:

I'm sorry but I disagree.
My Mom used to work at Igbobi, Shomolu in Nigeria and i used to go there everyday.
And i saw how diligently the Nurses and Doctors worked to help the patients.
Maybe some doctors are lazy, unmotivated E.t.c but there are good ones too.

Sure there are always good ones, but its the ratio we need to worry about - perhaps 1-1,000,000
What about the hospital itself - tell me its standard and I'll call you a liar
Family / Re: What's your Ideal Family Size? by DBest(m): 10:56pm On Dec 30, 2005
No matter how wealthy I get, I'll stick with a maximum of 4, 2 Boys and 2 Girls. However, I prefer 3, 2 boys and a girl.

There's really no fear of them dying anymore as infant mortality has being reduced by advances in Health care. This used to cause our fore fathers to have multitudes of children as they believe 50% or more might die later

If you know the state of Nigerian Hospitals you will prefer to take "agbo" for a disease than go to one of those things we call hospitals. Doctors are no better - lazy, unmotivated, egotistic-over-nothing and even quack.

I just would like to hear your own opinions and have you share your experiences at any Nigerian hospital.

I hear they've chosen 7 hospitals to be reformed, anyone as a list of the 7 hospitals or just tell me, is LUTH included?

What is the service supposed to be like in a modernised hospital?
Religion / Re: Atheism - Is It A Belief Or A Position? by DBest(m): 10:34pm On Dec 30, 2005
@nferyn, I quite agree with you on the issue of diversity of society and the possibility of atheism being a norm in some societies, however in most societies, an atheist is regarded as strange. Hence it takes only a man with courage or someone who has had some terrible experiences that made him realise his foolishness (rightly or wrongly) as to have believed in a supreme being.

This is not true. How do you come to that conclusion?
Well, the atheists I know take charge of there life (by this I didn't mean positively only, some resort to all sorts of moral and social vices while others become go-getters).
Religion / Re: Do You Believe In Fate? by DBest(m): 10:20pm On Dec 30, 2005
...meaning you don't believe in God?
I didn't say so. Now that you've mentioned it though I would like to ask you, because you Believe in God does it mean you have to believe in destiny? If so then there really is no use planning for the future - it would turn out to be a futile effort or don't you think?

This is very much related to the post Human Free Will Versus God's All-Knowing Nature.  If indeed God knows the future then that means that whatever God knows about my future is my fate or destiny.  How can one possibly change that?  If ones destiny can be changed, does it mean that one has changed God's mind?  And if God's mind can be changed, then maybe he can go back on some promises too?

Don't you think its very annoying to answer a question with a question?
Religion / Re: Atheism - Is It A Belief Or A Position? by DBest(m): 10:47am On Dec 30, 2005
The principle of atheistic philosophy is: what is capable of verification and necessary for the individual should be tested and known; what is incapable of verification or unnecessary for the present need, should be respected as an opinion. To respect an opinion is not to accept it as a truth; it is a social norm to enable the growth of knowledge. Unless the free flow of opinions is permitted, while recognising them only as opinions, we lose the benefit of imagination. The danger is not in respecting an opinion but it is in mistaking it for a truth. Atheism, therefore, adopts the scientific method for acquiring knowledge. It promotes understanding through verification wherever possible and through respect for opinion wherever necessary.

Nicely said loco, nicely said.
Religion / Do You Believe In Fate? by DBest(m): 10:29am On Dec 30, 2005
I have being thinking on this issue of fate for quite some time now and I'll like to get your opinions. If you do believe in fate pls tell me why. Also is there a difference between fate and destiny. Well I believe everyone's destiny is in his/her hands, and the decisions we make, guided by our experiences and knowledge base, is what turns out to be what people call fate. What do you think?

Looking at what the world as turned into today, one begins to wonder the effect "a supreme being" is having on it - if any exists. However due to the fact that man has an innate predisposition to subject himself to a greater power - seen or unseen, he has continued to accept the beliefs passed on to him by society and more profoundly his parents. An atheist is just someone who, standing outside the norm of the society, has decided to examine critically the possibilities of the existence of a supreme being and came to the conculsion that "Life is a chain of events linked together by actions and reactions" and whatever decisions we take and the consequent outcome is certainly not governed by any supreme being. He therefore takes charge of his life, believing only in one thing - HIMSELF.
Phones / Re: How can one check e-mail on vactive GPRS by DBest(m): 12:18am On Dec 25, 2005
Adidas, I've asked this same question over and over again. I however stumbled across an info that it is not possible to do that except you pay Vmobile to forward your messages to you mobile. E-mail on Mobile phone using Vactive is a Vmobile's corporate solution.
