viaro:
Are you kidding yourself? Where did I 'admit' anything about Christians going to hell?
We know the promise of hell that Allah made to muslims and muslimahs will come to pass -
your Allah qualified it with the adjective of "irrevocable", so it doesn't matter that you
want to pass it to us or anyone else. . . it's just going to come to pass for you. All this
that you're pampering yourself with good and fair speech will not change Allah's mind! grin

I'm grateful that your Quran has answers for your own joke. How about this one: in Islam,
there's this joke that Allah is time, and time is Allah - but when someone says something
like, "what heck of a time we had", Allah is seriously wounded! grin

Yes, I like Muslim jokes - please share some more.
Really the quran says that?
Wow~~that's deep!
So when pple and moslems included say things like:

-time is not on my side
-your time is wrong
-im runnin out of time
-time is never enough
- your time is bad or
-told u time and time again
-it's a bloody waste of time
-no african time
-time table
-time keepers (must be the closest to alah then)
-lunch time~~or
-just thinking how Time bomb came to be grin grin

i get ur point joor, but one vital point on which i'v based ma debate is.
FAN is an abrrv. of FANATIC.
And it's that simplicity of it im lookin at.
It's either u agree to it or not, but i noticed u'v carefully avoided answerin that.

But let's lay it to rest now before one ninny comes spewin thrash.
But, can an abbreviation have a totally exclusive n different meanin' from the word abbreviated?

Now lemme 1st state that im not sayin the designer of this NYLON grin as some1 calls it, had all these in mind.
ma point is that as a critique i can see connections even tho they werent intended, ok

Basically when u think of the title DA VINCI MODE, your mind races back to the movie Da Vinci Code
the adaptation of same title novel by Dan Brown.
Also when u think of the Title of the movie u cannot but think of Leonardo Da Vinci, right?
Ok so lets have that in mind. What is the popular phrase in the movie? -
"So Dark the Scorn of men"

Now lets go to our Design:
The background is Black(Dark), and the clothing takes same dark grey hue.
Black speak of Mystery, the theme of the Movie.

The font for the mODENINE is Gothic- which references a style of architecture prevalent in w/europe in 12th ans 16th century, characterized by pointed arches, vault, large windows and elaborate tracey.(Element that played relevant role in the movie)

It (Gothic) is also a type of writing -broad vertical strokes. So Gothic is
- a language style
-an architecture style
-and a Typeface style.

This Gothic Medieval era was the early christian art era which was referenced in DVCode!
U can say it's kinda medieval, cos its DOESN"Tor DIDN"T follow the Classical style.
Relevancehuh?
We all kno, ,Mode is not doin the "classical" kinda Hip hop he's always done with this album.
This is very evident in the choice of beat rendition. And even when he does the classical he's still
not lumped with the rest of the artiste. He's almost always anti cliche.

Take a close look at the facial expression, as if he peeps at the peple, his true intention obscured by the face cap turned backwards.
A semblance to the Leonardo da vinci painting of Mona lisa! Known for concealin certain emotions. So many tales follow the painting

Did u see the Bold letter G on the Jacket?
The relevance? Well, G is a very important feature of Freemanson(the secret society mentioned in the book and movie)it seats right in the middle of their compass. It stands for God or/and Geometry.

Now look again, the next letter u see after the G is what~~d number 9
Now we all kno MODE9 is referred to as the godMc,

Now the red line that runs under the Name, what's the relevance.
Remember the Da Vinci code story set out to trace the Blood LINE of jesus
to determine the Messianic Lineage- i refer u to track 5-Black rap MESSIAH

Blood represents Truth and Enlightenment in the DVC story.
M9 we agree is one enlightened individual with a pedagogy outlook,
as u rightly pointed out from his PS album cover~~as he boasts
"i appeal to the learned community" or "i make the purist say wow that's a good one"
If i had time i cld go more, but hey here is some of wat i got wit ma critique's cap on.

Y'all can say it's forced or contrive, but hey this is me workin a miracle. Me openin both eyes n mind!!
Makin u see wat seem impossible and absent,as possible and present.  grin grin grin

Ok, y'all can start takin shot at me
But will any1 say i didnt make an iota of sense?
I think not.

You said that in plain English . . . 'If u say u r a fan of sth, whether u realise it or not u sayin u r Fanatic bout wat u sayin u a fan of!'

Is 'fan' an abbreviation of 'fanatic'?? Not the same way 'Ugo' is an abbreviation of 'Ugochukwu'
They mean two different things in the case of fan/fanatic . . . but are interchangeable in Ugo/Ugochukwu.
Eldeegy
Ok this aint even bout the line kicked by RM again, so dont y'all think im doin this, cos i wuddnt do that to bash ma dude RM.
this is more bout understandin the language, ok

all im sayin is this, and it's very simply.
U d 1 makin it all so complex.
What i kno is this and it's a fact.
FAN is an abrrv. of FANATIC, i dint make it so, so dont blame, that's what it is.
Locally i kno UGO is also an abrrv for UGOCHUKWU- Fact, i didnt make that either.
So it's either u agree wit the linguistic authority who made it so or not.

What i said in plain english is also a fact.
U cannot be a fan of sth if u aint fanatic bout it, very simple mata oo!
if u a fan of sth it's cos u fanatic bout it, and u fanatic bout it cos u a fan of it,
is that so confusin for u. The prob i suspect is that u'v always picture fanatism
n ur mind as sth which is really not.
one defination of FANATISM reads:
a person with an obsessive interest in and enthusiasm for something, esp. an activity
and:
filled with or expressing excessive zeal

aint these what being a fan is eldeehuhhuh
No?
ok, a defination of fan reads:
a person who has a strong interest in or admiration for a particular sport, art form, or famous person
sohuh? I rest ma case.
U still think ma observation is wrong?
i think not. grin

DBR, I'm on phone so maybe that's why I don't see it. . . . .From my end what I see is a pic of Modenine wearing a spots jacket with a T-shirt underneath and face cap turned backwards. . . .he's holding his head which is slightly bent and staring downwards. . . .underneath, The DaVinci Code is written in a flame of fire, abi nah?. . . .The only thing that sorta relates to the origin of the album name is the character/calligraphy in which the 'davinci' was written IMO. . . .How does the pic relate pls? Waiting for you to break it down. . . . . . . ?

Btw. . . .by generic, I mean the typical 9ja rap/hip-hop artistes album cover of pics of their faces or themselves wearing baffs & blings, trying to look fine, tough or baaad, lol.
@semid4lyfe
seriously i get watya sayin and its very valid.
and eldee, u r sooooo on point too.
im just sayin that if u wanna see a tie btw the cover as simple as it is,

Come on . . . I'm not talking about poetic licence, I'm talking basic everyday usage.
Nah . . . 'fan' and 'fanatic' are distant synonyms just the same way 'anger' and 'exasperation', 'respect and adoration' are.
That line is purrfect in the everyday use of the word. . . a fan in everyday use of the word is less obsessive than a fanatic, and a fanatic is less obsessive than an addict.

When you say sumn like 'I was angry', it does not carry the same emphatic weight as 'I reacted in exasperation'.

The thesarus gives so many words which bear any resemblance to the main word. One of the synonyms of 'tall' in my dictionary is 'giant' . . . does that mean the same thing??
Can u pls quote anywhere i said Fan is a synonym of fanatichuhhuh?

irrespective of usage and all~~
is FAN an abrreviation of FANATIC or not, very simple o.

Now H.Jizzle, u lost me wit this ^^^^^.
If i got it a lil twisted, u just megally mangled itgrin
Break it down slowly, or lemme do that, ok

Is the emphasy on the the adjective "an"?
that droppings is basic vowel/consonant influenced naauww.

Whether U 1st become a fan b4 u become an addict or be an addict which makes u a fan,
that is a different thang! It's not what is on d burner.

The basic thing is FAN is an abrreviation of FANATIC,
im just sayin being a fan is being fanatic and butressed it by the synonyms of FAN
which had ADDICT and ENTHUSIASM, which are wat being FANATIC is all 'bout. Kapish.

Forget the creative licence street vocab when we droppin barz, i kno small book o grin grin

Nah, you can't exactly say that . . . the modern usage of the word 'fanatic' is different from 'fan'.
You never hear anyone saying, I'm a big 'fanatic' of Nas . . . but you hear them say 'He's a star warz fanatic'

Fanatic is more like an obsessive follower, that's what Rugged was trying to convey.
But I still think the line was weak
Oh yes i can exactly say that!
Except u r sayin Fan aint an abrrv. of Fanatic. Whether modern or not.
The usage may differ, but that dont change the fact it's an abrrev.
So yes, i can say it~~authoritatively.
If u say u r a fan of sth, whether u realise it or not u sayin u r Fanatic bout wat u sayin u a fan of!
Check the synonyms of FAN~~im sure u'll find Enthusiast and Addict.
Can u be more "fanatical" that an addict?

Not really but he could have played around the theme of the 'The Vitruvian Man' and come out with something. . . . .Just cast your mind back to Malcolm IX (The Lost Sessions) and the image of Modenine silhouetted against bars in prison and you'll understand what I'm talking about. . . .that album cover was very apt and it was very descriptive & it covered. . . . the reference to Malcolm X, his hip-hop activism, advocacy of real hip-hop in 9ja etc. . . .You can correlate all this to the real Malcolm X nah. . . . .as in that Album cover was symbolic. . . It spoke to me. . . . .so did Paradigm Shift. . . .Mode is a very Knowledgeable fellow who has read far & wide. . . . .I'm sure he knows a thing or two about Symbology. . . . .he could have pulled it off with Davinci Mode too if he really wanted to. . . . .I'm afraid the album cover of 'The Davinci Mode' is too generic & doesn't speak to me

U can step out of the confession booth now~~
Go and sin no more ma child, your sins r forgiven grin grin grin

Ok, to other issues, u are absolutely right!
If it's bout conceptuality, the imagery doent carry the concept of the title. it's very obvious.
But lookin at it witotut the album title in mind, the imagery is mature/linda sutble too,
u can deduce a whole lot of meanin from that, but i wont even push it.
But note there are times a title and imagery push a concept,
there r time the imagery pushes it(happens mostly when the album is self named
then the image reveals the creative direction)
and some times the Title alone pushes it.
Plus, it depends on which is derived from an existin known concept,
u gotta down play one element for the other~~ some times.

Good obsrvation tho.
