There will never be enough superlatives to describe Lionel Messi's career and even as we reach the end of his glittering run, the Argentine maestro continues to break records.

As Lionel Messi turns 36 and prepares for his next adventure far away in the United States, we take a look at 5 absurd records by the Argentine that will likely never be broken.

Most goals in a calendar year - 91
In 2012, Messi broke the longstanding record of 85 goals, scoring 91 for Barcelona. Messi, under Pep Guardiola, reached unfathomable heights in the False 9 role and the goals flowed like water.

Most LaLiga hat-tricks - 36
Scoring one hat-trick is a dream for a striker, let alone 5. Now imagine 36 of those in one lifetime and this is just in the league. Messi scored 36 hat-tricks for Barcelona in Laliga and if he hadn't moved on, surely would have clocked 40.

Most LaLiga goals - 474
This is yet another record that would surely be impossible to break, or at least close to impossible.

Messi scored 474 goals in Spain before moving to PSG and with Karim Benzema gone and LaLiga not boasting any young consistent marksmen, it is impossible to see this record ever being broken.

Most Ballon d'Or wins - 7
Lionel Messi finally won the World Cup and was the tournament's best player, which means in a few months, this number could very well be 8.

Manchester City's Erling Haaland would have something to say about that but the consistency levels required to achieve this feat are almost superhuman.

To dominate a sport to this extent while being in constant competition with the game's other great star in Cristiano Ronaldo speaks volumes. Hard to see this one ever being broken.

5. Most goals for a single club - 672
This is one record that will probably never be broken, at least not in this lifetime. Just for context, Erling Haaland would need 13 seasons scoring 50 goals for Manchester City to even come close.

You can't disagree really, either. 672 goals is simply a remarkable feat, Messi is simply remarkable

According to sources, Neymar's father is arrested for an alleged crime in Brazil and could face a ₦900 million fine.

According to reports, Neymar Jr.'s father was detained on Thursday after carrying out illegal construction on his son's property in Rio de Janeiro.

The Mangaratiba Municipal Environment Department, the Environmental Military Police, and the Environmental Protection Group members of the municipality all participated in the arrest as part of an operation.

Prior to his detention, Neymar Da Silva Santos allegedly got into an argument with Shayenne Barreto, Mangaratiba's secretary of the environment.

Neymar Snr. was released, but the Paris Saint-Germain player's father received a warning that personnel in charge of carrying out the task needed "more education," according to Brazilian publication UOL Sport.

A video that Neymar Jr. posted to Instagram is believed to depict an artificial lake that the former Barcelona player is constructing at his home, and it is this video that sparked the original complaint of an environmental crime, which has been lodged with Mangaratiba City Hall.

Genesis Ecossistemas, the business mentioned, constructs lakes and natural swimming pools

According to a report, the lake on Neymar Jr.'s property "promotes deforestation, rock breaking, and the diversion of a river."

From the prohibited work, the investigation uncovered a number of environmental violations, including "the diversion of a water course, extraction of river water without authorisation, extraction of water for an artificial lake, earthworks, excavation, and movement of stones and rocks without authorisation."

Neymar Sr. received a fine that is thought to be around £822,000 (five million Brazilian reals) due to the property damage the work produced.

After delivering a confusing public apology to his pregnant girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi, his son recently made news.

Neymar's unclear playing future this summer as a result of an injury-plagued PSG season is another concern he must deal with.

Although Manchester United has been mentioned in connection with Neymar, new rumors have suggested he may stay at PSG, who are apparently close to hiring Luis Enrique, his former Barcelona manager.

The Messi vs Ronaldo debate is one that may not end any time soon.

Last week, we saw football fans going all out to embrace and show reference to, without doubt the two biggest football stars since the era of Pele and Maradona.

Two fans went the extra-mile, invading the football pitch to steal a few moments with their footballing icon- one in Portugal, the other in faraway Asia.

The pitch invader in Lisbon Portugal bowed to Cristiano Ronaldo after managing to get a hug from the Al Nassr forward.

During Argentina’s game against Australia in China, another fan invaded the pitch and met Lionel Messi. When he was eventually marshalled away by security, he didn’t mind; he had a priceless look of fulfilment on his face.

In spite of this, the comparison and debate of who the greater player is between the new Inter Miami hire and the former Manchester United player have refused to go away.

Asukwo Oduo of Pulse Sports, in this article, x-rays 7 remarkable achievements by Cristiano Ronaldo that puts him ahead of the Argentine captain.

1. Won the Ballon d'Or while in England
Before Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2003, only one footballer plying his trade in England had won the Ballon d'Or.

England wonderkid Michael Owen while playing for Merseyside club Liverpool won the Ballon d'Or in 2001 and since then no other player in the EPL enjoyed such success.

However, that quickly changed when Ronaldo came onboard after Manchester United paid £12.24m for his signature.

The forward quickly showed why he's highly rated by everyone including Sir Alex Ferguson and that he was worth every penny of his then transfer record for a teenager.

Although English clubs have seen some exceptional talents in the likes of Thierry Henry, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, and Alan Shearer, none was deemed good enough to pick up the Ballon d'Or.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the only exception when he won the award in 2008 when he was only 23.

He scored an outstanding 42 goals in 49 matches for the Red Devils as they won both the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

2. Highest International Goalscorer
For decades, Iranian legend Ali Daei held the record for the most goals (109) in the men's international football.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo's penchant for goals and his hardwork eventually helped him to surpass the age-long record set by the Iranian footballer.

Ronaldo scored two headers in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ireland to move past the record set by Ali Daei.

Cristiano Ronaldo now has 122 international goals, while Lionel Messi has 103 goals in his international career so far.

3. Best Goal Ratio in LaLiga History
Although Lionel Messi is the highest goalscorer in LaLiga's history, but Cristiano Ronaldo remains the most lethal striker in the Spanish league.

During his 17-year spell at Barcelona, Lionel Messi scored a total of 474 goals in 520 matches while Cristiano Ronaldo notched up 311 goals in 292 appearances for Real Madrid.

Lionel Messi’s goal ratio stands at 0.911 while Ronaldo has a superior one pegged at 1.065 goals per game.

4. Most Followed Footballer on Social Media
Following celebrities on social media is one way football fans show their love and admiration for their favourite stars.

A footballer’s fanbase on social media is also a show of their popularity and how much love and respect they enjoy because of their contributions to their national teams and their clubsides.

When Lionel Messi left PSG, the French club lost millions of followers on social media and PSG’s loss were Inter Miami’s gain as the MLS side quickly gained millions of followers on Instagram.

In the same vein when Cristiano Ronaldo join Saudi Pro League Al Nassr, the TV coverage and followership of the club and the league in general increased tremendously.

Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo is the most popular footballer on Instagram with 591 million followers. Lionel Messi comes a distant second with 474 million followers.

Others in the top 10 most followed footballers on Instagram include Neymar Jnr, Kylian Mbappe, and Kareem Benzema.

5. UCL trophies
Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have score over 800 goals in their careers and have led their teams to phenomenal heights.

However, when it comes to the number of UEFA champions league medal won, Ronaldo is ahead of Lionel Messi.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is not far behind as he has won the UCl on four occasions with FC Barcelona.

Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Kareem Benzema, Luka Modric, Marcelo and 5 others have all won the coveted UCl trophy five times. CR7 won one with Manchester United and four with Los Blancos.

He led Real Madrid to a dominant era after they won La Decima in 2014, they went on to make the UCl trophy the ‘sole preserve’ of the Bernabeu side, winning it in three succession between 2016-2018.

However, Spaniard Francisco Gento holds the record for the most UCL titles, having won six in the colours of Real Madrid.

The Pukas award is one that has continued to elude Lionel Messi despite being nominated for the award on seven occasions.

Extras

Conversely, Messi enjoyed success with Barcelona before moving to PSG, where he also won the French Ligue 1.

Antony's ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin has given more details about her alleged abuse by the Manchester United star.

Manchester United’s Antony could be in more trouble as his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Callavin has shed more light on the domestic abuse she suffered.

The influencer told Portuguese news media outlet UOL Esporte that she was not only abused by the Brazilian winger but also got life threats.

What Cavallin said about Antony

Cavallin was quoted by Goal:

"He attacked me, shoved me against the door (of the car). There, I said to myself: 'It's over'.

"He broke my suitcase, took my handbag, my passport. He broke my mobile phone, he wouldn't let me go. I was a prisoner from 10pm to almost 3.30am. I call it private captivity. I just wanted to get out of there and he told me that I wouldn't leave until I erased everything. I think his mother called his physiotherapist and asked for help. No one could control it."

Back in May, Antony was accused of molesting his girlfriend before United’s away trip to play Bournemouth.

A case was then filed against Antony in Brazil as Cavallin claimed the 23-year-old inflicted bodily injuries and threatened her life.

Eden Hazard has struggled to live up to the expectation since he completed his move from Chelsea to Real Madrid.

The Belgian completed his transfer to Madrid for a fee worth £130 million in the summer of 2019 after an impressive spell at Chelsea.

The former Chelsea forward made 352 appearances and scored 92 goals during his seven years spell at Stamford Bridge.

Since his move to Real Madrid, he was only able to score 12 goals in 76 appearances in the space of four years.

Hazard has had a difficult career at Madrid and here are the reasons why the former Chelsea man failed to live up to the expectation in Spain.

1. Price tag
According to Sky Sports, Eden Hazard was bought from Chelsea for a hefty price tag worth £130 million in 2019 which was the highest transfer fee that summer.

However, he could not replicate his performance at Chelsea for Madrid and fell down the pecking order.

Hazard’s price tag was an issue which also affected his performance in Madrid and added more pressure to his game.

He was expected to fill in the shoes of Cristiano Ronaldo but the hefty price tag and the pressure that came with it derailed his performance

2. Accumulated fatigue at Chelsea
Another problem that affected Hazard was that during his playing days at Chelsea, he was playing week-in-week-out.

He played over 350 games for Chelsea without adding international games to his appearances.

During his last season at Chelsea before moving to Real Madrid he got injured towards the end of the season and was rushed back due to the Europa League final clash against Arsenal.

He accumulated a lot of fatigue when he was still playing for Chelsea which also affected his performance after moving to Real Madrid.

3. Multiple Injury
His injury issues started during his last season at Chelsea and ever since then, he has always been in and out of the treatment table.

According to the Mirror, Eden Hazard has picked up a total of 18 injuries for Real Madrid during the space of four years.

The re-occurrence of these injuries has affected him physically and psychologically as he struggles to stay fit.

4. Pressure
One issue Hazard also struggled with at Real Madrid was the pressure that comes with playing for 14 times Champions League winners.

Eden Hazard was signed by Real Madrid to replace one of the best players in the world Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 450 goals in 438 appearances which is a big shoe to fit in.

The standard Ronaldo had set before leaving Madrid was a very high standard and Hazard could not replace the Portuguese forward and replicate his performance as many expected.

5. Played his best football for Chelsea
The Belgian could not give much to Madrid after giving his best to Chelsea and was close to being nominated for the world's best player.

Hazard's performance at Chelsea was phenomenal and took the Premier League by storm and tormenting defenders was his major goal.

He was unable to do what he does best at Chelsea when he moved to Madrid because there was nothing else he could give.

6. Ageing
Football players are on the cusp of their career's peak and its final stretch at the age of 30. Hazard's situation.

His chances have only been harmed by entering this struggle at the latter stage of his football career and had limited time to adjust, which reduces the likelihood of atonement.

Hazard also began to exhibit the consequences of his physique and quickness in his game and was unable to perform as well as he did while playing for Chelsea.

7. Positioning
Hazard's placement for Chelsea and Real Madrid appears to be identical, but the playing spaces have been very different.

In Chelsea, he began from the left and frequently dipped inside to produce or shoot which has not happened in Madrid.

In his final season at Chelsea, Hazard operated in the area behind the striker, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists.

The playmaker has struggled thus far in the Spanish city and has not been able to experience similar success.

Belgian forward Eden Hazard is reportedly set to shock the world with his next career move

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid star Eden Hazard is reportedly set for a shock move to Belgian second-division side RWD Molenbeek, which just gained promotion to the top flight following the end of his Real Madrid stint.

Hazard considers next step after Real Madrid exit

The forward is out of contract after leaving Real Madrid following a terrible Real Madrid career that saw him fail miserably to live up to his enormous transfer fee in a purchase from Chelsea.

Hazard endured a poor spell with Los Blancos that saw him score four goals in four years in LaLiga and eventually become just a bit-part player at the club, playing less than 500 minutes in all competitions in the entire 2022/23 campaign with Real Madrid.

The Belgian forward was forced to terminate his Real Madrid contract one year early after clearly failing to make an impact in the team and with Los Blancos enforcing an attacking clearout to make room for new signings.

Hazard close to signing with newly-promoted Molenbeek
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Hazard could be tempted to make his next step with newly promoted Molenbeek as he looks to get his career back on track.

Hazard has received propositions from the USA and Saudi Arabia despite being rumoured to be considering retirement from football due to the difficulty of his Real Madrid spell, but he could now be tempted by a move to Molenbeek to play alongside his brother Kylian.

Considering the financial windfall from the termination of his Real Madrid contract, Hazard could move to Molenbeek without putting financial pressure on the newly-promoted club, giving him the freedom to play his best football once again in his native Belgium.

The investigation into Dani Alves' alleged case of rape has reportedly reached its conclusion and the former Barcelona defender now has a trial date.

Dani Alves could finally know his fate regarding the allegations for which he is accused.

The 40-year-old Brazilian footballer is accused of raping a 23-year-old lady at a Suton nightclub in Barcelona on the night of December 30.

Alves has been incarcerated in temporary detention since January 20 when he was arrested, and has seen all his appeals for bail thrown out the window by the presiding judge of the Barcelona court.

Dani Alves has also seen his marriage to Joana Sanz crash, after the 29-year-old model already declared her intention to divorce the former Pumas and Barcelona defender.

Dani Alves trail date revealed amid sexual assault charges
The date for Alves trial has finally come to light as the 40-year-old could soon know his fate having been imprisoned for over a 100 days.

According to El Periódico, a trial date has been fixed for Dani Alves whose reputation has already taken a hit.

The victim of the footballer no longer has to actively defend herself when sexually assaulted, according to the Penal code.

According to sources consulted by the Catalan media, Dani Alves’ trial is expected to take place between October and November this year.

The Brazilian player has been in custody for almost five months for observing the court risk of flight since he is a native of a country with which Spain does not have an extradition agreement.

The Prosecutors office has always been opposed to his release as they also believe the footballer has an advantage due to his economic muscle that would favour his escape.

Should Alves be found guilty, the former PSG and Juventus defender could face between eight to 10 years in prison.

Nigeria Super Eagles and SSC Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen has paid tribute to other African players around the world but believes he should be at the top.

SSC Napoli hero and Nigeria Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has reacted to suggestions that he is the next African Footballer of the Year.

Osimhen has put his name forward following comments made by the Napoli hero during a chat with journalists in Lagos.

Osimhen aims to win the African player award
The 24-year-old was one of the last players to arrive at the Nigeria Super Eagles camp in Lagos ahead of a crucial AFCON qualifier later today.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are guests this Sunday in Monrovia as they tackle Sierra Leone with a ticket to the 2023 AFCON at stake.

The Super Eagles camped in Lagos before travelling to Monrovia for the clash with Napoli’s Osimhen and Bright Osayi-Samuel the last to join in.

After their training at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Osimhe spoke with the media during a greet and meet session with journalists at their Eko Hotels and Suites home.

Responding to a question from Pulse Sports Nigeria on being the next African Footballer of the Year, Osimhen says he has done enough to deserve to be at the top in Africa and the world.

I think with the kind of season i had and everything that i have put in - the work i have done individually, collectively for my club (and) myself, i think i deserve to be top in world football (and) in terms of even African footballer of the year,” he said.

Osimhen pays tribute to African players
While he believes he deserves the crown as Africa’s next football king, Osimhen remains humble, leaving everything to God as he pays tribute to other Africans.

“Like i said, a lot of Africans have done so well for themselves and respective clubs also,” he added.

“But if God wills it, I am going to win it. If not, I will keep on working hard till I win it,” he added.

Osimhen and the Super Eagles are already in Monrovia ready for the important battle against their host Sierra Leone.

The Super Eagles are currently second in Group A behind Guinea-Bissau.

However, Nigeria could become the latest country to seal a ticket to Ivory Coast with a win over the Leone Stars.

Eden Hazard said he will not be retiring from football very soon, in fact, he wants to enjoy his summer holiday before choosing where he will be playing next season.

Eden Hazard was reported to be considering retirement after his contract was terminated by Real Madrid this summer.

The Belgian midfielder was paid half of his annual salary to leave the Santiago Bernabeu with a year left on his contract.

It is understood that the 32-year-old will reportedly hang his boots after struggling to hit top form in the last three years due to recurring injuries.

However, the former Chelsea star player has broken his silence saying that he is still much available to play the game.

What Hazard said about retirement

Hazard was quoted by Spanish news media outlet Mundo Deportivo:

“It is true that in recent days I have read a lot about myself. And a lot of nonsense. Going to Racing White Darin Molembeek with my brother? I don't know if it's stupid, we'll see...

“I know I'm not giving you the answers you expect but, honestly, I still don't have them. Having said that, I assure you that I am still capable of being a professional footballer, my body can handle it. I have been resting for two or three years, I still have energy.”

Speaking about his next destination Hazard stated that he will like go ease off with his family during the summer holiday before making his decision.

He continued:

“In this way, Hazard left the door open to any possibility in his future that, yes, he will decide after the holidays with his family. "After these three difficult years, I just want to spend time with my family, go on vacation like everyone else..."

A tribute was paid to Hazard during Belgium’s 1-1 draw with Austria in a Euro 2024 qualifier game played in Brussels.

Hazard was driven in an open roof car as he waved to thousands of fans inside the stadium for a proper farewell.

Manchester United are set to make one final push for Chelsea's Mason Mount after having a £40m bid rejected earlier this week.

Manchester United are reportedly set to go back in for Mason Mount with an even bigger offer as the Red Devils hope to strike an agreement with Chelsea early in the transfer window.

Man United to make final attempt to land Mount
Mount has emerged as a top target for United boss Erik ten Hag and the club had a substantial offer rejected for the England midfielder on Wednesday, believed to be around £40million.

According to Mirror Football, Chelsea value Mount at £70m, but with the player about to enter the final year of his contract, United feel their valuation of £50m is far more realistic.

The report further states that United's newest offer is likely to be their last, with the pressure now on Chelsea to either accept or risk Mount entering the final year of his contract and potentially leaving for nothing next summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo after agreeing personal terms with the Ecuadorian.

Al-Nassr are in talks to sign Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech as the Saudi Pro League revolution continues.

Hakim Ziyech could be the latest big-name star to swap Europe for the Middle East as Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr step up plans to land the Moroccan.

Ziyech's Chelsea future in doubt

Ziyech was largely unused by former Chelsea boss Graham Potter and continued to play a muted role under interim boss Frank Lampard.

The former Ajax man nearly joined Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window until the deal collapsed at the last minute.

Ronaldo link up for Ziyech?

Now according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a move to the Saudi Pro League is in the offing for the Moroccan, with Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr the most interested.

With new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino clearing out the deadwood, Ziyech is guaranteed very little playing time, should he remain at the club and a transfer seems the best idea for both parties at this stage.

Sevilla could provide a safe haven for former Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos who is desperate to return to LaLiga

Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos could be set for a return to LaLiga after reportedly rejecting an offer from Saudi Arabia to join former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Gulf.

Sergio Ramos not open to Saudi Arabia move
Ramos is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain after his two-year deal ran out at the end of the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season, and speculation has been circling about where the former Spain international will spend the next campaign.

The 2010 World Cup winner has been approached by the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli for a possible summer move that will see him earn a truckload of money, following in the footsteps of Benzema, Ronaldo, and N’Golo Kante, who have all made the transition from Europe to Asia to earn a final big payday.

Sevilla looking to bring Sergio Ramos back for a second spell
Despite the temptation of an offer of that magnitude, it is believed that Ramos would prefer a move back to LaLiga with former club Sevilla willing to provide a platform for the former Spain captain.

At 38 years old, many clubs will not be willing to risk a move for Ramos, but Sevilla are apparently willing to take a chance on their former academy graduate.

Ramos spent the formative years of his career with Sevilla, training in their academy for eight years before playing for the first team in 2004.

After a breakthrough year at Sevilla, Ramos joined Real Madrid and spent the next 16 years of his career with Los Blancos.

The defender could be set for a return to his former side this summer, however, as the seven-time UEFA Europa League champions seek to make additions to their squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.

LaLiga giants Real Madrid could be making a second signing from Borussia Dortmund as they eye a move for German forward Karim Adeyemi

Real Madrid are rumoured to be in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund starlet Karim Adeyemi after completing a move for another BVB star, Jude Bellingham, this week.

Real Madrid eye Adeyemi move
Real Madrid are in the market for forwards after losing Karim Benzema, Mariano Diaz, Eden Hazard, and Marco Asensio this summer and could be on the lookout for the talented German forward to boost their ranks ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Los Blancos also have their sights set on Spain international record-breaker Joselu, who starred for Espanyol in LaLiga last season but could be tempted to forego that option in favour of a longer-term solution in Adeyemi, who is 21 years old, while Joselu is 33.

The interest in Adeyemi comes just days after Real Madrid unveiled their latest signing from Dortmund, English midfielder Jude Bellingham, who will no doubt give Los Blancos the inside scoop on one of his former teammates.

Real Madrid looking to make second Dortmund signing of the summer
German newspaper BILD reports that a deal for Adeyemi so soon after the Bellingham signing could be a real possibility as the clubs are on good terms with one another, which could make a deal for the German youngster easy.

Adeyemi impressed with Borussia Dortmund in the 2022/23 season, as they came within 90 minutes of claiming a first Bundesliga title in almost a decade.

The German forward scored six goals and assisted six more in 20 Bundesliga starts helping Dortmund to the brink of glory before they eventually threw away the title on the last day of the season against Mainz.

Adeyemi can play anywhere across the frontline and would be a great addition to the Real Madrid team which currently lacks depth in all forward positions.

FIFA's president Gianni Infantino has announced that they will partner with Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior in their efforts to combat racism

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is set to lead FIFA’s newest anti-racism efforts, which the body says will ensure that “there will be no more football with racism in it.”

Vinicius set to partner FIFA in anti-racism efforts

Vinicius has been the victim of several race-fuelled attacks during LaLiga matches, including a recent incident between Real Madrid and Valencia, where the match had to be stopped following offensive chanting from Los Che supporters against the Brazilian defender.

The 22-year-old winger was incensed following the incident and was critical on social media of LaLiga’s handling of that and other similar incidents that had involved him.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino showed support for Vinicius on that occasion and has followed this up by incorporating the Brazilian star into world football’s governing body’s efforts to combat the racism problem.

Infantino meets with Vinicius on racism policy
Speaking ahead of Brazil’s friendly against Guinea on Saturday, which is set to be used as part of an anti-racism campaign by the Brazilian FA, Infantino said he had spoken with Vinicius, hoping that the Brazilian and other players could help FIFA come up with stricter punishments for racially charged incidents.

Speaking to Reuters, Infantino said, "I asked Vinicius to lead this group of players that will present stricter punishments against racism that will later be implemented by all football authorities around the world.

"We need to hear the players and what they need to work in a safer environment. We are very serious about it.

"We will implement very blunt and strong punishments to end once and for all with the problem of racism in football. We can't tolerate racism anymore. As president of FIFA, I feel I needed to talk personally with Vinicius about it.”

FIFA hopes to implement real measures that will finally bring about a change in the way these incidents are handled, not just in Spain but in all its member nations.

Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has given a warning to his detractors, saying that they will one day talk about him to their children.

After Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro named his 23-man team for the AFCON qualification match against Sierra Leone in Monrovia, Musa, 30, has taken a lot of criticism in the past 24 hours.

Critics of the all-time leader in Super Eagles caps flocked to Twitter, as they had in the past, to demand that his name be removed.

Ahmed Musa took to social media to respond to call-up
On Saturday, June 10, Musa replied to his critics on his official Instagram account.

Along with a photo was a message that said, “Like me or hate me, a day will come that you will tell your kids a story about Ahmed Musa MON.”

With nine points from four games, the Super Eagles lead their qualifying group, while the Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau are in second place with seven points.

On day 1 of the qualifying series in Abuja, the Leone Stars gave the Eagles a good fight before losing 2-1 and they are third with five points.

With just one point, Sao Tome and Principe sit last in the standings and face the Super Eagles on the series' last day in September.

On Sunday, June 18, Nigeria and Sierra Leone square off at the Samuel Kanyon Doe venue in Monrovia since Sierra Leone lacks a venue in their nation that has been authorized for international competition.

Peseiro released his 23-man list for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying clash against Sierra Leone later this month.

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has named his squad for Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone, with the list causing controversy again.

Regulars like Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, William-Troost Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho were all included.

However, like any other list, Peseiro handed calls to some players not deserving of an invite, including Ahmed Musa, who keeps making this list despite his lack of game time.

Musa’s invitation was met with criticism once again, with fans criticising Peseiro for sticking with the same set of old guards.

But Musa’s invitation was not the only controversial decision Peseiro took. The Portuguese tactician also left some in-form players out of his squad.

With that said, we look at the five biggest players Peseiro snubbed from his list.

Terem Moffi (Nice)
Moffi must be wondering what he needs to do to get called up consistently after he was snubbed again.

Since he made his debut two years ago, Moffi has been in and out of the team, although he was in the team last time out against Guinea-Bissau.

However, he is not in the squad this time, which is surprising considering he has been one of Nigeria’s best players this season.

One of the criteria for an invitation to the national team is good performance at club level. But it appears that is not the case in Nigeria.

Only Osimhen scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues than Moffi’s 17 strikes this season.

Yet, he is not good enough to be in a squad that has Musa, who has played just 427 minutes of league football this season.

Victor Boniface
Boniface is another player who should have been called up after an impressive season with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Although, unlike Moffi, Boniface has not played for Nigeria, he was expected to earn his first invitation after a successful season with Union SG.

The 22-year-old finished with seven goals and seven assists in the Belgian League this season and was also Europa League’s joint-top scorer with six goals.

But despite his impressive performances, Peseiro did not deem him worthy to be invited. A strange decision.

Gift Orban
Before this year, Gift Orban was an unknown player in the lower division of Norway. But since the turn of the year, Orban’s profile has been on the rise.

The 20-year-old joined Gent from Staebek in January and has been one of the stars of the Belgian top flight since his arrival.

Orban scored 20 goals and set up another two in 22 games after joining Gent. He has been tipped to be the next big superstar to come out of the Belgian League, yet he has not been selected by Peseiro.

What makes his absence more disappointing is that Orban fits into the style of Peseiro perfectly, the same as Boniface and Moffi, yet they were all sidelined.

Raphael Onyedika
For a very long time, the Super Eagles have been searching for a fresh breed of midfielders after years of recycling.

It has been a difficult search, but Raphael Onyedika emerged this season. Like Orban and Boniface, Onyedika is also one of the best youngsters in the Belgian League with Club Brugge.

The Nigerian joined the dethroned Belgian champions last summer from FC Midtjylland after he was initially linked with a move to AC Milan.

Onyedika took to his new environment like a fish inside water, playing a key role for Club Brugge.

The FC Ebedei product played a whopping 49 games in all competitions for the dethroned Belgian champions, and he is one of the best midfielders Nigeria have right now.

However, for reasons known to him, Peseiro has decided not to hand the 22-year-old a second international call-up.

Chuba Akpom
Akpom is another attacker left out despite scoring more than any striker in the English Championship this season.

The former Arsenal star won the Golden Boot and was named the player of the season in England’s second division after scoring 29 goals for Middlesbrough.

Still, it was not good enough to earn him a spot in Peseiro’s squad. Akpom grew up in the UK but switched international allegiance to Nigeria a few years ago, so it was not a case of him not being ready.

In fairness, Nigeria’s attacking department is full of many options. Still, it is ridiculous to say Moses Simon and Ahmed Musa deserved an invitation ahead of Akpom, considering the season they all had at their respective clubs.

According to Israel Adesanya, he is better than the great Michael Jordan at one thing.

Nigerian and New Zealand professional mixed martial artist Israel Mobolaji Adesanya has talked up NBA great Michael Jordan.

At Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 287, "The Last Stylebender," who had been losing to Alex Pereira for years, finally won.

He appeared on the ImPaulsive podcast recently with presenters Logan Paul and Mike Majlak.'

To commemorate his recent partnership with Paul as a sponsor, the UFC champion joined the episode.

Adesanya indicated something he could do better than Michael Jordan besides fighting.

Adesanya on pettiness similar to Michael Jordan
Adesanya recently had a wrestling face off against Logan Paul that went viral on social media.

Mike Maljak and Israel Adesanya discussed Adesanya's petty behavior. Izzy was regarded by Maljak as "the king of pettiness."

Maljak and Adesanya brought up the incident involving Pereira's child.

Adesanya responded, “I’m the best. Michael Jordan is right here (Adesanya gestured with his hands), I think I am just over here or even like a notch above.

"I don’t wanna say, shout out to Mike, but like I like to believe that I am petty. Somethings I cane let go.”

All the opportunities Jordan personally displayed pettiness were chronicled in the Last Dance documentary.

In the same way, Adesanya took offense when Pereira's kid made fun of the Last Stylebender in 2022.

In order to improve his performance on the field, Michael Jordan was known for taking things personally.

Adesanya, though, thinks he can surpass the six-time NBA champion in terms of petty behavior.

Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze has said he is only concentrating on current club Villarreal, despite rumours linking him to Real Madrid
Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has denied reports linking him to a summer move to Real Madrid, stating that his current priority is his present club, Villarreal.

Chukwueze linked to Real Madrid after superb season

Chukwueze had been linked with a sensational move to Real Madrid after after scoring a brace against them at the Bernabeu in a season where he contributed a total of 13 goals and 11 assists in 51 appearances for the Yellow Submarine in all competitions.

The 24-year-old Nigerian winger is one of only a handful of LaLiga players to have managed double figures for both goals and assists in the 2022/23 season, and it was rumoured that his exploits had attracted the attention of Los Blancos.

Despite the constant rumours that Real Madrid want the Nigerian to fill the gap left by a number of departing forwards, Chukwueze has revealed that he knows nothing about the rumours and stated exactly where his focus will be going into the summer.

Chukweze only focused on Villarreal
Chukwueze stated in a recent interview with Panenka, that for all he knows, the rumours could be a lie and he did not want to get distracted by them.

He said, “People are always going to talk. I only think about Villarreal. I don’t read what they put on social media. That doesn’t matter. What matters is the moment.

“What if it’s a lie? What if it’s not real? I don’t know. For now, I don’t think it’s true. The only thing that is real is Villarreal.”

Chukwueze will be hoping to return to action with Villarreal, or indeed, Real Madrid, after the summer break, but first, he will be representing Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone after being called up by manager Jose Peseiro.

The Uefa Champions League final is upon us and Manchester City take on Serie A giants Inter Milan in Istanbul with a piece of history at stake.

Pep Guardiola is aiming to lead Manchester City to a historic treble success and Inter Milan led by Simeone Inzaghi are looking to win a competition no one gave them any chance to.

Here are 3 ways Inter can stop Manchester City.

1. Start Lukaku and Martinez together
Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are one of the deadliest striking combos you can find anywhere in the world. Fast, strong and can handle defenders on their own.

Edin Dzeko was excellent against Milan in the semifinals but he is 37 and the City defence will find it easier to deal with him due to his lack of pace. Lukaku, on the other hand, is sure to cause the City backline all sorts of problems with his strength and direct running. The Belgian is also in fine form, as is Lautaro Martinez.

2. Utilise set-pieces
Manchester City can be vulnerable to set-pieces and have shown that over the course of the season. Whether directly or via the second-ball, Inter Milan can exploit that weakness. Someone’s men have height in lukaku, Dzeko, Acerbi, Bastoni etc

A set-piece opportunity should not go to waste, especially seeing as the Italians will have very little possession over 90 minutes.

3. Pick your moments to press
The worst thing any side in Europa can do against this Manchester City side is to start pressing from the first minute. City are so good at evading the press that you are likely to get picked apart.

The best strategy is finding the right time to trigger the press. Inter will need to target the likes of Rodri, De Bruyne, Gundogan, and Grealish as specific players to be targeted.

Defeating Manchester City is tough but not impossible and Inter can show the world, they are no pushovers.

Messi happy to leave PSG

Big picture for Messi

Messi struggled to play at his best level in the first year in Paris but picked up last season, scoring and assisting goals at a high level. Still, it became clear very quickly that his future lay outside the shores of France.

The Nigerian striker had his best individual season this year, but it was not enough to earn him the top award.

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen finished fifth in the race for the European golden boot this season despite finishing as Serie A’s top scorer.

Osimhen was the top man in Italy’s top flight this season after scoring 26 goals to fire Napoli to their first league title in 33 years.

Osimhen's best season yet
The former Lille striker finished five ahead of his closest rival, Lautaro Martinez, to become the first African player to win The Capocannoniere award in Italy.

It was Osimhen’s best-ever individual season, eclipsing his record last year. It was also the first time he scored over 20 league goals in his career.

However, despite enjoying his best season yet, Osimhen finished fifth in the race for Europe’s golden boot.

Haaland wins Europe's Golden Boot
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland finished top, as expected, after scoring 36 goals in his debut Premier League season.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane finished second following his 30 league goals in England’s top flight.

Kylian Mbappe was third following his 29 goals for Paris-Saint Germain, with Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette taking up the fourth spot after scoring 27 goals for Lyon.

Osimhen rounded up the top five with his 26 league goals for Napoli. Lille’s Jonathan David (24), Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski (23), Fenerbahce’s Ener Valencia (29), Lens’ Lois Openda (21) and Inter’s Martinez (21) made up the rest of the top ten.
