Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose on Friday, March 6, 2015 took yet another swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, reiterating that the former military Head of State of health, given that he campaigned in Nigeria for four weeks and took a 15 day break in the UK.

He made the assertion in response to General Buhari’s confession that he went to the UK to rest, stating that he has been vindicated by General Buhari, as he had maintained all the while that the former leader had gone to the UK to recuperate and seek medical attention.

Governor Fayose, who spoke via a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka also lampooned the APC for their planned one-million-man march in Lagos, saying it was designed to take the attention of the populace from the issue of General Buhari’s health, adding that such a march would cause confusion in the commercial hub.

Parts of the statement read: “A man who campaigned for four weeks, speaking for less than one hour in all the rallies put together and needed to rest for 15 days should just stay at home and be playing with his grandchildren rather than struggling to take up a job that he does not have the required mental and physical strength to do.

“They brought in Buhari like a thief in the night and now they want to put Lagosians into more hardships by blocking major roads all in the name of a phoney one-million-man match.

“Why not hold their rally in a designated place instead of embarking on a match that will cause chaos and hardships in the state?”

On general Buhari’s statement that he went to rest, Governor Fayose said: “who do we now believe? APC said Buhari went on working visit to UK while Buhari himself said he went to UK to rest.

“When asked by press men whether or not he ever visited any hospital in UK, Buhari said: ‘What is wrong for me to go the hospital?’

“By this statement from Buhari himself, it is clear that APC and its lying leaders tried to fool Nigerians, lying so brazenly and using fake pictures to authenticate their lies.

“Even though there is nothing wrong in Buhari going for medicare abroad, afterall he should be seeing his doctors more often at his age, it is shameful that APC lied so brazenly trying to cover up the obvious reasons Buhari travelled for 15 days.

“What is wrong is the lies told to defend Buhar’s trip to the UK to rest and seek medicare.The fake pictures of Buhari walking the streets of London, the fake Tony Blair picture and the use of pictures taken in Transcop Hilton, Abuja and claming that the pictures were taken in London is the main issue.

“Most importantly, presenting Buhari to us as a superhuman, who can never fall sick is what is wrong and Nigerians are expecting Buhari to apologise for all the lies told in an attempt to cover up the real reasons he (Buhari) travelled secretly to UK.”

A 31-year-old father has connived with his wife,23, to sell off their only child- a baby boy at the rate of N500, 000.

Gideon Ani who hails from Abia state was arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos state.

The man who had a wife named Victoria from Ebonyi state decided to marry the second woman simply identified as Joy because the first wife couldn’t bear him a child.

And now, the child arrived, all he could do was to sell him off to make some quick cash.

Speaking to the police during interrogation, Ani said, “I am jobless, I had no money and was suffering along with my family. Then a strange thought entered my mind.

“I thought about it for a while, and I realised that since the baby was mine, I could do whatever I wanted with him.”

He confided in his first wife who welcomed the idea and swung into action to ensure the deal struck positively.

Victoria, searched and finally found a buyer and they reached a consensus of exchanging the baby for N500,000.

A police source said, “The husband brought Joy from Abia State and lodged her at a motel in Orile area of Lagos. He took the baby from her under the guise of taking the baby to the clinic for treatment.”

According to Punch, Ani locked Joy inside a room in the motel where they lodged her in order to foil any intended escape attempt while he disappeared with her son.

It was learnt that the woman remained at the motel for about four days before she was fnally rescued by a staff who asked a floor manager to open the door.

The police source continued, “By the time they found the woman, she could not even speak properly anymore, she was too weak. She had no phone with her. She had not eaten for a long time.”

Joy was able to narrate the incident to the police at Orile division after she got back to her senses.

She directed the police on how they would locate her husband.

“We eventually found him and he also led us to where we arrested his first wife. The woman told us that she only agreed with the husband after he pressured her to go along with the plan,” the police source stated.

He added, “The first thing the man said was that he only gave the child out since it was his to give and that he did not actually collect money. But we later learnt that he gave him out N500,000 was agreed.”

The police have arrested the buyer of the baby, whose identity is still being kept secret.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that Ani and his first wife still maintain that no money had exchanged hands but the investigators at the DCI told Saturday PUNCH that whether they had been paid for the baby or not, they would get to the root of the matter.

When our correspondent visited the DCI, it was learnt that investigators had prevented journalists from photographing the suspects.

A relations of the first wife, whom our correspondent saw at the department explained that he could not comment as efforts were being made by their families to settle the issue.

The state Police Public Relations Officer,DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident adding that the boy has been given back to him mum after he was recovered.

ZHe further disclosed that the detectives had their hands on the deck to ensure that the father is brought to book.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) group has finally responded to the recent controversies trailing its Presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari and its National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu concerning their alleged corrupt practices.

In a message posted via their official Twitter page on Thursday, March 5, 2015, the party made it stand known by saying even if the People Democratic Party (PDP) provides a video of Buhari and Tinubu stealing from the bank, they will still support him.

Hollywood actor Harrison Ford has been injured in a small plane crash in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 5, 2014.

Officials from the fire department reveal that Ford suffered moderate trauma from the impact of the crash. He sustained moderate injuries and was evacuated from the crash scene conscious and breathing.

He was reportedly piloting a single-engine plane that crashed onto a golf course in Venice, near the Santa Monica Municipal Airport.

Aerial footage showed a plane on the ground and one person being treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital, NBC in Los Angeles reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

72-year-old Ford has been rushed to the hospital and is being treated for unknown injuries.
