General Muhammadu Buhari in UK I Will Maintain a Modest Lifestyle as President – Buhari…Will Resuscitate Nigerian Airways…All Presidential Aircrafts Will Be Brought Under Nigerian Airways “One of the major killer of our economy apart from corruption is Waste. Our scarce resources are being plunder away very carelessly and unnecessarily wasted. “Let me give an instance, presently, there are more than 6 aircraft in the presidential fleet. What do you call that? “Billions of naira is budgeted every year for the maintenance of these aircraft not to talk of operational cost and other expenses. “You may want to ask what a Nigerian President is doing with so much aircraft when a Prime Minister of Britain fly around using the same public aircraft like an ordinary Briton. “Go and check and compare with that of any developed country in the world, the office of the Nigerian President is a very expensive one inspite our high level of poverty and joblessness. “Despite all these, you still find a Nigerian Minister spending about N10billion to charter an aircraft for just one year. “Now, for me, when we come into office, all these waste will be blocked and properly channelled into our economy.”We intend for instance, to bring back our National carrier, the Nigerian Airways.”We shall do this by bringing all the aircraft in the presidential fleet into the Nigerian airway and within a year increase the fleet into about 20.”What is the difference between me and those who elected us to represent them, absolutely nothing. Why should Nigerian President not fly with other Nigerian public?”Why do I need to embark on a foreign trip as a president with a huge crowd with public funds?”Why do I need to go for foreign medical trip if we cannot make our hospital functional?”Why do we need to send our children to school abroad if we cannot developed our university to compete with the foreign ones?”Why, and why must our people be servants to the foreigners in the midst of plenty? I can go on and on.”I came here in the UK and I chose to trek just to make sure I sent a message back home to some people who wish us dead.”This is not my struggle, it is our collective efforts to save Nigeria from those who have failed us for 16 years.”- General Muhammadu Buhari speaking in London http://tonymomoh.com/general-muhammadu-buhari-in-uk/- founding member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Tony Momoh, |

Codeine Koó, Coding Nií drug abuse is rife in most developed nations. in every sector being run by Nigerian professionals, you find abuse, short cuts, all sorts of malfeasance, ineptitude, oppression, fraud, and on and on and on- education, healthcare, civil service, politics, business, traditional kingdoms, religion, entertainment. full of corrupt, greedy Nigerians.
that's why we looked round, scratched our heads and shrugged as we chose an octogenarian to rule us. again. as if an old dog had somehow learnt new tricks. but then, did we vote for his economic acumen? entrepreneurial success? management and administrative skills? we wanted someone, anyone who could put an end to OUR corrupt practices. and the messiah came. right?
when educated adults fail to take responsibility for their own shortcomings, you get Nigeria: a nation of educated illiterates, in dire need of enlightenment.
and come 2019, buhari winning. anyone care for a N100,000 bet? |

its issues like this that show how compromised everyone in govt is. who knows buhari's plans as petroleum minister? unfortunately, we're swamped by too many problems and fail hopelessly to tackle any one effectively. meanwhile, some guys are persistent in their claim that its fake news. who can verify? obailala: In the wake of the forex crisis, this is something I expected a serious government to have done; take mega loans, build about 10-20 modular refineries at the site of existing mega refineries, and as soon as projects are completed, concession the refineries to private operators for efficient and profitable management.
If that was done, not only would the loans be easily paid off, the forex crisis and recession would have been a thing of the past. But the government is rather waiting for Dangote to complete his mega refinery. |

wirinet: The annoying thing is that die hard supporters are trying to rationalise the obvious gaffe by Jonathan. Corruption is very difficult to prosecute because it is perpetuated by people in power, they use official documentation to cover up all their evil deeds and use their power to stall, impede and disrupt evidence necessary for prosecution.
Theft on the other hand is very easy to prosecute, you just need to catch the accused in possession of the stolen item or provide evidence (video or eyewitness) that the accused and you have a conviction. Ol boy, pls take cold water eh? gej quoted the cjn of the day. in trying to rubbish him, opposition left that part out. the cjn's article where he wrote a treatise on the issue was in the papers. government officials who collect bribes or kick backs are corrupt. fuel subsidy scam was corruption under gej. it's corruption under buhari. Abba Moro who was involved in the employment scam is corrupt. the above have very little to do with theft. crime of theft is properly enforced in our constitution. crime of corrupt enrichment has very little documentation in the constitution. that's why all the prosecutions are hanging in the air. EFCC was set up specifically to prosecute corruption but the last point renders it a toothless bulldog. There is no country on earth that feels stealing is a more serious crime- except Nigeria. there. questions answered. wirinet: You did not answer my question. So we should shouting "thief, thief on government officials who collect bribes or kick backs to do their jobs. We should be shouting thief, thief on government officials who were involved in the fuel subsidy scam. What is Abba Moro who was involved in the employment scam? We should shout thief, thief, right?
Are you aware that there is a crime of theft in out statute books, and there is a crime of corrupt enrichment. Are you also aware that EFCC was set up specifically to prosecute corruption and other related crimes. Are you saying EFCC should go after theft? Do you even know that corrupt enrichment is a far more serious crime than theft?
Corruption involves the abuse of authority or power for personal gain, either materially, financially or otherwise. There is no country on earth that feels stealing is a more serious crime than corruption. |
