While huawei was testing out the Honor Play, the Anandtech guys made some rather odd observations. Digging a little deeper, they found some a rather surprising discovery. Huawei Honor, have been ‘cheating’ and giving false information to achieve better scores in benchmark tests.

They first made note of this when the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro both got inferior scores to the Mate 10, although both phones had the same SoC, the Kirin 970. Similar results were seen with the newer Honor Play, which got them to look further into the growing suspicions.

They use this to boost their performance to higher levels just to obtain better scores. Huawei then takes these scores and uses them for their promotional material, giving false impressions to users. It’s quite disappointing to see a company like Huawei resort to these methods.

Anandtech met Dr. Wang Chenglu. Dr. Wang is the President of Software at Huawei’s Consumer Business Group.

Dr. Wang said that Huawei feels the numbers don’t represent the user experience of the device. Also according to Dr. Wang, faking benchmarks is supposedly a common practice in China where consumers are easily swayed by numbers, and Huawei needed to adapt to stay competitive. We honestly find this insulting, if not expected.

He also claimed that huawei needs these numbers to keep up with the competition who also allegedly boost their numbers.

Huawei claims they will ensure that future benchmark data in presentations is independently verified by third parties. We’re certainly hoping that this is the case, as we want Huawei to grow as a company.

Apple will hold a new autumn product launch on September 12, 2018. Goldman Sachs released an investment research report today, maintaining Apple’s stock “neutral” rating, raising the target price from $200 to $240, a few days before Apple’s annual iPhone event. Goldman expects Apple to release three new iPhones, the 6.1-inch iPhone9 with LCD screen, the 5.8-inch Phone XS and the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Plus based on OLED screens.

It is worth to mention that the 6.1-inch model SIM card slot shows that it supports Dual-SIM card, but a new report says that this version will be exclusive to China.

This is exactly the same as the previous reports of the media, although the specific names of the three new phones are still open to question. Goldman Sachs insists that for the iPhone 9, the price of 699 US dollars is unlikely and cheap. Sachs believes that the price of this phone is more reasonable from $800 to $849.

Goldman Sachs also said that the pricing of the apple iphone XS+ model will largely affect the average selling price of the new iPhones, which will ultimately affect Apple’s profits.

Huawei started this trend when it launched the Huawei P20 Pro with triple rear cameras. Since then, many OEMs are interested in doing same and we are likely to see the preponderance of triple rear camera devices and four and five rear camera devices.

Now, reports have it that Nokia is preparing a brand new camera flagship smartphone which will be equipped with five rear camera technology. It is expected to be mass-produced in the middle of next year and released in the second half of next year.

This report came from a new leak of a Nokia phone with five rear cameras. This smartphone has three vertical cameras and two horizontal cameras with an LED flash to the far right. There is no fingerprint sensor on the rear of this device thus it will most likely be on the front, perhaps an on-screen fingerprint sensor. Speculations also suggests that this camera has Zeiss certification.

On the bottom of the device, we can see the Android One logo which suggests that the configuration of this device will not be too high. This is where the whole speculation gets confusing. First, it is believed that Nokia is preparing a “flagship” smartphone with five rear cameras. Now, the supposed “flagship” comes with Android One which is quite strange. Nevertheless, it should be noted that this camera setup is too powerful to be used on an Android One phone.
