Corrupt INEC chairmen in Nigeria Corruption has been a persistent problem in Nigeria, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not been immune to this issue. There have been cases of corrupt INEC chairmen in Nigeria who have been accused of rigging elections, accepting bribes, and manipulating the electoral process for their own personal gain. One of the most notorious cases of corrupt INEC chairmen in Nigeria is that of Maurice Iwu, who served as the chairman of the commission from 2005 to 2010. Iwu was accused of manipulating the 2007 presidential elections in favor of the incumbent president, Olusegun Obasanjo. He was also alleged to have accepted bribes from politicians to manipulate the results of the elections in their favor. Iwu was eventually removed from office and faced corruption charges in court. Another case is that of Attahiru Jega, who served as the chairman of the INEC from 2010 to 2015. Jega is widely credited with introducing important reforms to the electoral process in Nigeria, including the use of biometric voter registration and the use of technology to transmit election results. However, there were still allegations of corruption and vote rigging during Jega's tenure, particularly in the 2011 elections. To address the issue of corrupt INEC chairmen in Nigeria, there is a need for greater transparency and accountability in the electoral process. This could involve measures such as increased public scrutiny of the INEC's activities, greater oversight by civil society organizations, and stricter enforcement of anti-corruption laws. It is also important to ensure that individuals appointed to leadership positions within the INEC are of high integrity and are committed to conducting free and fair elections.

BREAKING: Adamu announces Lawan as consensus candidate Crisis has hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the announcement of Senate President Ahmed Lawan as consensus presidential aspirant by the national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu Adamu made the announcement at the meeting of National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday in Abuja. Other aspirants including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Dr. Kayode Fayemi and David Umahi, among others will however be allowed to contest the primary at the convention holding tomorrow at the Eagle Square, Abuja. The NWC members insisted other aspirants must be given a level playing ground to compete. Adamu’s adoption of Lawan as consensus candidate is against the position of 11 APC northern Governors, who endorsed that power must shift to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure. Adamu told the National Working Committee that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Buhari. thenationonlineng.net

THE TRUE STORY BEHIND THE VIGILANTE WHO WAS KILLED AT LUGBE ABUJA FOR BLASPHEMY: They were actually a group of miscreants who committed crime and were arrested and on failing to get the vigilante to release their arrested friends, they lied that he blaspheme the prophet of Islam. They kill him for arresting criminals and refusing to release them. You see, when religious and political leaders refuse to condemn evil openly and take action against law breakers, they encourage such barbaric acts and good men will continue to pay with their lives for doing good. Anybody can wake up and call you a blasphemer any time he/she fail to influence you to do bad. Apparently if someone does not like your face in the North today all he has to do is frame you up like they did to Ahmad Musa and boom they roast you like suya. Political Affairs Int

Ouargla, Algeria The highest temperature ever reliably recorded in Africa was 51.3C in Ouargla in the Algerian Sahara desert, on 5 July 2018. There are plenty of historic claims for Africa’s hottest temperature – including 55C in Kebili, Tunisia, the current official record – but these all ring alarm bells because of the way they were recorded, at French and Italian military outposts during the colonial period. Mitribah, Kuwait Mitribah, a remote area of northwest Kuwait, hit a sweltering 53.9C on 21 July 2016. Not only was it the third highest temperature ever recorded, it’s also the highest temperature ever recorded for the continental region of Asia. Basra, Iraq A temperature of 53.9C was recorded at Basra International Airport in Iraq on 22 July 2016. Turbat, Pakistan Turbat, a city located in southern Balochistan, Pakistan, recorded the fourth highest ever temperature on 28 May 2017: 53.7C. Dallol, Ethiopia This hydrothermal field with salt formations, acidic hot springs, and gas geysers had an average daily maximum temperature of 41C recorded from 1960 to 1966. These soaring numbers mean it has the highest average temperature of any inhabited place on earth. Aziziyah, Libya The former capital of the Jafara district, 25 miles south of Tripoli, used to claim the title of hottest place on earth – in 1922 the temperature was recorded as a sweltering 58C. However, it was stripped of its title in 2012 when meteorologists declared this invalid due to a number of factors, including the fact that the person who recorded it was inexperienced. However, the town still regularly experiences temperatures of over 48C in midsummer. Quriyat, Oman The Omani city of Quriyat, which is located south-east of the capital Muscat, recorded the highest ever minimum – ie night-time – temperature on 26 June 2018. The mercury didn’t get below 42.6C that night, beating the previous record of 41.9C, also recorded in Oman. Dasht-e Loot, Iran This desert plateau has the hottest ground temperatures on the planet – satellite measurements taken between 2003 and 2009 found a maximum temperature of a staggering 70.7C. Needless to say, the region is uninhabited.

he Aliko Dangote Foundation in partnership with Germany’s VDMA – the German Association for Mechanical and Plant Engineering – and its Foundation for Young Talent in Mechanical Engineering (NWS) have officially launched a technical training program in Nigeria, in a bid to significantly address the skill deficit in all the key sectors of the nation’s economy. Speaking, the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote said that the landmark program is a Seven-million Euro investment, a large percentage of which is for the specialized, leading-edge equipment that has been shipped from Germany and installed in five workshops purpose-built for this program at Dangote Academy in Obajana, Kogi State. He also said the beneficiaries will be trained, using these machines, so they can learn practical skills that will be transferable as they enter the work force. This programme, according to him, is the first of its kind in Nigeria, and will be replicated in all the six geo-political zones of the country.
