Subsidy and welfare are how a government takes care of its people. Remove the fraud from subsidy and bring it back, direct subsidy through fuel cards via banks...give Dangote cheap crude up to the amount of fuel subsidised for the poor. Public revenue is not for politicians but for the masses.

Cut costs of governance, allowance for senators and president and governors are too much, stop constituency allowance payment, most are stolen, also a debt laden, low GDP country like Nigeria has no business keeping two houses of legislature, one is okay...scrap house of representatives and divert this money to the people.

Governors get high revenue share to their cronies, who buy luxury foreign goods, leading to capital flight and inflation...its better for the revenue to be in the hands of the people than being in the hands of governors in Nigeria, because in the hands of the people it circulates and mobilise the economy, but in the hands of governors they buy foreign luxury goods which leads to capital flight and inflation. Bring back subsidy, but through either tax concessions with Dangote or reduction of crude price for him, for internal fuel needs.

Nigeria is an oil dependent nation. That means that any monies for subsidy would come from oyel. And the problem is, oyel money is not enough (That is why looting and sharing money is evil from the Nigerian persepctive). It has never been enough. So, we borrow, and borrow, while pretending we are Saudi.

Many of you want the subsidy euripean countries have without paying the price...in tax and productivity. Your country is not an industrial exporter of goods and services . A sound government will create long term measures to reduce inflation for the people, build the economy, rather than using high interest rate to look for 'hot money' in international financial markets, do the long term game, reduce inflation, and interest rate, encourage real long term investment, foreign direct investment that comes to build factories, steel processing firms, international brands coming in to build factories, this is what will create employment, multiplier effects, reduce inflation, because productive activities always slows inflation. We need to be more productive and we can be more productive when interest rate is low, business men can access funds easily, banks and financial institutions can mobilise more funds from the people when they have disposal income, this happens when inflation (cost of everyday necessities) comes down, people can save more with banks and financial institutions who mobilise for business men and investments. Productivity!

Greed is what is stopping them from doing it. Government is not there for itself, the whole purpose of a government is to work for the people...nations all over the world quickly announced subsidy and concession measures when the Russia/Ukraine war broke out to cushion inflation, but Nigeria government was busy politicking, disgracing themselves on camera on their own internal elections...APC has a really bad image. This government must subsidise fuel for the people to boost the economy and informal sector which creates employment and livelihoods for 90% of Nigerians...this is the easiest way to reach all Nigerians, through fuel subsidy. Disposable income is a vital economic term, when prices of basic necessities are affordable for the common masses, they have money to spend and save, which leads to more investments and productivity, this is how an economy grows and a people prospers, not by channeling money to the centre, which they share to political party cronies and spend on foreign cars and foreign luxury goods, creating more inflation...we see this on camera, in the media in Nigeria. It's a mess.

Nigerians wake up, subsidy is not a bad word, all over the world, political leaders subsidise for the people. Subsidy or welfare or whatever you call it is what government should do.

Nigerians be wise, don't let them make you feel subsidy is bad, in Nigeria, it is the only thing the people gain from the massive free revenue we get from crude, so it makes sense that since we have crude we should get it's products cheap.

The government of Tinubu can give concession to Dangote, either through tax or other ways, so he reduces the price he sells to filling stations across Nigeria.

The national wealth is to be used to cater for the people either through subsidies or welfare, and this is important for economic growth and prosperity, because access to cheap energy/fuel will mobilise the economy, especially in a nation like Nigeria where the informal sector caters for 90% of the people and runs the economy, the small barber with his small generators, the small offices with small generators employing millions across the nation etc, cost of transportation to move food, goods etc...a wise government will make fuel cheap to sustain economic growth and prosperity.
