I'm amazed Nigerians are so ignorant of the issues around forex. It seems we just want to blame anyone we can lay our hands on when things go awry not realising the facts that they are simply business people and not responsible for the corruption in the system. There are BDCs in almost all countries of the world. How come it's in our case they become a criminal enterprise? BDCs are registered and licensed by the CBN and they have existed since the 70s.
The round-tripping that a lot of folks are wrongly blaming them for was not done by them. It was done by corrupt politicians and banks. During that period, the CBN was not even selling dollars directly to the BDCs like we have now. It was politicians and banks that were getting free dollars from CBN and selling it for a premium to the BDCs. The same politicians when it's time to launder funds still go to the BDCs to buy dollars that leave no trails. The politicians are still sitting pretty in their offices till today and even converging into a single party to better share the booty. The banks are today declaring massive profits. But it's the BDCs that some ignorant folks want to heap all their frustrations on. Same thing happened during the naira scarcity. POS were selling N10,000 for as high as 3000. People left the banks with their empty ATMs and CBN that made a mess of naira swap along with their political elites that were mopping up naira to vent on POS operators as if they are the problem. That's why we keep recycling criminals into political office and canonising them as saints.
The CBN in a bid to merge rates started selling forex to BDCs last year. Today, BDCs are complaining of shortage in supply but a lot of folks have lost track of the main body of the message and are focused on other things that shouldn't be their problem. When demand rises in the black market and the parallel rates start to diverge, you'll be at the receiving end and the CBN will either devalue the naira further or restrict access again. Then you'll be back to square one.

Mumu people were killed like chickens in Benue and plateau, Christians, none of you, none of your northern religious leaders gave a statement of condemnation...this attacks went on systematically for more than 10 consecutive continuous times, all the victims were from a particular indigenous group and were Christians.
