Just a quick advice, for those who applied to school (I mean those who has already completed their application and are awaiting for a decision before the visa ban saga), send an email to the international office of the school you are going to and explain the process to them. In this message, write that you are aware of the visa ban in your country and will want to know what the next step you are to take as you have already completed your application and submitted it. Also ask, if it is possible to defer it to SPRING 2027. DO THIS BEFORE THEY SEND YOU A MESSAGE WITHDRWALING YOUR APPLICATION.

2. Send a mail to your program graduate coordinator asking for the next step to take or if it is possible to defer to SPRING 2027. Also do this before they send you a message.

3. If a supervisor accepted you into a laboratory, explain to him the situation. Most supervisors who are expecting international students from banned countries are now summiting a petition to the graduate school to allow that applicant to be admitted, and differ for spring 2027 and if the ban is lifted before June, then glory be to God.

I just thank God 🙏 for how he has lead me so far and for my graduate coordinator. This is the best thing to do right now.


If you have not yet applied for some schools or completed your application, pause it for now, till the ban is lifted. Work more on developing yourself, gain publications, more experience and make your CV more strong because the competition for SPRING 2027 and FALL 2027 will be record breaking.


I wish everyone the best and while this is very depressing, attach yourself to people who can encourage you.

The short answer is yes -- people who go for a second masters degree get approved, but consider a few things.

You have an MPH(or MSPH) in biostats and want to do a second MPH (in which field?), probably in epidemiology, health policy/administration, health behavior/global health, or environmental science. Epi and biostats have quite a bit of overlap so much so that the department is called dept of Epi and Biostats (no separate departments) in many schools of public health. If your second MPH is in epi, be prepared to
explain cogently why you want to do a second masters in a similar field. How will this new MPH enhance your MPH in biostats and career prospects? Compared to MPH in health policy/administration, health behavior/global health, or environmental science, a degree in biostats or epi will earn you more money and more career opportunities in the long run which again will cause you explain why the need for a second MPH.

It is more common for people to change from a masters in one these to do a PhD in another. Whatever you decide to do, be sure you can convincingly explain to the consular officer why you want to do a second MPH after completing one in biostats. Good luck!

I am going for MPH. The first I had wasn’t an MPH rather MSPH. Although the school I chose doesn’t have a concentration more reason why I am drawn to it, but in the long I would love to practice more in global health/health administration. I have gone through the courses I will be taking and they are so different from what I have done in the past.

You can break the record no one have broken. No visa officer will deny your visa on the basis of another Msc . A Phd holder in History might decide to go back for Bsc in Biochemistry , so go ahead with your future.

Consular/Visa officers doesnt deny visas base on your personal life issues or decisions if it is not dangerous to others. They deny visas based on inability of applicants to prove the three (3) core requirements, viz : 1. Proof of Funds, 2. Proof of Ties , & 3. Genuine Intentions.

I just saw this. Don't know if u have gotten solution.
But the only solution I know is to try and msg them via email (NIMCCUSTOMERCARE@nimc.gov.ng) and also do the same on the Instagram(nimc_ng) page by sending the DM.
Same happened to me and it got sorted after a week of sending them several msgs. Keep bothering especially on Instagram.

I had same question as u some months ago. The answer given to me was that I should use Mrs since I am married but some ppu said with Mrs or miss we can choose either cos the title won't show on the passports, lols. The important thing is ur name and if u have a child already make sure ur maiden name is the one written on his/her birth certificate.

No. Your maiden name is as valid as your marital name. I am still using my maiden name. Make sure that on your children's birth certificate, their mother's name(that's your name) is your maiden name. You are good to go.

Pls if I may ask, when applying for your international passport , which did u choose miss or Mrs for your status. As a married woman but still using her maiden name...
