In Nigeria, life's challenges are so overwhelming that even when lemons are thrown at you, you might not notice them. Adebisi had always dreamt of being a street photographer professionally, but the country's hardships forced her to find other ways to make ends meet She is the only child of her mother, who everyone lovingly refers to as Mama Bisi. She singlehandedly raised her daughter. This was her third effort at the yearly GeegPay photography competition. Every year, amateur and professional photographers from all around the nation compete in this annual photography competition to display their skills. She had prepared thoroughly this year, studying what previous champions had done and how they had found inspiration for the perfect photo. Adebisi enjoyed assisting her mother in the famed ikorodu garage, with selling kpomo (cow hides). During weekends. When she was less busy, she generally shot pictures of different individuals, from the passengers hurrying to enter the bus to the local youngsters screaming different places the bus goes to, to the traffic officers etc. The big day had arrived, and she had captured a beautiful image of her mother smiling, which she thought was ideal... She lost the competition, which affected her particularly hard because she finished fourth, missing out on the award for the top three spots. Adebisi dream of being a photographer almost died with the loss but she persevered, she had a tough upbringing growing up without a father and she normally draws inspiration from her mom and what she had been through She opted to participate in an online street photography competition hosted by Leica 6*7 Gallery Warsaw. The competition is open and free for all street photographers worldwide, with a maximum of five images. Adebisi finished in second place, falling short behind Brazilian wildlife photographer Luis Moreal. This boosted her Instagram account from 300 subscribers to 10k in a couple of days with a $5,000 cash gift. . |

Find something positive and financially rewarding and invest your time and energy to it. Always remember that you are replaceable In your job so don't feel too special no one is indispensable. Time does not wait for no one. Celebrity Fan Addict, Arguing over who is better won't put food on your table #Dem no even send your papa That time can be spent doing something productive, read a book or learn something new instead. |
You need to invest in yourself, invest in your future use your time while you are young. You are not going to be strong both physically and mentally like you are now ever again. YOU HAVE A JOB THAT PAYS YOU JUST ENOUGH TO SURVIVE BUT EATS UP ALL YOUR TIME We all need to prepare for the future which is now. you may have a job presently but the money is not enough. What else can you devote your time to that will Give you extra source of income/knowledge or connect with people. Think about it and invest your time and energy into that. The government has weaponized poverty they know that if the youths are financially free In this country things would have changed for the better |
Hello Nairalanders, How's the economy of the country treating you all ? Its not funny right. My reason for this Post is to let you know that their is no time for you. Stop Day Dreaming of What you will achieve and start working on it now. You think you have time right ? Well we all don't have that. Check it out what is the most valuable thing in the world that we all have equally ? Til tok tik tok tik tok tik tok Time! And it fucking waits for no one If you a youth of this country you know. How hell bent the government is trying to kill our spirits You graduate from school no job, students are still on strike for months unend but you know what THEY DONT GIVE A Bleep Why you may ask well it doesn't affect them directly that's why. We all are selfish naturally its human nature |
