PoliticsGovs Insist Election Must Hold In Adamawa, Borno, Yobe by deen4real7902(op): 5:33pm On Jan 06, 2015
Governors of the North-East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe rose from an emergency expanded security meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday, insisting that elections must hold in their states next month.

There have been fears in many quarters that general elections may not hold next month in the three states that are considered to be the hotbeds of the Boko Haram sect.

Jonathan had on May 14, 2013 declared a six-month state of emergency in the three states and renewed it twice at the peak of the sect’s activities.

His attempt to further renew the emergency rule in November 2014 was rejected by the National Assembly.

At the end of the Tuesday meeting also attended by security chiefs and relevant ministers, the governor’s were of the view that if elections could be held recently in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other war-torn places, that of the North East part of the country could not be an exception.

Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam, told State House correspondents that the governor’s told the President to deploy more troops ahead of the general elections.

Geidam said the troops on ground in the affected states were not enough to handle the security situation.

The governor said, “We have come to brief the President on the security features of our various states, we have come to greet him and we told him of the challenges we have been facing.

“We are appealing  to the Federal Government to deploy more troops in addition to what we have on ground to arrest the situation in our various states.

“We need more troops, the troops that we have on ground in our various states are not enough to contain the situation, so we have appealed to the Federal Government to deploy additional troops with full equipment to tame the situation.

“Elections will hold in the states. Election will hold, that is the position of the electoral commission and definitely in all those areas where insurgency exists, elections will hold.”

Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, on his part said elections must hold in the affected states to send a strong signal to the insurgents.

He said by not holding elections in the states, the government would be seen to have given in to the antics of the sect.

The governor argued that elections could be conducted in Internally Displaced Person’s camps.

PoliticsObasanjo Bombs Jonathan Again, Says President’s Evil Actions Destroying Nigeria by deen4real7902(op): 6:40pm On Nov 26, 2014
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again torn at President Goodluck Jonathan, saying Nigerian democracy remained at risk due to the action of the present administration.
Speaking at a book Launch in honour of the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, Mustapha Akanbi‎, in Abuja, Mr. Obasanjo, who is the Chairman of the occasion, said the president should stop encouraging ‘verbal violence which may not physically hurt but has ways of degenerating into physical violence’.
Mr. Obasanjo said the greatest indictment against any administration is to be seen trying to destroy opposition of all sort‎s which invariably mean destroying democracy.
“Management of democracy without resorting to brute force and dictatorial tendencies must be cultivated,” the former President said.
“As a leader, you must not deliberately do evil or condone evil. You should know that you will one day give account to God, you may cover up here, but before God, there is no cover up.”
The former president also spoke at lenght on the President’s handling of the Boko Haram insurgency, ‎corruption, the economy and youth unemployment.
On insecurity, Mr. Obasanjo said Boko Haram is not out to “frustrate anyone’s political efforts” and lamented that it took Mr. Jonathan the years to ‎fully understand the menace.
On corruption, Mr. Obasanjo said, “when the head is rotten, the whole body is useless”
On the economy, he said Nigeria would continue to sink deeper and that what Nigerians are told about the state of the economy “is not truly what the economy is”.
“The economy is in doldrums, if not in reverse,” he said.
Mr. Obasanjo’s latest attack on the President is coming seven days after he rated Mr. Jonathan’s performance as below average.
The former president had spoken last weekend in Abeokuta while addressing book writers as part of activities marking the Ake Arts and Book Festival.
“I rate this current administration below average,” Mr. Obasanjo said in response to a question about Mr. Jonathan’s performance.
The former president also said he deserved credit for helping an individual from a minority tribe become Nigeria’s President.
“Rather than take blame for bringing Jonathan to power, I should be taking credit,” he added.
The Nigerian presidency responded Sunday, slamming Mr. Obasanjo and describing his rating as untrue and misleading.
In a statement in Abuja, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, said Mr. Obasanjo’s rating was at variance “with the facts on the ground”.
Mr. Okupe said President Jonathan had performed so well that “in terms of performance and achievements, no administration since 1960 when Nigeria gained independence from Britain, has done as much as that of President Jonathan”.

More to come…

Every Pastor Who Collects Tithes Is A Thief – Femi Aribisala

As far as many pastors are concerned, the most important scripture of all is not to be found in the word of Jesus.  Neither is it even in the New Testament.

That scripture says: “‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and try me now in this,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’” (Malachi 3:10).

This scripture is drummed repeatedly into Christians on Sundays.  However, the only time Jesus mentioned tithing in scripture, he pointed out that it was not a weighty matter of the law. (Matthew 23:23).  Hebrews says people only receive tithes “according to the law.” (Hebrews 7:5).  It then insists tithing (and everything else under the law) has been annulled: “The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless.” (Hebrews 7:18-19).  Nevertheless, mercenary pastors continue to insist on the payment of tithes.

Latter-day Pharisees

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for keeping part instead of the whole law. (Matthew 23:23). That is what tithe-collecting pastors do today.  If we insist our congregants must pay tithes, we must also insist that they keep the rest of the law.  James says: “Whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10).  Therefore, if we insist on tithing, we should also refrain from eating pork.  We should stone adulterers, execute homosexuals, kill Sabbath violators and restore blood-sacrifices.

Tithe-collecting pastors counter this by maintaining the payment of tithes pre-dated the law.  Here Abraham is cited as the cardinal example of someone who paid tithes before the promulgation of the Law of Moses, as did Jacob, his grandson.  However, such arguments are disingenuous.

Before the law, tithing was at best an example but not a commandment.  Moreover, pastors fail to mention that Abraham only tithed once in his lifetime.  When he did, he did not even tithe his own money: he tithed the spoils of war.  He gave ten percent of the plunder he took when he rescued Lot to Melchisedec, king of Salem.  But then he did not even keep the rest but returned it (all ninety percent) to the king of Sodom.

For his part, Jacob also tithed only once.  He did this in a “let’s make a deal” arrangement he offered to God: “Jacob made a vow, saying, ‘If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God.  And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will surely give a tenth to you.’” (Genesis 28:20-22).  This kind of deal about accepting God only under certain self-serving conditions should certainly not be a term of reference for any serious believer.

Lies upon lies

The first lie pastors tell Christians is what some have referred to as “the eleventh commandment:” “Thou shalt pay thy tithes to thy local church.”  But the bible says no such thing.  The storehouse of Malachi was not a church.  It was a place where food was kept.

Pastors hide from church-members the fact that money was not acceptable as tithe.  The tithe was a tenth of the seed and fruit of the land and of the animals which ate of the land. (Leviticus 27:30-32).  That is why God says: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be FOOD in my house.” (Malachi 3:10).  He does not say “that there may be MONEY in my house.”  The food was used to feed the Levites, the poor, widows, orphans and strangers.

Pastors also conveniently fail to teach the biblical tithe.  The principles of tithing were not laid down by Malachi.  They were laid down by Moses.  The study of Moses’ guidelines quickly reveals that the biblical tithe has no application whatsoever to Christians and is mischievously violated by tithe-collecting pastors today.

According to the Law of Moses, the tithe was divided into three allocations.  The first year, it was given to the Levite.  The second year, it was given to widows, orphans and the poor.  The third year, it was eaten in the company of the faithful before the Lord as thanksgiving for his faithfulness. (Deuteronomy 14:22-28).  In the seventh year, there was no planting and no reaping and therefore no tithing.

So the next time your pastor asks you to pay tithe, ask him about the seventh-year reprieve.  Also ask him if you can give your tithe to the orphanage, or bring it as food items to be eaten in church.  Believe me; he will not agree with you because it is your money he is after.

Inapplicability of tithes

Tithing was only applicable to Jews and to the land of Israel.  When large populations of Jews lived in Babylon, Ammon, Moab, Egypt, and Syria, these lands became tithe-able lands.  However, tithes were not acceptable from strictly Gentile lands.  So you need to ask your pastor how come he is collecting tithes in Nigeria.

Servants or slaves who worked on the land did not tithe because the land did not belong to them.  Since only agricultural and animal resources were included, a fisherman gave no tithe of his fisheries.  Neither did a miner or a carpenter pay tithes, nor anyone from the various professional occupations.  So if you are not a farmer or a keeper of livestock, tell your 419 pastor tithing is biblically inapplicable to you.

Moreover, the only people authorised to receive tithes were the Levites. (Hebrews 7:5).  So if your Pastor is a “tithe-collector,” ask him if he happens to be a Jew.  Remind him that, even though a Jew, Jesus could not receive the tithe because he was not from the tribe of Levi but from that of Judah.

The trick, of course, is for pastors today to claim we are “Levites.”  If your pastor is one such dissembler, ask him if he lives as a Levite.  Remind him that Levites had no land and did not have private property.  Ask him also how he knows he is from the tribe of Levi, which happens to be one of the lost tribes of Israel.  Point out to him that even Jewish rabbis don’t claim to be Levites today because all Jewish genealogical records were lost with the destruction of the Temple in AD 70, ensuring that it is no longer possible to ascertain the true identity of Levites.

Therefore, if Jews no longer tithe because the Levites are a lost tribe, how can Christian pastors collect tithes when we are not even Jewish, how much more Levites?  If Jewish rabbis, whose terms of reference remain the Old Testament no longer collect tithes, then pastors who insist Christians are under a New Testament have no business doing so.

The conclusion then is inescapable. Every pastor who collects tithes is nothing but “a thief and a robber.” (John 10:1).
Christianity EtcRe: .:: Non-tithers Are Criminals ::. by deen4real7902: 7:26pm On Jul 13, 2014
There are so many things that are “biblical” but have nothing to do with the kingdom of God.  The kingdom of God is about God and his sons.  The son of a king does not pay taxes to the king, his father.  Sons of God don’t tithe.  Tithe means giving ten per cent of your income to God.  However, everything that sons of God have belongs to God.  So tithing cannot apply to us.

The tithing currently instituted in churches is all 419.  Money is not acceptable as tithe in the scriptures.  And yet, our thieving pastors today only accept money.  Tithes were only paid by landowners in the scriptures, but our thieving pastors collect tithes from everybody.  Tithes were only collected by Levites, but thieving pastors, who are neither Jewish nor Levites, are now the ones collecting them.  Tithes were meant for the poor, the widows and strangers in the scriptures, but our thieving pastors now use them to build their empires.  They use them to build cathedrals; buy jets; establish schools and banks etc.  Those pastors who collect tithes today are nothing but thieves and robbers, according to Jesus’ categorisation of bad pastors.

Question:  But Malachi 3:10 says it should be done

Malachi 3:10 does not establish the principles of tithing.  The principles were established by Moses.  Malachi is addressed to priests; it is not addressed to the congregation.  Malachi is Old Testament.  We are now under a New Testament.  Pastors cannot insist on the one hand that we are no longer under the law, and then cherry-pick a convenient aspect of the law as being still applicable today.  If we should pay tithes today then we should also obey other aspects of the Mosaic law including stoning disobedient children and adulterers to death.  Malachi is not our Lord and Saviour.  Jesus is our Lord and Saviour.  Christians should be instructed by Jesus and not by Malachi or Moses.

PoliticsNEWS: NCC Writes Primetrack! by deen4real7902(op): 7:26am On Apr 01, 2013
The Nigerian Communications Communication, which is the government regulatory agency for telecommunications services in the country, has written to notify the management of PrimeTrack Telematics Nigeria Limited of the approval to issue them an operating license for vehicle tracking services.

This is coming on the heels of the successful vetting of PrimeTrack’s operational model by the commission, as well as assessment of their technical capability to provide the requisite standard and quality of products and vehicle tracking services to the general public. The company and its directors also had to undergo a rigorous security screening independently carried out by the Department of State Security (SSS), without which approval for the license would not have been granted.

The final issuance is subject to payment of the license fee of N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira) and commencement of full operations within one year of issuance. The license is valid for an initial period of 5 years and renewable thereafter.

One of PrimeTrack’s managers, Ms Anastasia Nwadu, had this to say about the approval: “We are ecstatic to receive this news. It has clearly shown that NCC is serious about fully regulating the industry and instilling the requisite discipline. It also proves that the license approval process works as it should. Therefore no intending vehicle tracking company has any excuse not to apply for the NCC license. The tracking industry in Nigeria is an emerging but critical market sphere, and only serious players are welcome.”

She indicated that the company will soon embark on a nationwide branch roll out exercise to bring prime telematics & vehicle tracking services to people across the length and breadth of the country. There will also be a revamp of the company’s official website: www.primetracknigeria.com
