The above is my grouse with Buhari. As a military person with oil and gas background, these are plans he should have concluded with companies even before the elections (win or loss . . . he can still chip in that bit as a patriotic Nigerian). I am not in government, but I know few companies that could set that up in 3-6 months.

If the president were pragmatic enough, knowing this refinery thing is the heartbeat of the nation, we should have had at the least, 2-4 modular refineries working in full throttle as we speak.
I agree with you, this is just a year of Buhari but what of PDP for 16 year's importing petroleum to run our economy without looking inward.

At a time Nigeria is facing severe economic crunch, a comprehensive oil report presented to the National Economic Council (NEC) has been found to be silent on a whopping N323.58 billion earned as crude oil revenue under the President Goodluck Jonathan government.

"The total remittance for the period of 2011 to June 2015 was ₦3,494,675,032,256.
But PREMIUM TIMES’ analyses of the figures revealed that for 2012 and 2013, the sums of ₦143,069,400,000 and ₦80,999,973,000 were not captured in the report either as amounts paid into FAAC or withheld by NNPC.

This mystery continued in 2014 and 2015 as ₦85,601,900,000 and ₦13,908,374,982 were also unreported either as amount paid into FAAC or withheld by NNPC".

David Mark, please tell Nigeria why PDP is importing petroleum products instead of building a refinery to refine locally to stop importation for 16 year's.

Can you build a country by importing essential commodities like petroleum products when we have crude to refine locally.

PDP ! People Destruction Party.

All this under 1 year or the failure of our past leader, you can't have all this under one year.

A man who failed to plan for the future find himself in our situation. If we failed to diversify all this year's is it under 1 year when there's no resources that is going to be easy.

Our so called leaders are importing fuel to run our economy for years something we can refine locally with our own crude if we have build a refinery another opportunity for our youth to be employ. Today we will not be looking for dollar to import petroleum, our little dollar will be for other essential commodities.

To all those who expect change in just about a year of this new government, what you want is magic, not change.

Every good thing takes time. And if you cannot be patient enough, you have the option of taking up another nationality.
My problem with PDP is why importing petroleum for 16 years without refining locally wasting our forex all this year's.

Why not build two or three refinery from the Oil boom to stop importation of petroleum to save us from this mess.

If you cannot manage the good times how can you manage the bad time. This is our bad time every nation that produce crude oil is removing subsidies, no more free dollar from crude Oil.

$35x2,000,000= $70 million

2. Follow the 350bn capital spending bumper to bumper so we don't end up subsidising corruption in another guise.

3. Fight RMAFC & Wages commission to a standstill so there is income parity among go establishments.

4. Enforce due process in recruitment young graduates without connection won't all be relegated to recharge card sales or fish pond or poultry farming because the elites have taken all the posts with "juice" & left the chaffs..

And I start. sometime ago the sanusi leadership of CBN stop banks from paying dollars to citizens. this is what I called a monopolise foreign currency economy. even when money was sent to Nigeria in dollars the bank would simply pay the recipient in the imposed naira equivalent by the CBN. this was the beginning of the era when dollars became scarce in the Nigeria market.

small private owned bureau de change were the biggest hit by this CBN policy. poor bureau de change who relied so much on dollars from common Nigerian citizens packed out of business. those who use to buy dollars from citizens who received foreign remittance had to find alternate sources for dollars and this mark the beginning when dollars rise upward in the black market.

The official price on the dollar is a scam and of what use? since the citizens cannot obtain it officially from bank or neither the CBN except they go through the black market.

This is not only a cheat to the masses by the CBN but also causes inflation. A monopoly currency trade is a fraudulent activities where only the elite and those opportune to determine the price in black market.

I received a foreign remittance and I need to pay tithe in the said foreign currency. What happened? The bank refuse to pay me with the foreign currency rather they pay me in local currency equivalent impose by the CBN. and I had to go to black market to buy back the same foreign currency in exorbitant price. The bank and CBN sells my foreign currency to the bureau de change they make a lot if proceed from this scam..

Thanks to Nigerians who stays and work in abroad, as they said there is no country in the world where you can't find Nigerians. Rate this with our traveling spirit.

These people contributed very well enough to our foreign exchange. If you go to all the bank right now, you will be amazed with the numbers of queue from people who want to receive foreign remittance. This happens on daily basis.

foreign remittance from friends and family and including yahoo boys account of 40% of our foreign currency in circulation. in 2015 the World bank and CIA spy on foreign remittances index shows Nigeria is the number 1 of highest remittance
Received.

The so-called oil proceeds every year is been loted and taken back to foreign countries by our politicians.

many people thought that the peg on our naira to dollars is for the interest of the public, but that its not true. If the CBN allows bank to pay citizens in dollars. The market force will determine the price on the black market.

As I was Told. The CBN Chiefs has a bureau de change outlet. the policy makers (referees) also plays the midfield, more like they award contract to themselves. They simply collect peoples dollars at N199 they impose and sold it back to the people at N320.

I also read it somewhere that our President wife is now operating a bureau de change. Wake up Nigeria how long will you continued to be fooled.

As this policy remeans there will be no change but rather it will get worst and expect more inflation. Not until this policy is reversed and let bank start paying people in dollars for foreign remittance. There well be enough dollars to go round and this will stabilize the forex market.

By Joel3. Nairaland.
Not on point, until we produce fuel locally dollar scarcity will continue. Simple arithmetic!

When crude is $140 x 2 million barrels =$280 million per day.

When crude is $26/$35 x 1.7 million barrels =$60 million per day.

How can you finance importation of fuel an essential commodities from this compare to Jonathan government when Crude is $100/140.

I saw this coming when ever I bid for forex at CBN, Oil importers always take 30/40% of our weekly forex sales follow by some industry like Dangote and co.

If you have $200,000 and 40% = $80 million now with the crash of crude oil prices where do we source for dollar.

We have to stop importing fuel.

First of all, what success did Buhari administration have before NDA started. What is so difficult in calling a real national conference devoid of politics where we will all seat down and talk about this country? For how long are we going to keep enduring from one problem to another? yestersday, it was NDVF, MOSSOP, MASSOB etc, today it is NDA, what is it going to be tomorrow?

Why can't we seat down and agree we want to be together as a nation and work out a constitution where all components of these country will agree to? If we can't be together, when can't we disintegrate? How many people are in Luxembourg? are they not one of the richest people in the world living happily? Is it better to have a big giant good for nothing country where citizens queue up at European and American embassy as early as 4am to beg for visa than having a small prosperous country?

If the UK that created this country, a world power, permanent member of the UN security council, Nuclear armed nation can even brace up for the idea of a total break up despite Scotland being autonomous, why must it be difficult for Nigeria to break if it is what it takes to have peace?

I am not advocating for a break up but anybody who loves Nigeria should push for a structural reformation of this country. This country is long overdue for people to renegotiate her existence instead of spilling too much blood. if every region has to be autonomous or a total breakup, then no problem. But does an African and her leaders have the capacity to solve any problem?
Our problem is not break-up, we lack good leadership. Every tribe is been marginalized, employment is in every tribes. If we can develop other sectors of our economy we are going to be great. Saudi is not better than China or Germany, we lack good leadership to move Nigeria forward. Abeokuta steel is there, we have land for agriculture and many other mineral resources.

No one makes up the economy. Nigeria economy is made up of all the sectors in its system, of which oil and gas is just a sector. Unfortunately over concentration on this sector which I see is as a result of the laziness of our government.
What makes Nigeria permeates on the diverse nature of the country, in terms of culture, religion, language and social strata.
Economically you might say what makes up Nigeria is the Niger Delta oil. But prior to the Oil boom witnessed in the 70s the Nigeria economy was run on agricultural exports, mainly cocoa. Every part of the nation benefited from the funds gotten from it without a particular region holding the nation to ransom ECONOMICALLY. of course we all know where cocoa is mainly from.
Even the three R program carried out by gowon after the civil war was funded from agricultural income. This program we know was to rebuild the East.

And where is the imbalance of distribution of wealth, whose fault is that? The Niger Delta has a ministry, get 13% derivation income from oil sold. The people you should hold responsible if there's any form of imbalance is your state and local leaders.
While the Hausas are stoning and burning the house of their corrupt leaders. We in the south are hailing them and helping them run away.
When other states are collecting 2 billion ND state are collecting 9/10/12 billion allocation with noting to show, they still blame the government instead of their governor who is from them.
NDDC is another ministry just to please them.
