Presently watching. I don't know why we don't ever have male teams doing good on the world stage. Sad Also, I am not seeing Okagbare in the line ups. Sad too The girls are doing a great job though. Margaret Bamgbose was phenomenal in the heats. Fingers crossed. Hopefully the girls can make some money. |
omar22:It's the relays. Drop of baton is part of the race... so that is never an excuse. USA was also not the only one that dropped the baton. And Nigeria was not the only other team on the track... why didn't other teams WIN? Jamaica was there. Why didn't they also take d advantage.? OUR girls did well, they deserve commendation |
cerzo:Yes. They won GOLD. |
CFCfan:Yes Okagbare started off to a flying start and obviously covered enough ground on the Bahamas team before passing to Regina George. See the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnqKFh3qrzs |
omokoladele:Really? ...As I kolobi ur sister *kindly complete the song yourself* |
MaziOmenuko: Seems this English girl don beat the Nigerian to first position!!! 6.56mMake blessing just join dem now and take one jump... she go win straight!!! |
Belovedd: Thankyou! plus Blessing practically strolled to d finish line once she noticed how wide d gap between her and d 2nd position was. Maybe she wanted to conserve her energy.Ofkos. She needs to conserve d energy and kill d final... even the gap in the final will be very wide!!! :d |
adaobi123: What has Maurice Greene got to do with Nigerian Athletics ?He is our relay coach. ![]() |
MaziOmenuko: Mehn! This Jodle williams is threat for the 200m at 23.42.Wot?? 234 threat ? I laff in hausa! Adaobi dear, please tell this my friend that 23.42 will carry last-test in all d high profile races that okagbare has won in her life! ![]() |
CFCfan: I watched the Women's 4x100 IAAF Relay Championship, and the Jamaicans had some problems handing over their batons smoothly.I am hoping for a baton error from them. they certainly have a better team; VCB, SAFP, Kerron Stewart and 'Anybody' .. Thats a world class team anywhere in any field in any championship. ![]() But i am #TeamNigeria all the way. P.S: I hope Maurice Greene doesnt allow blessing run the second leg like the world relays ... i think duncan will do okay there! |
daveP: lmao, african usain bolt!! I know she can jog,but let her take advantage of it once its the semifinals to start record-breaking.thats what matters now.she should target a sub-20secs. Or sub 21sec! Ride on Bless!Lol sub 20 or 21 ke? Cool down bro. The only active ladies that have sub 22 are Felix and Campbell-brown! But I hope Okagbare can break the African record of 22.07s set by Mary Onyali. |
Afam4eva: I wish we still had Uchenna Emedolu and Olusoji Fasugba because i'm positive that they would have posed some challenge. The men we have now are falling hand seriously.Ahhh Fasuba was very good. I think he once posted 9.86s! If we are to get to that level... we need serious investments! Grassroots athletics needs to be developed and there should be a programme. I was watching world junior champs in usa... and I saw some kids that participated in the world youth champs last year... dts continuity. I hope Nigeria is thinking in that direction. |
I just saw the startlist for blessing okagbare in heat 1 of the 200m... that startlist is so laughable. She will jog from start to finish ![]() Infact. She will also jog in the finals. No athlete has a PB even close to her season's best! I can't wait for the finals... she ll dwarf the field. |
Afam4eva: When he started, i thought he had prospects cos he breezed past his competitors at the heats om the olympic games. I don't know what happened to him.Yeah. I rememba then... he was tagged "the next uchennns emedolu" ... ![]() |
CFCfan: Ogunlewe and Obinna Metu have both crashed out of the 200m. Ogunlewe's time was 21.11s, while Metu ran 21.79sWow. 21.79 for a guy? Even allyson Felix has a PB of 21.64s!!! God help our Naija guys oo |
adaobi123: OkayyWhn will Adaobi join the league of brits running for Naija ![]() |
I don't know if it's just me but I am yet to see the point in recruiting all these 'Americans' to compete for Nigeria. They have had no overwhelming impact on our athletics at all. Infact, they are performing at the standard that the old set of home-based athletes were. Blessing who is our biggest star today was not recruited. Her talent was discovered here and refined in the USA... I strongly believe that if we need someone or some people to join her standards, we will need to also sponsor some young Nigerian talents to do better for the future... I don't know if anyone else shares my 'sentiments'... |
Congrats to Blessing Okagbare. That is certainly her most confident race ever.... considering the calibre of athletes she ran against. I am surprised 'we' are rooting for her to do the LJ. We all saw what happened at the Moscow WC; jumping makes her legs weak. Anywaiz. She has 100m GOLD, I am so excited. Thank God. Can't wait for the 200m and relays. Gov. Uduaghan is a very funny man. His excitement after that race was awesome. Our govt should support these athletes more; I don't mean only Blessing o. Wonderful games so far. |
Trust Nigerians to turn Tribal all of a sudden!!! #Personally |
ifyalways: Lies.Yeah they were. how many of them did u see up and about or happy ![]() Evenn paul was missing from most of the pics ... most people thought he was not there sef! Its obvious he just attended to be there ... he was basically MIA. |
Lets leave sentiments and the popularity of their music. since we are talking stage performance ... i ll give it any day any time to OMAWUNMI. She comes with her own live band ... and the strength of that voice ehnnnnn ... it sends shivers down my spine! Its obvious she sings not all these people being mentioned that lip sing while the track is playing. Psquare is good too ... just because of their dance moves shikena. they lip sing too. *Haba, Habatically* |
in other news ... France has been disqualified in the womens 4*100m relay ... this means that USA has been promoted to silver ... and GBR in third |
adaobi123: GB DISQUALIFIEDI was just about to say that ... how come you did not see this miss adaobi ![]() |
adaobi123: Gatlin went out of his laneoh Shet. rily ... noooooooooo |
Russia tops the champs table by number of golds USA wins by total number of medals ... nigeria in number 18 ... on standings ![]() |
six gold medals for jamaica ... three involving SAFP ... three involving BOLT very interesting .... |
and bolt wins .... Jamaica 37.36 USA GB adaobi show urself and dance round nairaland nak** |
team GB even included Adam gemili ... I feel sad for USA right now ... ... Jamaica is obviously the new sprint power house... |
its almost bolt time .... again I am sure USA has d same team from heats ... another unusual case ... can USA just start grooming New athletes for Gods sake ... their male team is the worst ... the closest to gatlin right now is nobody ![]() |
that was the most depleted USA women's 4*100m relay team ... the first time USA will have the same team for heats and finals ... I miss Allyson Felix and carmelita Jeter ... that second leg would av bin Felix .. she would be fast enuf to meet up with Gardner and she would not need to stop ... Gardner of life wud run her lifebto give Jeter ... and am sure u all know the rest ... there is world relays next year ... I can't wait for the Penn relays also ... world indoor champs ... no WC or olympics but I know it will be an interesting year for athletics ... |
