Science/TechnologyRe: Man Fights Crocodile With Bare Hands To Save Son [PHOTO] by deleuche(m): 7:29am On Dec 29, 2013
Okija_juju: 10 to 15 seconds with a python? I think not.

First of all, pythons very rarely attack humans and even when they do, it's hard for them to actually overpower an adult except the adult is drunk, ill, disabled or weakened by something else.

Don't forget that people keep pythons as pets..

Plus python venom is poisonously harmless to humans.

But for crocs, it's a different story as their first bite almost always chops off whatever part of the body they grab.
Not quite true. I have seen stories on TV where pythons attack and kill their trainers.

Mr Troll: Evolution.
Please explain further. Even if we did evolve, our kind will all be from the same kind of ancestors and made from the same kind of substances, chemicals, brain matters etc

so why the differences in views?
Christianity EtcRe: The Evolution Of Morality by deleuche(m): 1:11pm On Nov 29, 2013
So far, I have made certain opinions from the different views I have read on the topic on this thread.

I will however be happy if anyone can throw more light on why we have subjective morality, since I believe we are all made from the same substances and..... from one source?

Joshthefirst: I think you ignored a question like this I asked you earlier before:

Can you give me examples of absolute laws that are not universaly accepted and self evident?
I think child marriage will qualify as one
Christianity EtcRe: The Evolution Of Morality by deleuche(m): 5:01pm On Nov 27, 2013
Uyi Iredia: The starkly nonsensical conclusion is maintaining that absolute morality eternally exists in human perceptions and are the basis of positive and natural law; ignoring the fact that, the very fact of dispute over such laws (and absolute morals by extension), nullifies the said conclusion. 'Absolute' suggests that the morality, though expressed differently, is universally accepted and SELF-EVIDENT. I note you TOTALLY ignored my request to bring examples of natural laws for analysis: you diatribe my stance stating agreement 'is neither here nor there' when the very process of legislation, its interpretation by the judiciary, and its enforcement by the executive involves agreement at every level, whereitbe tacit or explicit . . . do you perchance tell your judge in court the legal process 'is neither here nor there'. You assert that the subjugation of a minority is wrong and think I'm ignorant of this so-called-by-Deep Sight 'anarchaic postulation'.

You state . . .

please could you justify your claim here in light of my earlier statement below . . .

. . . keeping in mind how you disgraced the spirit of enquiry with your response to that point as evidenced below . . .

I love your reasoning and thought process. quite clear, easy to understand and very logical.
Christianity EtcRe: The Evolution Of Morality by deleuche(m): 12:18am On Nov 26, 2013
imagine how far science and humanity would have advanced if scientists were not censored for suggesting that the earth is round and not flat or that the earth revolves round the sun and not vice versa.

Lobsang Rampa, a renowned Buddhist and author, opined that great scientific discoveries were lost to mankind as a result of these early interferences of religion, and I agree with him especially with his suggestion that science veered off from it pure form as it neglected its spiritual (metaphysical( aspects as a result dealing with only "morally acceptable" researches at the time

texanomaly: Paint me a mental picture of this utopia of human logic and reasoning. Please?
It starts with man realising that our destinies are tied together, we are gradually getting to that realisation, if not for setbacks of religion, selfish interests and outright stupidity by some people.

The human mind is a great machine, we all know and agree to that, I liken it to a computer though the reverse is more accurate. Computers operating in a network usually get better results.

Now picture a world where people agree to go after the common goal only, like lions in a pride do.

Remove religion from our equation and you would have solved more than half our wars and problems.
Christianity EtcRe: The Evolution Of Morality by deleuche(m): 7:09pm On Nov 25, 2013
texanomaly: Yeah how interesting the world would be if it was filled with Spock's and Sheldon's. SMH
D world would actually be less stressful if we removed every religion and based everything on human logic and reasoning. This doesn't mean that I don't believe in God, but I think a lot of people misunderstand the concept totally hence the mess we are in today
Christianity EtcRe: The Evolution Of Morality by deleuche(m): 3:58pm On Nov 25, 2013
Gr8 thread. I read from beginning to this point and I think the main reason why non of the parties involved can win this argument on morality is because of their belief systems and inherent mindsets.

How interesting this would be if we can remove these factors and reason only logically.
InvestmentRe: Why You Should Not Take "Your Passion" Into Business... by deleuche(m): 9:04am On Nov 25, 2013
Well, the general idea is that if you are passionate enough about what you do, it doesn't really matter whether or not you are making enough money out of it.

The passion will keep you going and make you find better ways of doing it until you become the best at it.

The business angle to this is that if you become the best in whatever you do you will certainly get patronage no matter the situation of the economy.

PropertiesRe: Fake Building Parts Responsibile For Building Collapse by deleuche(m): 11:41am On Nov 21, 2013
Given that a lot of charlatans present themselves as professionals today, the onus is on the prospective house owner to do his home work and get properly qualified people to handle their building projects.

I like to emphasize that all the building professionals are relevant for the success of a building project. That is the way the "white men" who handed down this technology of construction intended it to be.
PropertiesRe: Fake Building Parts Responsibile For Building Collapse by deleuche(m): 11:27am On Nov 21, 2013
jassie: Fake building materials? What are these materials?

To the best of my knowledge, only 4 materials are structurally essential to any building and those are:
1. Cement- Produced in Nigeria; Dangote, Elephant etc.
2. Granite: Natural resource. Always available in Nigeria.
3. Sand: Another natural resource, always available in fine quality.
4. Iron (Steel) rods: Produced in Nigeria as well. . .

So make them park well before talking about fake products. They can tell that to those who haven't built houses.

The simple truth is that the so called 'developers' are the ones responsible for poorly built houses. They economize what and when they shouldn't.
My exact thoughts. We have many penny wise and pound foolish people in Nigeria. I have read here on NL where people are advised against using building engineers for construction of their buildings. Worse still a lot of people, even educated ones, go about constructing their buildings without consulting the relevant professionals, how do we expect error free buildings.

manifest1: At all is anything wrong in placing ones water tank say on top of a kitchen decking in a bungalow?
I don't think there is any problem with that as long as the decking is properly designed to carry the weight of the tank with water and also ensure that it's treated for water leakage and adequate drainage is provided.

Aventures: 1. Damp roof admixture (sycallyte) being added to the capping concrete mix.
2. Capping concrete in place to prevent dampness, used to perfect our floor level yet to come and to be used as reference point for measuring out our lintel level and other measuremnts
3.View of the capped area.
4. More view of the capped Area
interesting, I like the use of water proof cement for dpc. but I still have my fears for water tightness of the foundation ie if there is no dpm or water proofing of the floor slab areas.

Also ensure that there is a continuity between the dpc and dpm.

I just had a thought that if one can come out with a device like what you're trying to do that will make it easier to track d more popular satellites. there will be a huge market for it. as it will make it easier for people to track their favorite stations using one dish. Good job. if you get it right I Will be your first customer
