this is the first time am learning that someone's brain could be on auto pilot. Thank God for the FIFA world cup. Hahahhaahaha |
Brazilian superstar Neymar's brain activity while dancing past opponents is less than 10 percent the level of amateur players, suggesting he plays as if on auto-pilot, according to Japanese neurologists. Results of brain scans conducted on Neymar in February this year indicated minimal cerebral function when he rotated his ankle and point to the Barcelona striker's wizardry being uncannily natural. "From MRI images we discovered Neymar's brain activity to be less than 10 percent of an amateur player," researcher Eiichi Naito told AFP on Friday. "It is possible genetics is a factor, aided by the type of training he does. " The findings were published in the Swiss journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience following a series of motor skills tests carried out on the 22-year-old Neymar and several other athletes in Barcelona in February this year. Three Spanish second-division footballers and two top-level swimmers were also subjected to the same tests, added Naito of Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology. Naito concluded in his paper that the test results "provide valuable evidence that the football brain of Neymar recruits very limited neural resources in the motor-cortical foot regions during foot movements". Asked whether Neymar's Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi or Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo might display similar test results, Naito said: "It is fair to assume they would show similar levels given their footwork and technique." Naito told Japan's Mainichi Shimbun newspaper: "Reduced brain activity means less burden which allows (the player) to perform many complex movements at once. We believe this gives him the ability to execute his various shimmies." Neymar carried the hopes of host nation Brazil on his shoulders at the recently ended World Cup but his involvement ended in tears as he fractured a vertebra in the 2-1 quarterfinal victory over Colombia. Without their talisman, who had scored four goals in the tournament, Brazil suffered their most humiliating defeat ever when they were pulverised 7-1 by eventual champions Germany in the semifinal. mobi.supersport.com/football/spain/news/140725/Neymars_brain_on_autopilot |
hareerat11218: Let the Lawmakers in Nasarawa state try to go ahead with the impeachment saga. Then i swear to God, that is when Nigerian revolution will start and we the people of Nasarawa state will be the first people to start killing our politicians and we will start from the Lawmakershmmm that is you careless whether Al Makura has a case to answer or not? Do not forget that violence only begets violence. |
jericco1: By giving each Lawmaker a bag of moneyplease you can still tell the house how much |
disloman: Mi no believe this story oooo.Till dem stop impeachment. No b say later,e. Go talk say him(GEJ) tried his best but d house don made up their minds oooo.No b naija politics.Taaaaa.lolxxxxx typical Nigerian |
melifew213: Al Makura must go. Gej pls don't intervenefor you to sound like this, am thinking you are from Nassarawa state and only who is wearing the shoe knows exactly how much it is paining him. But the least youcan do is give GEJ reasons no to intervene. |
san316: Based on the report, there are no indications that he went to save Ta'al. If eventually he went 4 dat reason, then Ta'al must hv made a deal with him (either cm to PDP or deliver ur state to me in 2015 or be a pdp mole in APC). Stinking politricking in Nigeria.lolxxxxx I think the President is not so foolish to make a deal with any opposition APC gov this time around as 2015 will be different from 2011 that ACN did to all vote for the president and clinch the gov in return. |
NIGERIALOLoCOM: Will this move by our presido go down well with Labaran Maku?are you now saying that Maku is the architect of the impeachment? |
kokoA: If the guy has committed an impeachable offence then he should go naw.. These politicians don't have the interest of the people at heart at all.. Smh.. So if you are Mr. President's friend then you are free from punishment, no matter what wrong you do? GEJ should know that presidential elections do not depend on the number of governors in support of you nor the number of states your party controls but on the popularity of the contestants.. A new party like the defunct CPC who controlled no state as at 2011 was able to pull over 12million votes during the last presidential election.. Impeachment or no impeachment of opposition governors is irrelevant to how people will vote.. It Al'makura is found guilty, he should be kicked out!reasonable analysis from an unbiased mind |
emmyrichie: That guy 'Mr. President' might be wrong on this move.if only he would give us any reason at all, it is going to be "national interest." lolxxxx |
emmyrichie:very strong adjective you used there mahn! |
dragan: He's not really that much of an experienced Politician, he's just a wealthy businessman that decided to try and save the State from the crap it went through with two PDP governors and as far as i know he's done well with the small budget and the debt on the state. This whole thing is because of that Nigerian Mentality of some tribes in the state believing its their turn to rule, and he kind of recklessly promised to serve for 1 term.hmm what a take! |
Sec5: I don't think d President is right to stop a Democratic process if d gov has committed impeachable offence unless if d impeachment plan is a witch hunt.I agree that no president has the right to truncate any democratic process, but what if he studies the mood of the nation and finds a way to douse the tensions here and there? Especially id he can reach out. I do not see any thing wrong in that aspect. |
danot1030: Dat is leadership in display. A true leader don't watch his house scatter on the bases of affinity cos he sees himself as a leader to both on his side and those not. He is not the type that want one to be destroy for him to gain, a leader's gain is premise on credibility. Kudos to GEJ, I give u this one.why am giving you a thumbs -up? Are you in any leadership position presently? Cause as a leader myself, I know the import of your statement. |
egift: Jonathan, stage-managing trouble in Nigeria since 1st October, 2010.really |
seanet02: The mofo is going back to PDP.please who is the mofo and what does it mean |
President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday met behind closed-doors with six members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-moves-to-save-al-makura-meets-nasarawa-lawmakers/ |
@Op what do you mean north razing Nigeria down? Next use the statement " ...the north-west or parts of the north would have been thrown into chaos." Nigeria is far bigger than one man or what some call "demi-god." |
chison89: Ahahahahacorrect that is the way it should be. |
President Goodluck Jonathan has spoken to Gen. Buhari on the phone over the bomb attack that nearly clamed his life TheCable.ng understands. This telephone conversation came a day after Jonathan and Buhari's camp had exchanged hot words over the impeachment proceedings against some opposition governors. TheCable.ng learnt that the president put a call through to Buhari on wedneaday evening to express his sympathy with the former head of state. Details of the conversation are still schetchy, but TheCable was informed that Jonathan promised a thorough investigation into the incident. The conversation was said to be "warm, cordial and sincere" by a source in the know. Source www.thecable.ng www.thecable.ng/exclusive-jonathan-calls-buhari-over-blast |

noblezone: My brother, I thought of going over there, use camera to do a video coverage of the entire rail while of foot!thank you my for your understanding why One could not go into a snapping spree for fear of the unknown. |
jobless ke! Who sent that liar to come up here and tell gullible Nairalanders and Nigerians fat lies. Please rephrase your comment to fit the appropriate person. No sense! |
I liked Gov Amaechi for his monumental achievements during his first term. However, there is now a lull in performance and a total opposite in his second term in Rivers state today. But the biggest lie and propaganda today is the mono rail progect in the city of Port Harcourt close to government house. I live outside Port Harcourt in Omagwa Town, some few KM off PH buh always having one thing or the other to do in Port Harcourt. Ever since the news of the test-run of the much awaited mono rail went viral in the social media yesterday, I had to relocate to Port Harcourt to see things for myself firsthand. From Omagwa yesterday morning around 9:00AM, I came to stay with a cousin in Station road almost directly opposite the mono rail project. From 10:00AM I started asking questions and and visiting the project area waiting to see this rail move but to no avail. All I saw was a head( not two or three oh as we saw on nairaland yesterday) couch with no engine just hanging on the free rail line immobile till around 2:00PM. Took an hour break and came back around 3:00PM and left by past six thinking maybe they will run it later in the evening buh was disappointed still. Came as early as 6:00AM today to the site where this rail is hanging, as in fact am there now to further confirm to you guys that there is not even a sound of testing from any engine of any mono rail in PH. I was was told that that rail has been hanging like that for the past three days without changing coordinates. In conclusion, this is the biggest lie and propaganda in PH recently as the guy who posted that HYPE yesterday did a great disservice to Rivers people by assaulting our intelligence and abused the previlege offered him by Nairaland. |
Scientists say they have made an "exciting" step towards curing HIV by forcing the virus out of hiding. HIV can become part of someone's DNA and lie dormant for decades, making a cure impossible. Early stage research in six people, reported at the Aids 2014 conference, shows that low-dose chemotherapy can awaken the virus. Experts said it was a promising start, but it was unlikely the drug would work on its own to cure HIV. Anti-viral drugs can drive HIV down to undetectable levels in the bloodstream, meaning people who are HIV-positive can have a near-normal life expectancy. But there is problem. HIV can incorporate its DNA into our own, where it lies beyond the reach of drugs and the immune system - it is known as the HIV reservoir. When drug treatment stops, the virus can leap out of the reservoir and renew its assault. International research is aimed at flushing the virus out of its reservoirs. A team at Aarhaus University in Demark tried using a chemotherapy drug, romidepsin, which is used in lymphoma. Six HIV patients with undetectable levels of the virus were enrolled into trial. They each received a reduced dose of romidepsin once a week for three weeks. There was a noticeable jump in viral levels in the blood in five of the patients. One of the scientists involved, Dr Ole Sogaard, told the BBC: "Every step forward is always exciting, and I think this is quite important." He said there had been a lot of scepticism about the drug being potent enough. "We've shown it is possible to kick the virus out of the cells, the next step is to actually kill the cells. "The trial now moves into a new phase which combines the romidepsin with something to enhance the immune system and in our case this is an HIV vaccine. " Side-effects were those normally associated with chemotherapy, including fatigue. Difficult challenges HIV viruses emerging from a hijacked cell There are still many challenges ahead. The team cannot say what proportion of cells hiding HIV are being activated by romidepsin. Another looming question is which reservoirs are being successfully targeted. HIV can hide in immune cells in the blood, but there are bigger reservoirs in the gut and central nervous systems and it is not clear whether they are activated by the blood-based chemotherapy. "We know it's a step forwards, but we don't know how big, it might just be a single step or it could be a great leap forward," Dr Sogaard added. Romidepsin works by "relaxing" tight coiled up bundles of DNA. This exposes the hidden HIV genetic code and leads to the production of new viruses. Dr Andrew Freedman, a reader in infectious diseases at Cardiff University, told the BBC: "As a proof of concept it does look promising. "The search for a cure is very much on, it's not going to be easy and it's unlikely a single drug like this would be sufficient. "There's a lot of doubt it would be enough to deplete the reservoir completely. "Most people think a single approach will not be enough, a drug like this perhaps needs to be combined with vaccines or even gene-therapy." ??......bbc.com |
Firstly, adamawa people did not elect their ex-governor Nyako under the APC platform rather they freely gave their mandate to the PDP. And when he left for the APC he never bothered to consult the people that voted him and before you would say jack bauer he has taken their popular will to another platform for whatever reasons he may have had. Not that I support impeachment as a tool for our politicians to wield like the Harry Potter's wand at the opposition but when it is done to correct an anomaly then I support it. What the PDP lawmakers only did was to take back what rightfully belonged to it as they only did the needful on NYAKO and reclaimed their mandate so that Nyako can go now and contest freely on the platform of the APC and SEE IF HE WILL WIN adamawa state back for APC. |
