Even if the economy nose dives your senators,governors,agencies, corporate organizations,police force,army,navy etc would still buy new cars,anyway that aside.

Majority of the new cars are not purchased by individuals but rather govt and corporate bodies.

The Ford edge was badly hit by other auto new entrants into the market e.g Nissan Qashai,Jac,Gac, and old rivals like the Rav4,Crv,Santa fe.

Organizations who place premium on reliability re avoiding the Ford edge due to their previous experience ,it takes only an automotive enthusiast or one who wants to stand out from the crowd that would pick a Ford edge when presented with other options.

Would the Ford edge get the job done by moving you from Point A to B,Definitely YES.

However,the new generation of Ford Edge is exciting.

Ford Edge is a great SUV. Folks just need to do more research before buying a car. I have a rule of not buying a car model made in the first year or first year of redesign. They tend to have a lot of issues (and this isnt exclusive to the edge) which are usually fine-tuned and corrected in subsequent years. Eg the Ford edge worst year is 07/08. Do your findings online and you will find this to be true. The best year based on customer perception and reports/reviews is 09, even with better ratings than the 2018. Hence when it was time to buy i knew i would be fleeing from any 08 no matter how good the deal was. The 2011 redesign also had issues eg door ajar lights coming on, causing the cabin lights not to go off, it got better in 2013/ 2014 models. Honda evil spirit first debut too was horrible. All these info are online. With a little research, you can prevent yourself from getting the short end of the stick. Doesnt mean the brand isnt good. 09/10 Ford edge rocks!

Go for edge first or second generation.
REASON: The cost of spare parts are dropping rapidly because the said Ford are numerously flooding the country right now, For instance, the cost of complete transmission assembly varies between 80k and 100k depending on negotiating power. Also both 1st(2007 - 2010) and 2nd(2011 - 2014) generations use same transmission.

The fuel consumption is now considerable low, because, Ford has incorpoted in their engine manufacturing the electronic variable timing to enhance the best fuel and air induction

l don't agree with you in your second paragraph.
edge has a good body structure, potable at the exterior and roomy at the interior. The finishing of the interior deco is excellent. The exterior is curve fascinating with best aerodynamics calculation, it's a great building achitecturer's work., So I want you to have a second look at it.

Though, I might not be able to handle this topic of body to your satisfaction, because am not a marketing personal but only good at Ford technology (mechanical, electrical and electronics) . There are bosses and Ford owners in our WhatsApp group that can handle this area far better than I.

i love the way you described the Ford Edge. I usu itch when i hear some folks say that they prefer the body of 04-09 rx330 to a ford edge. Like for me, there is no contest, the ford edge is way finer in and out, and the space OMG. I have used an rx330, so i know the diff. The only rx i would pick over a ford egde is the 2010 redesign, and of course these recent designs from '17 to date. Kindly, add me to the whatsapp group
