Inioluwa1:
Good day everyone, LONG POST ALERT (But believe me when I say it is supposed to be longer)
I have been a silent and longsuffering reader of this thread, actively reading since like Part 14 or 15.
On Tuesday the 9th of February 2021, I got the much-awaited PPR!
This is my gist:
December 2019, I reignited my dream to go to Canada. I genuinely wanted a career change from Law to HR. I finished with a 2:2 (Second Class Lower) in both Law and my first degree in English (I’m a young old man – 27 going to 28), and a 2:1 (Second Class Upper) from Law School. It was good enough to get me a decent job in Nigeria but the reality is stark and rather disappointing (Nigerian Lawyers dey suffer… but that is gist for another day).
With deep research, I chose to make the career switch, starting with paid online course which bagged me a diploma in Human Resources. I took this with hopes of one day becoming a specialist with my background in Labor Laws and Employment Legislation, by God’s grace. It was a big and tall dream. My target job and related field was and is increasingly always in Top 3 in-demand and top paid jobs in Canada. But we all know man proposes and God blesses as He wills.
I initially started off with interest in Express Entry under the FSW, but the impediment was my years of foreign work experience - less than a year. I wrote my IELTS and passed with 8.0. Overall Band Score, did my evaluation with WES (getting a transcript from Nigerian institutions is a task I wouldn’t wish on my enemy) but the CRS score was still too low. The only way to boost is was to effectively be fraudulent and risk a five-year ban. No, that was too much of a risk. I was advised by an acquaintance to try study route. How? I had no knowledge of it and I didn’t graduate with 2:1 that I could try Masters. I did my research and applied to two schools for a Business Diploma in Human Resources (I was adamant I wanted Saskatchewan for “personal” reasons.) and got admission offer into Great Plains College, Swift Current. This was EIGHT months after I started my Canada plans. I dumped EE for study with age not really being on my side as I intended to use my mother as the sole sponsor (Salary was nothing to write home about) for an ordinary diploma… me, a graduate with two university degrees, NYSC, and a qualified Lawyer. The odds were heavily and massively stacked against me. I waited and waited and waited and it seemed the world was passing me by and I wasn’t making progress. I broke down many times and kept my sincerity in my relationship with God even in my imperfection.
Nairaland and this thread is a big blessing. I got so much insight from being humble enough to learn from everyone.
My Application Timeline goes thus,
- Applied Online: October 6, 2020
- Biometrics Request: October 7, 2020
- Biometrics Completed: October 9, 2020
- NSE Additional Document Request (MyBankStatement Cert): November 24, 2020
- Upfront Medical after waiting and not getting request: November 25, 2020
- Medical Updated to Passed: December 2, 2020
- NSE Additional Document Uploaded: December 2, 2020
- NSE Additional Document Received: December 4, 2020
- Eligibility Review Started: December 4, 2020
- Deferred January Admission to September and informed IRCC with the new Acceptance documents via webform and mails to the three Nairobi e-mails.
- Requested GCMS Notes: January 28, 2021
- PPR and BVL and GCMS Notes all dropped: February 9, 2021
A total of FOUR months and 3 days passed and EVERY SINGLE DAY was excruciating. I prayed, fasted, and made covenants with God. I dipped into depression more than once… He gave me Jeremiah 29: 11 and I prayed for favour every night before I slept and every morning before I opened my eyes, I reminded God of His promises in His word. I got my Joy back even before the miracle happened. I was instructed to do what Otunba, lekiboboe and especially Awys did in their various posts like https://www.nairaland.com/6321900/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/228#98846426 and it worked! I am grateful to Blavkmaann , your posts gave me hope and cheered me up and FrankRobbn1 you’re a blessing. I can’t mention everyone but you’ve all inspired me.

Documents submitted:
1. Application for Study Permit made outside Canada (FORM imm1294e)
2. Application for Temporary Residence (FORM imm5257f)
3. Client Information
a. My Statement of Purpose
b. My Birth Certificate
c. My siblings’ Birth Certificates

e. Academic Transcripts from both Universities attended (Student Copy suffices)
f. IELTS General Test Result
g. There was an IRCC Form filled from school I attached.
h. Police Certificate
i. Father’s Death Certificate
j. Study Questionnaire
4. Digital Photo
5. Family Information (FORM imm5645e)
6. Letter of Acceptance
7. International Passport Data Page
8. Proof of Means of Financial Support:
a. Sworn Affidavit for support by mother duly notarized
b. Letter of appointment/confirmation of appointment at work for mother
c. Salary Payroll of the sponsor (mother) for 6 months prior to application
d. Sponsorship Letter
e. Relevant Work certificates for sponsor
f. Printed and scanned Bank Statements of sponsor for 4 months prior to application (Current and Savings totalling 5.4 M Naira)
g. Proof of Sponsor’s Rent Collection over property signed by her Lawyer.

i. Sponsor’s International Passport data page
j. Certificate of Occupancy of sponsor’s property
k. Employment/Work Identity Card of Sponsor
l. Bank Investment Account worth 3.04M Naira

NOTE: When I got the NSE Request for a Mybankstatement Cert, I initially sent series of webforms and mails that I don’t want to do because I was seeing $CAD 30,000 minimum when we barely had half! I was led to submit it with a balance of 3.6M Naira (having already paid $CAD 8,500 deposit) because upon reading the letter again, it said “Proof of Financial Support A mybankStatement certificate showing sufficient funds for your studies for at least 6 months and 12 months of banking history”, which mean (to my new understanding) half of the requirement for a year’s sufficient funds… English can be hard.
Let me not bore you. I hope and trust I have been able to restore someone’s faith here. Don’t be moved by what you see (even on this forum, I saw people with over ten times of what my mother has and even being fully-funded and what not, not getting approved, I’m not despising anyone - God forbid, just keep the faith and DO YOUR HOMEWORK well, God cannot be mocked.), your joy is key – don’t lose it, keep busy and don’t stay idle - depression sets in faster then, a delay can never be a denial.
I’ll be resuming September 2021. Let me stop here, it has ended in praise!
IT HAS ENDED IN PRAISES!

I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!

May we all Receive positive updates soon, AMEN!

Thanks @deommanuel. I have gotten submission confirmation, biometrics completed and request letter for IELTS and mybank statement. I did not respond to the request letter, which was supposed to expire January 8, and up till now my application status is showing “your action is required”. Also, my eligibility review has not even started at all, what is written there “we will send you a message when your eligibility review has started”.

My application time lines:

Application submitted: November 4
Submission confirmation: November 4
Biometrics completed: November 6
Request Letter: December 8 (with 30 days ultimatum)
Request letter expiration date: January 8

Application status as at now:
1. Your action is still required
2. You will be sent a message when your eligibility has started.

Doesn’t this mean that even after 2 months the normal processing has not even begun?!

Dear Gurus in the house, please I need your assistance, please.
Hello,

There have been two or three persons with a similar case here in recent times.
What does "Review of Additional Documents" say?

Whatever the case, you'll have to be patient. It's possible some processing is going on at the backend.

Plus your processing timeline has not exceeded the official 13 weeks Timeline.

Just keep praying for a positive response.

ATHIBAT:
Good evening everyone. I hope someone responds to this enquiry. So I submitted in November 4, got request letter in December 8 and went to do upfront medicals in Feb 8, after reading from here that not doing upfront medicals may be the reason for delayed response.

There at IOM, although the doctor told me my result would be uploaded within 3 days thereabout, there was however a lady that gave me this document (attached) and advised I upload it on my profile or give my agent to assist. I engaged my agent, but he said I do not need to upload any document. Please check this document and advise on what to do please, especially for those who have done their upfront medicals before. I would be in the comment looking out for your advises. Thank you.

Also, I noticed those from October till date that are waiting to process via normal route without providing the NSE request are yet to be responded to, could you please indicate if this is true, if you are in this category.
Hello,
Normally, everyone who has done an upfront medical goes ahead to upload that slip just incase IRCC does not acknowledge receipt of your Medical result from the hospital on time.

So if you can, kindly persuade your agent to send it across via webforms, or to the list of email addresses below..

About the second question, I'm not in that category, but have you received any update at all? Such as "eligibility review started" or Anything else?

Your application has not exceeded standard processing times, so you'll have to be a bit more patient.

@Onweke@deomannuel kindly help out.
Hello,

If you took any pictures with him, those would go a long way

I'm guessing the business part is covered, since you already mentioned company statements and Business documents. (Business Documents to show he's the owner of the business, and a statement to show there will be enough for himself and his family even after sponsoring you).

You should add his international passport too.
As he's a distant Uncle, I'm not sure you'll bear the same surname, so anything that shows he's related to you would go a long way.

Also request an affidavit of support from him.

If there's anything extra, I'm sure others will mention them.

Good day everyone.
Greetings, to All
Please I'll appreciate any advice concerning this

I'm 23 just finished my bachelors in 2020. I have applied for masters at memorial University for fall 2021, I am still job searching, and can't sponsor myself and my parents don't have up to $18000.
My total tuition is about $8000.

Please I'll like to know what the chances are when using a non-relative as a sponsor, if she pays my 1st year tuition as proof she's sponsoring me and is able to still show 10,000 CAD in her bank statement.
She doesn't have kids, and she is going to sign an affidavit stating she is my Godmother.
My mother's account can also serve as my co-sponsor.

Please Advice. Thank you all
You can give it a shot.

But your sponsor needs to show documents to prove her source of income(e.g CAC documents). It's not just about showing a statement of account.
It's also a better idea if your sponsor stands in for you completely.

Kindly allow for more contributions.

Goodluck with your application.

Hello guys
Please How much is biometrics at the vfs global??..
Do they accept cash or POS?
Please someone help
You pay for Biometrics at the time of paying for your visa application. It's included in the 235CAD if you're a first time applicant.

If it's your second Application within 10 years, you wouldn't need to pay for the Biometrics.

I hope it's clear?

Hello Everyone, I got my acceptance letter yesterday from Lambton College for a 2-year Post graduate certificate program. I was asked to make a payment deposit of $7500 for the first semester before I can apply for study permit visa.
Please, how good is the college? And what are the necessary things I need to put into consideration for the visa application?
Hello,
I think you really need to consider their refund policy. That's probably the most important thing to look at.

Basically, you need to have a good proof of funds. Then a well crafted Statement of Purpose and Home ties to indicate you'll come back to Nigeria after your studies.

Look at the link below

https://www.nairaland.com/6321900/canadian-student-visa-thread-part

I'm sure there are a few persons here who applied to lambton. They should be able to help with more information.

Goodluck!

Theresaihez:
Hello,

I need advice.

My goal is to relocate to Canada. I'm currently a 3rd year Nursing student (BSc). Due to the strike and pandemic and uncertainties surrounding the educational system last year, I closed my eyes and applied to just a school (college to be precise) for Bsc Nursing.

I got in few days ago!!!

Here lies my dilemma: I'm currently in 300L and if things go as planned with 4 semesters in a year, I'd be graduating next year; although I don't think personally that that is feasible. Nasu and Ssanu is currently on strike, only God knows if in a few months time, ASUU won't on the basis that FG has not fulfilled their promises.

If God and ASUU willing, I'd graduate in 2 years (this year and next year, Although I'll be adding extra 6 months for uncertainties). I still have to do 1 year internship then NYSC that's about 4.5 years already. If I decide after then to go through PPR, I think I'll need at least 1yr work experience to at least boost CRS score before I start applying. All in all that might take me extra 2 years if I get accepted or 1.5 years... That will be bringing my calculations to 6 or 6.5 years that's 2026/2027. And even if I get there, I'll have to take NCLEX exams before I can get a job. It's also recommended to do at least 1yr brushup course for internationally educated nurses. The certification by provincial council of nurses takes time too... So that's extra 6 months before job search if I take express NCLEX without brush up programs; and 1.5 years if I take the brush up before the exam. That is bring my years calculations to 6.5/7 years or 7.5/8years from this year before I can be licensed.

On the other hand if I accept the admission, I don't think I can transfer my credit because this is the first set to be admitted solely for Bsc Nursing and not practical nursing. If I accept, in 4 years I'd graduate and write my NCLEX upon final year. So I'd be certified to practice there in 4 years and a sure job and 3 years PGWP will be waiting for me because I sure can network and make use of every available opportunity.

So please what should I do. I'm confused, I really want to go but doesn't have a sponsor. Or even someone that can sponsor just my first year with the aim of payment back before I grad.

Someone advised me to just stay and grab my degree and there after try UK or USA since NCLEX can be written here for USA though.
Hello

It's saddening the situation of the education sector in our country.

However, I'll advise you go with the "advice" someone gave to you.

I think it's a better shot. Try and get good grades and God will see you through.

Hello everyone,
Forgive my being naive in advance for this question:

I would like to ask if a new admission letter i.e deferred from January to May which is now stating the mode of study as: ONLINE due to Covid which I understand although it is stated in the new letter that the INCLASS delivery will resume once the government gives guidelines, will this new mode of study affect my application to mean my program is now online just like pursuing online programs that does not require visa,as I will be sending my new admission letter via webform.

Ps: Medical request and AIP received.

I await your kind inputs. Thank you.
I'm not sure this will affect your application, since you already received MER.

From previous posts, I'll suggest you wait until you get PPR before submitting the new admission letter.

Hello Deommanuel,

...it could also be a system glitch. Usually, at the stage of which your application is being processed, that letter isn't suppose to drop.

The accurate answer lies therein in the notes, if at the date you receive the letter and the correspondence didn't reflect in it, then it will obviously be a system glitch.

This is to the best of my knowledge.

Best of Luck
Thank you @justmellow

Guys please help me on this one.
There's no defined Application processing duration.

If you submit your NSE Documents upfront, the only advantage is that your application "may" be processed faster, considering they won't have to ask you for it again.

But even faster can be 3 months or 3 weeks.

You can never be sure.
