Cisco, dualcore, am not trying to frighten anyone. But the truth of the matter is though the manufacturers claimed that this phones has inbuilt modem they failed to failed to equip the phone hardware with all necessary to withstand the rigours of browsing and downloading. U know what happened to my e71, first, the battery started getting hot and discharged quickly, i thought this was the beginning, then all of a sudden, i couldnt get networks on the phone in as much as i tried. The e71 is almost a year old but it has seen hell from me.

Whatever you claim that happened to your e71, thats your luck. There is a yoruba adage that says "na person head person dey use carry meat for plate". Maybe your head carried a small meat inside the plate. Thats why your phone misbehaved. grin grin grin. I have peeps that have been using their phone modems powerfully (when I say powerfully, I think you know what I mean) since over two years ago and the phones are still kicking. Go buy modem. Hope you will be lucky this time around.

You Folks keep taking it up the arse with these 3g broadband providers. Data limits are the ultimate FAIL. I switched to Starcomms and routinely download 3gb in one day. As long as MTN et al have their puny data limits, they'll remain inferior to the evdo service providers. What Use is a fast Internet connection if you can't download stuff?

Jeezzzzzzzzzzz!!! 3Gig in a day? Thats very cool. It aint bad atall. Can you help me download a 3Gig file on one day? Its a contract and I will pay for it.

Can you as well tell me more about the evdo service providers. How much do they charge per month? Thanks

Wrong. . .d fact that its called a 3G modem doesnt mean its strictly 3G . . . It got both Edge and Gprs capabilities.. . . . So if there's no 3G it wuld automatically switch or u culd do it manually via d pc interface. . . .the speeds prof was refering to are KiloBytes/s

I know

[s]Your modem is only useful if you are in a 3G coverage area. [/s]

Don't get me wrong here. That expression is a metaphor, not the literal meaning. The meaning of this in this context is that your modem will be very slow if you are not in a 3G coverage area.

toluxa1:

O boy, all this guys wey dey 3g areas dey enjoy oo. Here in Minna, 3g is still a dream we're hoping will come soon. I have used the MTN Package of 3gig limit twice now and not one did i use up to 300MB finish before 1 month. The tin dey pain me seriously angry

@Dragnet, this is exactly what I mean by that metaphor

toluxa1:

What use is the data modem to me in a Non 3g area

You can now see that the so called 3G modem is useless if you are not in a 3G coverage area.

Dual Core:

my n95 is over a year old, has streamed a total of about 670gig and is still alive and kicking. your modem activity on your phone didnt kill it, something else did.

If using multiple functions kill phones, mine should be dead now cuz as we speak i am using it as a webcam via mobiola, as a wireless hotspot via joikuspot and its connected to my home theatre via usb and ofcourse its charging.

@Dual Core, you are the bomb. My 11 months old N70 has streamed just 50GB and I feel I am over using it. That means I am just starting.  grin grin grin . I must stream 1TB on it before I consider buying a modem.  grin grin grin

Hi Gurus, is there any software or code that shows a withheld number? There is one annoying gurl that has been calling me with a withheld number. When I pick up the call, all she says is hello or hi and she hangs up the call. Not only this, she can flash me up to 30 times in a day. This is very annoying. I trust you all in this section. Help me out please.

I no too dey feel mtn and zain for my area. I only use them as backup anytime my etisalat fails to pull down files. I get an average speed of 20KB/s on etisalat, 10KB/s on mtn and a mere 5KB/s on zain. See my etisalat screenshot.

Why waste your time downloading windows 7. Enuff boiz don get am & besides the thing full Otigba.
I tried the otigba but it nearly crashed my new inspiron 1545. Thats why I don't wanna take the otigba risk again. The one I want to download is the Dell's OEM version, purchased directly from Dell.

Are you based in Lagos? What edition is it? Home basic and premium are out of the way. I need either professional or ultimate. Is it tested ok?

I need to download a 3GB file within three days (maximum of 1 week). Do we have anybody capable of achieving this? Its not for free oo. I'm gonna pay N500 per GB wink wink wink . The file is Windows 7 Ultimate (Registered version). A friend in South Africa bought it and uploaded it to two servers (the almighty rapidshare.com and hotfile.com). You can reach me on deoyel24@yahoo.com if you are interested. You can make some cool cash from downloading.

NB: The 3GB file is not a single file shocked shocked . Its splitted into parts. Its either 100MB (30 files) or 200MB (15 files).

Like on a Good 3G network coverage, u can fly way beyond Speeds u neva experienced,

Why, because DATA is d Primary work of erm Modems, . .your fone as modem's got some restriction and lotta use of the fone resources for some thing else!

Nothing More,

PS: You should come see my speeds @ 200 - 300KBps non-stop, while my Phone chill !
The speed you are talking about here is in what unit? Kilobit/sec or kilobyte/sec?
Alireta:

We have tested out both phones and USb modems and found very little difference in terms of delivery. Getting 200-300KBps non-stop on a USB modem is no big deal. We've consistently seen speeds of 400KBps - 1.2 MBps using Nokia phones as modems.

If you have a phone with built-in modem, you really are not missing anything significant if you don't bother with modems.
You are absolutely right!! You said my mind.

There is nothing so special about the modem. Nokia phones have good in- built modems. Your modem is only useful if you are in a 3G coverage area.
Phones / Re: MTN Data Modem Now N8,500 by deoyel25(m): 9:37pm On Nov 28, 2009
I dont need the goddamn locked modem even if it is free of charge. I rock with my phone modem on any network. The speed aint bad. The only modem that I can buy is the one that is compatible with all the networks.

@hayprof, is your modem compatible with all the networks?

@Genuflect, I tried using mjoy on PC yesterday after almost three months. My method does not work again. I tried the transcoder for the first time. It did not work as well. Is mjoy playing some funny games? Lol.

@Naijaexper, @Honsule @aieromon, I want y'all to please confirm that the transcoder is working.
