"Biafrans" keep claiming they have requested to leave Nigeria , and if you have only partial contact in your brain, you might actually believe them.

But let’s be factual here, as of today, there has never been any formal, documented request for secession from the Southeast. None. No petition, no referendum, no legitimate paper trail , nothing.

Why?

Because secession is not protected under the Nigerian constitution. You cannot threaten to balkanize a sovereign nation and it will treat it lightly.

It is not done anywhere in the world.

The Southeast has elected representation in Abuja through the legislative arm of government, and only the National Assembly , not an individual or a mob , holds the authority to make or process any formal motion on behalf of the people.

At the state level, every SE state is being led by an Igbo governor who hails from that state!

People keep confusing self-determination with secession, and they are not synonymous.

Self-determination is the right of a people to pursue autonomy, cultural preservation, and fair representation within a recognized state system.
An example will be your village seeking to become an autonomous community and going though the process with the government.

Secession, on the other hand, is a unilateral declaration to break away from that state, and in Nigeria, that is unconstitutional and illegal. Even the threat of it.

IPOB has never followed any recognized path to self-determination. That is not conjecture, it is a fact.

They cannot produce any proof of submitting documentation to the UN or any legitimate international body.

No country in the world would negotiate with a movement registered as a limited liability company.

All they have are photo ops, Nnamdi Kanu and his diaspora followers posing with random white men in suits outside UN buildings, trying to pass off selfies as diplomacy.

The UN Charter on Self-Determination is very clear: it requires structured negotiation, documented intent, non-violence, and recognized representation.

Kanu obliterated any of those chances the moment he formed Eastern Security Network (ESN) and declared an armed struggle.

So where did this myth come from , this fantasy that “we already asked to leave Nigeria”? And Nigeria refused.

"Give us referendum " they chant, it is not countries that give referendums to ask whether you want to leave.

It came straight from Kanu’s propaganda , a convenient lie fed to his followers who never demand evidence or seek for it. Google is free, you have 24 hours in a day but you can't spare it researching for the information.

He knows one truth about the average emotionally charged, Biafra-identifying Igbo person: the easiest place to hide facts is behind sentiments.

Just invoke “Ndi Igbo” and “freedom” and logic dies instantly.

If Ndi Igbo truly “asked to leave Nigeria,” how come nearly every prominent Igbo elite, the same ones who actually have the wealth, structure, and influence , still have their businesses, homes, and investments across Nigeria?

You want to secede without the political class, without the economic base, without even consensus , just online anger, broadcasts and hashtags?

To what end? what’s the endgame?

Shout “Biafra or Death!” while setting the Southeast on fire and making it unlivable for ndi Igbo?

You will not succeed!

Aka apukwana unu!

Crime › Re: Nnamdi Kanu Arrives In Court, Reaffirms Faith In Justice Amid Media Displeasure by dequir: 1:17pm On Oct 27, 2025
The reason you see so many folks in IPOB is simple, their Supreme Leader sold them a fantasy:

The idea that all their pain, poverty, and frustration would vanish the day Biafra comes.

Imagine being born poor, with no prospects, little or no ambition.

You grow up angry , angry at life that failed you, angry at people doing better, angry at a world that feels rigged against you.

Then someone shows up and gives that anger a target and a promise:
“Your suffering isn’t your fault. It’s Nigeria’s fault. Once Biafra comes, everything will change.”

It’s the same psychology that drives the most hopeless and poorest people into blind religion.

When life offers no relief, they invest their faith in an unseen miracle , “my reward is in heaven.”
For these haven’t-done-wells, their “heaven” became Biafra.

IPOB became their new religion , the gospel of a coming nation that would erase their failures and restore dignity.

And the ones abroad? They were sold a different flavor of delusion.

IPOB told them they were nation builders, “funders of the revolution,” future ministers in a country that doesn’t exist.

They even shared fake appointments , titles waiting for a government that will never come.

They were sold a sense of importance, told they were part of history, that their donations were building a future.

But the truth is, no Biafra is coming.

Every “Biafra will come” countdown passed. Every blood moon to signal Biafra "prophecy" failed.

Even if Kanu wasn’t arrested, Biafra still wouldn’t come.

There isn’t a single country in the world that believes it will or even knows you exist.

They said, “We are registered in 25 countries.” You never asked , registered as what?

Because the real registration was for fundraising, not sovereignty.

No serious movement registers itself as a limited liability company.

“Our plight” was code for “they’re kil*ling Christians in Nigeria” , emotional leverage to keep Western based donors sympathetic, not to trigger secessi0n.

And when time started running out, Kanu changed the story:
“They are Islamizing you. Donate for weap0ns or you’ll be wiped out.”

You will not get self-determination through armed struggle.

It is not self-defense when you turn the gu*ns on your own land and your own people.

When that fear campaign still didn’t bring enough cash, he formed ESN under the guise of protection against herdsmen.

Till date, they haven’t caught one herdsman.

They turned to in-sourcing the terror , recruiting never-do-wells, ex-convicts, and frustrated men with nothing to lose.

They orchestrated pris0n breaks, burnt police stations, released hardened criminals into our communities, ar*med them, and dumped them in our bushes.

What serious man with a good job will leave his home to live in a bush?

What keeps most of those men there now is the taste of the spoils , the money they make from ki*dnapping, rans0m, organ harvesting, and pillaging our land.

Then there’s the oath. They make them swear oaths!

Most of those young men are trapped in that life because ha agbago ndu na “Biafra or Death.”
And Biafra has not come.
Leaving would brand them “sabo" and they will not inherit Biafra.

That’s where the insecurity in the South East came from , not from any Caliphate, but from your own sons.
All Igbo.
Homegrown chaos, dressed in false liberation.

No sovereign nation will ever negotiate secession with a limited liability company.

That is what IPOB is. That is not a matter of opinion; it is a fact.

IPOB is not recognized anywhere by any world power as a nation or a people.

It is an organization registered as an Ltd in the UK, and proscribed in Nigeria as an unlawful society , because it is illegal to seek to balkanize the country.

Secession is not your right.

Self-determination under the UN charter is very specific , and armed struggle nullifies that quest.

Once you set up an armed movement within a sovereign nation, it will not be considered “self-defense.”

The dream was a business model all along.

The money you send doesn’t build a nation; it builds Kanu’s comfort, his family’s luxury, his influence. They are made for life! That is the family business.

The so-called Biafran “struggle” in those bushes isn’t funded by your just your donations.

It’s also funded by cri*me, money made from ki*dna*pping, ki*lling, and r0bbing Igbo people for their money, cars, and organs.

It’s funded by ext0rtion of politicians who thought they were buying protection and a voting bloc by privately 'aligning' with Kanu.

That’s why many Igbo politicians dance around this issue , because many of them gave him money for the “signed, sealed, and delivered” deal in 2019.

Meanwhile, the followers keep waiting , broke in pocket or broke in spirit , clinging to a promise that was never meant to be kept.

And when reality refuses to match the dream, the anger curdles , not just at Nigeria, but at life itself.

That’s the tragedy of false hope: it doesn’t free the oppressed; it just traps them in a deeper illusion.

Good bless Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
Alu Melu

Mr Chinonso Nze*** resides in the USA. His mother is from Mgbidi in Imo State, but he is from Ihiala in Anambra State.

He has been donating to the "Struggle" since 2019, with donations totaling $22,000 between 2019 and 2023.

I don't even know what is the "struggle"

He once worked with Dr Godwin Maduka as a medical consultant.

In March 2023, his junior brother, who had returned from Australia, was kidnapped in Amorka while heading to their maternal home in Mgbidi.

He was driving a Mercedes SUV

They took him to Orsumoghu camp, where he disclosed that his family were financiers of the struggle and they shouldn't kill him

They searched through his phone and discovered that he's a big man

Despite this, they demanded a ransom of 100 million naira. His brother in the USA intervened, reminding them that he's a financier of the struggle and offering to send 5 million naira for beer via at all at all

They still refused. This man tried reaching a certain struggle leader in Finland, all to no avail. I don't even know his name

His brother stayed there for 5 days, and he ended up paying 95 million Naira. They told him that they'll call him to collect the Jeep later

He didn't report to the police and he warned his brother not to

The kidnappers promised to return the Jeep after completing their "Lord's work", but it was never returned.

After about 2 months, the car wasn't returned, he later got in touch with the man in Finland.

The man in Finland said he'll look into it. Two months went into 3,4,5, and Six Months.

He contacted the man in Finland again and he told him that he should forget about the money and the car, that Umu oma is using it to secure the land

An Anambra man, who is donating to you monthly, you still kid.napped him in his own land?

He threatened the man in Finland to report to 82 division Enugu that he found his car tracked in Bayelsa and he wonders why they're securing Bayelsa with his car

The man in Finland told him to calm down. Two days later, they burnt his house in the village that he built with 70 million in 2020,

Burnt his brother's house that's still under construction and intentionally broke his mum's arm

They told her to tell her son that if he brings Fulani janjawwed zoo army into their land, they'll k.ill her.

Well, he didn't report again. He allowed God to be the judge

He has since stopped donating and has relocated the mum and everybody in his compound to Lagos and hasn't returned since then

May Affliction never rise the second

Please what's the struggle and who's the man I'm Finland?

Written by Iyke Orji

Note: Struggle here means IPOB armed wing (ESN/Unknown Gunmen) activities which they said was towards creating Biafra.

Let me tell you for free, from Facebook to Instagram, YouTube, tiktok and others, Nigerians make good money every day. I make my own from Quora which is like this Nairaland. There are lots of money on social media. You only need to learn and pitch your tent on one. When it begins to pay you, you will not understand.
Oga, saying you are earning from Quora is a lie. See Quora's refutation of your claim below:

No, you can't.

This is just the way that the systems are set up, I'm afraid. No African country is eligible for monetization on Quora, in fact only about 25 countries anywhere in the world are. There aren't any steps for you to follow.

If someone has told you that Quora is a site for earning money, then either they were mistaken or they were lying to you. Even the very few people who do earn from Quora earn very little, and most of us never earn anything at all. Nobody anywhere is paid for asking questions or answering them, not anywhere in the world. There was a time when asking questions could lead to payment for some people, and you may have read this online, but it's no longer true anywhere, for anyone.

The tragedy of Biafra is not just what was lost during the war , it’s how generations after still haven’t learned from it.

The 20 pounds story is a perfect example of how misinformation and selective memory have kept us trapped in emotional cycles instead of critical reflection.

During the 1967–1970 Biafran War, Nigeria was still using the British pound sterling as its legal tender.

Most Igbo people had their life savings in that currency.

But when Ojukwu declared the Republic of Biafra in the Eastern region in 1967, he introduced the Biafran pound as the new currency.

That single move meant that to survive under Biafra, people had to exchange their pounds sterling for the new currency.

Markets, trade, everything in the Eastern Region started to run on Biafran pounds , so people complied, believing in the promise of a new nation.

But here’s where it became a trap.

When the war ended and Biafra surrendered, the Nigerian government rejected the Biafran pound completely.

It was declared worthless.

Those who still had Nigerian pounds in their accounts before the war were given a flat compensation of 20 pounds, no matter how much they had originally saved , ₤100, ₤1,000, ₤100,000 , millions, it didn’t matter. Everyone got ₤20.

That policy wiped out entire generations of wealth.

Families that had built legacies through trade and education were left with nothing.

That’s why, to this day, some homes still keep those old Biafran notes , not because they’re worth anything, but as reminders of betrayal, loss, and what blind nationalism cost us.

But instead of learning from that, we’ve allowed history to repeat itself in new disguises.

During Ralph Uwazurike’s MASSOB era, the dream was revived with the same emotional pull , and the same pattern of untruths.

He introduced Biafran passports, Biafran ID cards, Biafran driver’s licenses , license plates none of which were valid anywhere, not even in the Southeast.

People bought into it emotionally and financially.

It was supposed to be a step toward sovereignty, but it turned out to be just another way to collect money from desperate people.

Then came Nnamdi Kanu.

Charismatic, persuasive, emotional and eratic, he knew exactly which wounds to touch.

He built his movement around Biafra pride and collective pain, but in the end, the pattern didn’t change.

Money for “Biafran cenotaphs,” money to “secure Igbo borders,” money to “build radio stations” , all raised with urgency, all swallowed by personal interests.

Nothing tangible came out of it.

Then came Simon Ekpa with his own version , and now others are sprouting, each claiming to be the true heir to Biafra’s liberation. It’s the same script, recycled with new faces.

And that’s the deeper problem: Biafra, as an emotional idea, has weakened us mentally. Made us too sentimental that we suspend reason and common sense.

It has kept us in a perpetual state of grievance without progress constantly looking backward instead of forward.

Instead of studying strategy, governance, and economics, we keep chasing sentiment, conspiracy, and nostalgia.

We’ve built a culture where victimhood feels more comfortable than accountability, and where anyone who challenges the myth is branded a traitor.

But think about it , after all these years, what has changed?

The Southeast is still underdeveloped beneath its potential not because of some curse, but because our leaders , political, religious, and activists have learned how to weap0nize emotion in everything.

They know how to keep people angry, agitated and loyal.

Every time one scam fails, another appears wearing the same flag.

It’s time to wake up. Biafra is no longer a political project; it has become an emotional business.

The same story keeps repeating , Uwazurike cashed out. Kanu cashed out. Ekpa too. And many more in between them. The next person will too.

The only people who keep losing lives, livelihood are ordinary Igbos who genuinely believe that shouting “Biafra now!” online or sending money from abroad will somehow restore their dignity.

True liberation won’t come from flags or slogans.

It will come when we start admitting that we have been bamboozled and start converting economic might into political leverage, when we invest in education, industry, and unity within the Southeast.

When we start producing leaders who think, not just shout.

The first Biafra was built on idealism; this new one is built on manipulation.

And until we learn the difference, history will keep repeating itself only this time, there won’t be any pounds left to lose. We will lose ourselves and everything.

There is nothing like egalitarian society in any country, it is just a theory which never exists. The real thing is that everybody should know his/her place in the scheme of existence, and keep to it. And if not able, the person should quietly exit from the group.

Even in the western society where women and the children are given the utmost protection by their governments, the men are always at the receiving end of it. Can that be called egalitarian in any way?

A Yoruba is the president today doesn't me he will be there forever. So continue your nonsense selective sugarcoated and praise singing post for apc and tinubu.
