I had my baby in New York in 2016 on tourist visa but I informed them at the Port of entry that I was going to have my bat and they allowed me in. Before I traveled I inquired about cost and I was told that hospital bill among other bills for self pay is $6,000 dollars. Altogether I paid almost $15,000 for the delivery ( hospital, doctor's bill, lab, anesthesia and paediatric care). But I was surprised when the hospital gave me my itemized receipt, it showed a bill of $35,000. And since I paid $6,000. The balance of $25,000 was written off as self pay adjusted discount. When I asked they said that's how the template is in their system. Anyway, I gathered all my other receipts from Doctor, lab etc. Fast forward to January 2018
I tried to renew my Visa. This time I applied for medical visa. Because I am pregnant again. And the interview went this way
VO- how long was you longest stay in the US
ME- 3 months
VO- what were you doing there
ME- I had my baby
Vo- how much did you pay
ME- almost$15,000
Vo- may I have the receipts
And I handed the receipts to him
Vo- you were billed $35,000 for hospital and you only paid $6,000. Why did they give you such huge discount
ME- I wouldn't know, I was asked if I was self pay or with insurance and I said self pay and they said their bill for self pay is $6,000 which I paid in full. It's possible the other bills are for those with insurance
Vo- I'm sorry at this time you do not qualify for US Visa and handed me the white paper.
I'm really upset. I have reapplied. Please help me. I want to know if there is anything I need to do before my upcoming interview to enhance my getting the visa.

I would suggest that when nxth ur going for ur interview try and staple together the letter for self pay bill you collected from the hospital before going there with your zero balance and hands it over to the Vo if asked

Hello shawbabe thanks for d response but let me clarify sometins to you i applied last year early november planning to travel by early december with hubby to visit and have a nice time for jst 2 weeks and come bck i didnt even realize i was pregnant then but we couldnt secure appointment in nov\december till january 3rd we had to write to dem to postpone our travel date to january but by den i was aware of my pregnancy and i had resolved that if asked i wl tell dem d truth jst dat i wasnt, so how is DAT my fault and I declared the budget to be a little above $15000 for v.delivery and $17000 for c.s mayb u dnt understand d 15k and 17 k resp I jst had to shorten my words so as not to prolong d post. Thanks

quote author=Shawbabe post=55079087]I had a hard time understanding your text. Like you have a problem with using the word "did"? Really bad English. But that's not why we are here...

.....to be honest your wrong doing was not declaring in January your purpose for applying. Yes you were not asked but here you are again in March now declaring child birth? Nne even if I was the VO I would say in my mind you think we are stupid.
Secondly, your answer for budget is not YOUR budget. You quoted what you've heard. Saying "above 15K" could mean $1 million. Your answers to these questions comes across "guymanish" to me oh. So my guess is you were not credible enough for the VO. Coupled with all the errors you and Oga keep making in your applications, the thing appears like a joke to you people or desperate to them.

Sorry for the late response. It was Sierra providence health network on the letter Esperati sent to us. Though for the interview we maintained Doctor esperati as the doctor we using. It's confusing But I suggest you mail and ask Doctor esperati themselves.

Best wishes [/quote]

Doctoresparati" is the name of the organisation and not a doctor, they'll assign a doctor to you and I doubt him "Rodolfo" takes patients. Yes, it's the doctor assigned to you you mention for interview possibly with a letter from that doctor

Hello Family, I’ve being a silent follower of this thread for more than a year now, even before I got married. I have a compilation of successful and otherwise visa interviews. It will be nice to relate my experience earlier this morning at the embassy (Lagos).
Went with my wife and the queue was long though, with a lot of denials here and there. Finally our turn..

VO- Morning, passports please
Hands over passport
VO- Why are you going to the US?
Me- Vacation
DW- To deliver our baby
VO- Which doctor?
DW- Doctor Esperati
VO- Why did you choose there?
DW- 2 of my friends have previously delivered there, and recommended it, also I researched and got some positive reviews.
VO- (typing vigorously) … What is the budget?
Me- Slightly above $12,000. But we estimated $15,000. I have a budget sheet
VO- No, I do not need it………. Tell me about your company... “Caleb ……………company”
Me- I am into the downstream petroleum industry, bla bla bla bla……..
VO- What challenges do you encounter in the business?
Me- Some scarcity here and there, middle men, black market, difficulty in getting goods, etc.
VO- (typing vigorously and for quite some time).. you know you can not take 15k dollars into the states, you have break it down or declare it.
Me- Yes, I am aware, I’ve got some credit cards as well.
VO- (after some moment of more vigorous typing) … congratulations, pick up your….. I nor hear the rest, I was already in cloud 9!

No documents at all was requested. Not even a glance at the bank statements. It can only be God.
My best wishes to those awaiting theirs. Just be genuine and be confident. It is okay to be nervous and anxious but be confident.
Peace!

I'm not sure there is actually some thing called 'correspondence letter'. You should try to connect with the hospital/doctor via email. You can call at first, introduce yourself and state your mission. Then ask for them to send their price list/self pay package doc via email or put whatever you discussed on the phone in writing and send to you via email. From there you continue the discussion via email, thereby creating an email thread between you and them. Print out the thread and take to the embassy for your interview. This was what I did and used for Poe. In fact that was the only thing the CBP officer checked and he said it was enough for him.

U mean u used dat for your visa interview at d embassy?
Good luck!

I had my visa interview yesterday 05.01.17 in Lagos with my DW and LO. Quite simple and straightforward.

Me: hello? (while tossing in our passports through the hole)
VO: is she your daughter?
Me & DW: yes our daughter
VO: why are u going to the US?
Me: to have our baby
VO: have you ever been outside your country?
Me: yes, UK with my wife and Ghana for my professional exam.
VO: what do you do?
Me: I'm bla bla bla with bla bla bla
VO: what do you do?
DW: i'm a home maker
VO: ok
VO: what do you do in your company?
Me: I bla bla
VO: what's your budget for this trip?
Me: a little above $16,000.00
VO: do you have any sort of statement to show?
Me: yeah (passed my statement from my stockbroker, bank statement and pension statement)
She paid more attention on the pension (date of commencement, balance, employer name)
VO: how do you intend to pay for this?
Me: I would be self paying, I've been investing in stocks for this and from other savings (note share value plenty and pension plenty too but 1m in my bank account)
VO: what's your company into?
Me: downstream oil & gas company
VO: your visa would be ready for pickup in 3 business days from now.
Me: thank you
