Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, evaded being attacked on Wednesday afternoon by some disgruntled students at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta.

Recall that Polytechnic students demonstrated on Monday against the school management's failure to deliver their HND final year results, which prevented them from being mobilised for the one-year mandatory NYSC duty and increased school fees.

The Polytechnic management shut the school indefinitely to stave off property destruction.

Dissatisfied with the situation, the irate students protested on the streets of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

FMTBLOG gathered that on Wednesday, the Deputy Governor's convoy was on its way to represent the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations at 35 Artillery Brigade Alabama in Abeokuta, Ogun State. However, the convoy was stopped by protesting students.

The enraged MAPOLY students marched through Abeokuta's Oke-Ilewo axis, holding placards and shouting Aluta choruses.

When they saw the Deputy Governor's convoy, they became agitated and rushed to attack it to demobilise it, despite her security personnel and other police officials' persuasion to remain calm and allow the convoy to pass.

The situation prompted the Deputy Governor's Convoy to make a sudden diversion in front of the popular Iwe-Irohin House to her lodge, allowing the protesting students to pass calmly before leaving for the scheduled function.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Government, in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, stated that during the melee, there was obstruction of vehicular movement, and some of the Deputy Governor's security vehicle was damaged, as well as her security operatives, who were injured in the process of maintaining law and order, contrary to press reports.

Speaking to journalists, Comrade Adeyanju Francis, Ogun State Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), accused the convoy led by the state's Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, of shooting at them during a demonstration.

According to the demonstrators, while marching to the NNPC area in Abeokuta, they came across the Deputy Governor's motorcade at the OPIC roundabout.

The students attempted to approach the deputy governor to express their concerns but were met with sporadic gunshots from her security detail.

Grandfather Found De@d In His Bed After Refusing To Leave His Home Of Over 50 Years Amid L.A Wildfire

Following the Eaton Fire that raged through Altadena, Los Angeles, an 83-year-old grandfather was found by his family amidst the ash and debris.

The Eaton Fire claimed the lives of five out of 10 persons.

Rodney Nickerson was one of those victims; on Thursday, January 9, when his Altadena home was reduced to ash and rubble, he was found dead in his bed.

During Thursday's tour of the remnants of her childhood home, Kimiko Nickerson, his daughter, said that the final words her father spoke to her over the phone were "I'll be here tomorrow."

As Kimiko said, "We found his bones, his whole body was intact,"


According to Kimiko, her father, Rodney, insisted on remaining in the family home he had bought for $5 in 1968. The Nickerson family has a strong connection to the city of Los Angeles.


According to Kimiko, her great-grandfather, William Nickerson, founded and owned Watts' Nickerson Gardens, the city's biggest public housing complex.

Rodney spent forty-five years as a project engineer with Lockheed Martin.

According to Kimiko, her mother was employed at Lockheed as well. She stated that since he was still accustomed to waking up at 4 a.m., he was most likely retiring to bed shortly after their previous discussion, around 9:30 p.m.

"That was the last thing he verbally said to me was, 'I'll be here tomorrow,'" she continued.


"My son tried to get him to leave, my neighbours and myself, and he said he'll be fine..."

After the fire devastated his neighbourhood, 66-year-old Victor Shaw was discovered clutching a hose, making him another victim.

Shari Shaw, his sister, told CBS News that she believes he attempted to put out the fire.

"He wasn't in the best of health, but I know he probably fought with all his will," she continued.

She will miss her older brother, Shaw said.

"I'll miss talking to him, joking about, travelling with him, and I'll just miss him to death," she stated. "I just hate that he had to go out like that."

The Altadena fire also claimed the lives of 67-year-old amputee Anthony Mitchell and his son, Justin, who has cerebral palsy.

According to Mitchell's daughter Hajime White, "they didn't make it out," and the two were waiting for an ambulance to get them.

According to the AP, White claimed that authorities informed her that Mitchell had been discovered beside his son's bed.

Strong winds have fuelled fires in heavily populated areas of the region, destroying almost 10,000 houses. While photographs depict heartbreaking scenes of residences reduced to charred debris, residents have spoken of terrifying escapes and losing their homes.

Nigerian words have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) as part of an update.

The new vocabulary captures the vibrant street manners and Pidgin English that are quickly becoming popular throughout Africa and beyond, as well as the daily life of the typical Nigerian.

The new entries showcase Nigeria's cultural diversity while reflecting demographics and ethnic nationalities.

A few of the entries are both verbs and nouns. For example, Japanese is regarded as both a verb and a noun in OED. Jand appears in both parts of speech as well. To assist non-Nigerians who are interested in learning the dictions, the entries this time also include pronunciations.

On Tuesday, January 7, Dr Kingsley Ugwuanyi, an OED consultant and passionate supporter, posted the additions on LinkedIn.

He claimed that OED editors employed corpora to identify words that are more commonly and extensively used nationwide.

He clarified that frequency, broad usage, age (usually words that have been in use for 0–10 years), and the words' social value are among the factors.

"This time, I not only draughted most of the words but also had the incredible opportunity to provide their pronunciations," Ugwuanyi wrote on LinkedIn. When you browse the OED online and click on the pronunciations, you will hear my voice bringing these words to life.

OED added 29 Nigerian-specific entries in 2020, such as "danfo," "okada," "next tomorrow," and "mama put."

52-Year-Old P@edophile who Listed The Names Of Children He Plans To S3xually Ass@ult In A Diary Jailed

A paedophile who kept a diary in which he named children he hoped to rape "someday very soon" has been imprisoned.

Gerrard Charnley declared in the twisted notebook that he was "proud to be a p@edophile" while writing in awful detail about his filthy fantasies.

The 52-year-old penned in his "My P@edophile Diary" the names of the youngsters he wanted to r@pe, as well as the dates he planned to carry out the attacks.

He also downloaded "p@edophile manuals" labelled "The P@edophile's Handbook" and "How to Practice Child Love", which included tips and guidance on child abuse.

Charnley wrote in one frightening entry from June 2019: "I want to r@pe [girl's name] someday very soon." I am delighted to express this as a paedophile."

Officers discovered the secret memoir when they raided his home in Coronation Drive, Widnes, on February 27, 2024, and seized 12 electronic devices.

Charnley had downloaded so many child abuse images and films that the authorities were unable to tally them.

He appeared this week at Liverpool Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 14 months in prison and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

Charnley was also instructed to sign the sex offenders' register for the following decade.

When told he was going to prison, he nodded and said to the judge as he exited the dock, "I'm guilty. I'm sorry. Okay.

According to prosecutor Sarah Holt, one of the documents recovered on his devices was headed "My P@edophile Diary," which "contained references to specific dates and what the defendant wanted to do to particular children."

This diary also included a list of Charnley's favourite websites for seeing indecent photographs of minors, as well as a list titled "preteen s**gs I'd love to rape". Other Word docs and PDF files he had prepared included "P@edo Thoughts 2019".

Meanwhile, he was discovered to have used his laptop to access the dark web, and his browser included bookmarks for sites branded "p@edo links," "naughty kids," and "little girls."

Charnley's VLC Media Player app history on his Samsung Galaxy tablet also revealed that he had watched films with titles "indicative of material containing child @buse".

Charnley was also discovered to have collected a total of 15,081 images and 2,308 videos classified as category A, which depicts the most extreme kinds of abuse.

These included pictures of babies being r@ped.

He also downloaded 17,383 Category B photographs, 169,968 Category C images, nine computer-generated banned images of children, and nine extreme pornographic images.

Because of the enormous content on his devices, the authorities could not categorise almost 230,000 additional photographs.

Charnley stated in an interview that he "remembered downloading documents such as a p@edophile manual, but thought he had deleted it without reading it".

Myles Wilson, defending, told the court that after his arrest, his client contacted Stop It Now, a charity that seeks to prevent child sexual abuse, and suffers from "poor physical and mental health".

He continued, "He helps his elderly father, who has mobility challenges and rarely leaves the house. The defendant performs his father's shopping.

"He had developed an obsession with this type of information, nearly a habit. He admitted to the cops that he has problems and that he likes youngsters.

"He does not want to be in this situation in the future. He was relieved, he says to me, when he was detained because he knew this chapter of his life was ending.

Charnley was guilty of possessing indecent photos of children, three counts of creating indecent images, possession of forbidden pictures of children, possession of severe pornographic photos, and possession of a paedophile manual.

During the sentencing, Judge Andrew Menary KC, Honorary Recorder of Liverpool, stated: "This court sees, tragically, many cases of this nature. However, compared to others, your situation is unique in that the nature of the discovered material and the content of the photographs are incredibly startling.

"Around half a million photographs were recovered from your devices.

"Due to the enormity of the task, I'm told that 232,000 photos are still uncategorised. Your image collection was tremendous by any standard.

"You appear to have kept a journal of what you want to do to children. They're horrible.

"They may be you acting out your dreams in writing, but they reveal the filthy, perverted nature of your wants and your motivation for obtaining all of this material.

"This written material plainly shows that your fixation was not idle but rather one focused on child abuse. It is trite to mention that, while you did not create these photographs, your access to and collection of them makes a market for this type of content.

"I have carefully considered whether a sentence other than immediate imprisonment is appropriate for this offence. Defendants like you who have committed this offence frequently benefit from Probation Service construction involvement.

"However, there are some offences that can only be considered as very heinous. I'm afraid that is the situation in which you find yourself.

"I am satisfied that only an immediate jail sentence is adequate to deal with the volume and nature of offending detailed in this case, in which you actively sought out and collected a massive amount of awful material over many years.

"Alongside that, you have generated your material, demonstrating that you have a clear desire to participate in the abuse of these children."

JUST IN: Ayomide Adeleye, Who Confessed To K!lling Christianah Not In Prison, Never Remanded 4 M@rder—Reports

Ayomide Adeleye, the young man who confessed to k***g Christianah Idowu, his friend and neighbour, is not in any correctional facility in Lagos State, FIJ has confirmed.

First arrested and remanded in September, rumours of his release began spreading in December, leading friends and family to worry over the state of the murder case against him.

FIJ earlier reported that efforts to verify these claims led the newspaper to insiders in the police force who said they had heard the same claims but information was limited by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

“The police handed him over to the Ikoyi Prison, but the judiciary is slow in its dealings. The warrant doesn’t expire, so I wonder how he secured release for a mu***r offence,” they told FIJ.

FIJ then made some findings in the NCoS and learnt from a credible source with access to records that there were two persons bearing ‘Ayomide Adeleye’ in their custody, but none was charged with murder and both had since been freed.

This source said, “We had one in Ikoyi and one in Kirikiri Medium, but they are no longer with us here. They have been released. None of them was charged with mu***r or kidnapping.”

When FIJ asked for a reiteration, the source said, “There is no Ayomide Adeleye in any prison in Lagos. Maybe you should ask the police because they are the ones who obtained the remand warrant.”

FIJ made several attempts to reach Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police spokesman, but he did not respond to our calls or messages. Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, promised to find out and get back to FIJ.

Femi Falana, Nigeria's Senior Advocate, said that former President Umaru Yar'Adua reversed the sale of the Port Harcourt Refinery to a consortium led by business billionaire Aliko Dangote because the deal did not follow legal process.

In a recent interview with Channels Television, former President Olusegun Obasanjo revealed that 2007 a consortium offered $750 million to handle both the Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries. Still, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation rejected the proposal.

Obasanjo also revealed that when contacted to take over the refinery, Shell Petroleum Development Company declined because of worries about corruption that could disrupt operations.

Falana noted in a statement made on Friday that the sale needed to be reversed to rectify legal and ethical infractions and defend Nigeria's national interests.

He stated that, under the Privatisation and Commercialisation Act, the Vice President chairs the National Council on Privatisation, which oversees the privatization of public firms.

On the other hand, Obasanjo allegedly sidelined then-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and handled many privatization transactions directly.


Falana further alleged that Bluestar Oil, the consortium involved in the refinery purchase, consisted of Dangote Oil, Zenon Oil, and Transcorp. He also indicated that Obasanjo purchased significant shares in Transcorp through "blind trust," raising concerns about the legality and morality of the deals, many of which took place in the final days of his government.

Falana recounted how, on May 17, 2007, Obasanjo sold a 51% share in the Port Harcourt Refinery to Bluestar Oil for $561 million. Similarly, on May 28, 2007, Bluestar purchased 51% of the Kaduna Refinery for $160 million.

These sales drew widespread criticism from key stakeholders, including the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), who claimed the transactions undervalued the refineries and violated due process.

For example, they stated that the $561 million paid for the Port Harcourt refinery was significantly less than its value of $5 billion.

In June 2007, the unions went on a four-day strike, severely weakening the economy and demanding an investigation into the arrangements.

The federal government assured them that the transactions would be scrutinised. President Yar'Adua then reversed the privatisation of both refineries.

Falana emphasised that the sale reversal was never legally contested because it breached the Privatisation and Commercialisation Act. He concluded that the unions' influence and Yar'Adua's decision helped to protect the national interest.

A Zambian police officer has been nabbed for reportedly releasing over a dozen prisoners to celebrate New Year's Eve after becoming intoxicated.

The 13 prisoners were detained near Kanyama, in the country's south, on charges of assault, affray, and theft.

Detective Inspector Titus Phiri "forcibly seized cell keys" on Tuesday morning while "intoxicated," according to a news release from Zambia's Police Service on Wednesday, January 1.

"Subsequently, (Phiri) unlocked both the male and female cells and instructed the suspects to leave, stating they were free to cross over into the New Year," according to a police announcement.

Detective Inspector Titus Phiri "forcibly seized cell keys" on Tuesday morning while "intoxicated," according to a news release from Zambia's Police Service on Wednesday, January 1.

A search has been initiated for 13 detainees who are still at large, according to a police statement.

"The Zambia Police Service reiterates its commitment to upholding law and order and assures the public that decisive action will be taken against any officer found to be abusing their authority or acting contrary to the law," according to the statement.

Sad News: 3-Year-Old Girl K!lled In Tragic Dog Attack On Christmas Visit

In a tragic turn of events, a 3-year-old girl was found dead in Cincinnati two days after Christmas following an alleged dog attack.

FMTBLOG gathered that the Hamilton County Coroner's Office confirmed the identification of the deceased 3-year-old girl, Kingsley Renee Wright, who was brutally attacked and killed while visiting family on December 27, 2024.

"I just woke up, and my daughter is de@d," the 911 caller, Kingsley's father, told authorities, according to audio obtained by local station WXIX. "There's blood everywhere; I'm not sure what occurred. "I don't understand what happened."

After the tragic incident, the caller informed the investigator that his animals were all ''in a cage'' and not loose.

Due to the severity of Kingsley's injuries, Cincinnati Police officers who responded to the call were advised to turn off their body cameras.

"I think we're going to need animal care to respond here to secure two dogs," one officer said in a video acquired by local station WLWT5.

Kingsley's bereaved mother, Gina Smith, told the station that she had no idea her daughter would be exposed to hazardous animals, stating, "I would not have allowed my baby around vicious dogs." "Why should I do that?"

"I just want to know why and how," Smith said in tears.

Cincinnati Animal Care said they were summoned to the home on December 27 to remove three dogs. The animals are housed at the shelter for the legally required 10-day bite quarantine period.

Kingsley's obituary described her as "a happy girl with a beautiful laugh and smile."

"She loved to sing and dance for her family and always saw the positive and bright side of everything around her," the dedication reads.

Kingsley is survived by her mother and brothers, Devin and Bradley.

Ditebogo Frans Gololo, 28, was arrested in Polokwane, Limpopo province, South Africa, after impregnating a 13-year-old girl.

Gololo appeared in Seshego Magistrates' Court on Monday, December 30, 2024, charged with Statutory rape and sexual grooming of a minor.

According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Gololo impregnated the youngster in Seshego Township.

According to sources, the victim and the suspect met in a Seshego shopping complex in January 2024 and began communicating before becoming intimate in May 2024.

The girl only told her aunt about the encounter after experiencing issues. In November 2024, medical testing indicated she was eight months pregnant, giving birth to a baby boy on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.

The police were informed of the event, and the suspect was apprehended by the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

The docket will be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for instructions.

The case was rescheduled for bail application and additional investigation on January 8, 2025, in Seshego Magistrate's Court.

Gololo was ordered to remain in jail.

OG Maco, a Nigerian-American rapper who became popular for his 2014 hit "U Guessed It," died at the age of 32 weeks after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The rapper, born Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., has died, and his family revealed this on social media.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has budgeted ₦6.36 billion in the projected 2025 budget to rebuild and rehabilitate residential accommodations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and his aides.

The 2025 Appropriation Bill allocates ₦5.49 billion for maintaining the Presidential Villa, ₦765 million for renovating the Vice President's residence and guest house, and ₦6.39 million for refurbishing the President's quarters at the State House.

The security quarters, auditorium, gymnasium, and assistant houses will be renovated for ₦49 million, with an extra ₦51 million for modifications to Prescott Barracks, officers' mess, and signal office in Asokoro, Abuja.

The budget allocates ₦87 million for honorariums and sitting allowances for the President and Vice President and ₦127 million for SUVs. The State House budget includes ₦3.66 billion for operational cars and ₦1.09 billion to replace SUVs.

The State House Lagos Liaison Office has budgeted ₦14.72 million for normal maintenance of Dodan Barracks and the Vice President's guest homes in Ikoyi. Additionally, ₦140.10 million is budgeted for renovating and outfitting the State House annexe at Dodan Barracks.

The Federal Government wants to spend ₦1.83 billion on converting seized properties to quarters for the State House. Notably, the EFCC recently reported the recovery of a lot of land in Abuja's Lokogoma district.

The estate spans 150,500 square meters and has 753 duplexes and residential units, making it the commission's largest asset recovery since its inception in 2003. This property was forfeited on December 2, 2024, following a decision by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie.

Soon later, the woman was sent for blood tests, with physicians expecting her hormone levels to drop.

This time, the scan indicated a baby growing in her belly; they could even hear its heartbeat.

The leadership of Agidigbo FM, the radio station in Oyo that advertised the 2024 Children Fun Fair, has reacted after many children allegedly died in a stampede during the funfair.

The station's management stated that it had issued announcements requesting that citizens refrain from crowding the Ibadan Children's Fair venue. However, people kept coming.

Recall that an undisclosed number of people, predominantly children, died on Wednesday, December 18, following a stampede at the funfair held at the Islamic High School in the Bashorun neighborhood of the capital city.

On Tuesday, December 27, Agidigbo FM posted an announcement on Facebook encouraging parents to bring their children.

They stated that Naomi Silekunola, the ex-wife of Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, hosted the dinner.

However, following the sad events at the funfair, Olayinka Abdulwahab, the director of programming at Agidigbo FM, stated that the broadcasting station had just been hired to publicize the event.

The radio station identified the organizer as the WINGS Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that helps women and girls. The event was designed to accommodate 5,000 guests.

Abdulwahab stated that when the station learned that a "mammoth crowd" had assembled at the venue by 5 a.m., it aired statements advising people not to go to the funfair.

"The event's organizers also did everything they could to mitigate the catastrophe by mobilizing security personnel, medical officials, and other appropriate agencies to assist people affected by this unfortunate occurrence.

"This a very sad day for us all; however, we call on the general public to shun the spread of fake news and contact Agidigbo FM for more information."

Pastor Tobi Adegboyega of SPAC Nation opened up about his calling and motivations for setting up his church in a heretical manner.

The preacher, reportedly facing deportation from the UK for alleged fraud, appeared on Channels TV Politics Today on Monday evening, December 16.

When asked how he received his calling to be a pastor, he explained that he grew up as the son of a preacher and began preaching at the age of eight.
