Romance / Re: What Are Your Fears About Marriage ? by Despicableme: 11:59am On Oct 08, 2013
During school days, I had a friend that was always suspicious of his girl each time she traveled out of town and one day had to vent it out to me. my simple response was - each time you suspect your girl you take a step away from her and the farther you move away the more your feelings for her will diminish. I simply concluded, as much as she has not given you a reason to be suspicious then you're living in illusion. At least by my last check, they've been married for about 7 years today and still moving on.

You can't give love when you do not have it and you can't give trust when you don't have it or trust yourself.

There is absolutely nothing like a state of utopia or happily ever after. Those are mere 'Barney' imaginations or I should say Disney Land desires.

Marriage is a union and for there to be a union understanding, maturity, perseverance, compliment, empathy, teamwork, and sincerity, trust etc are the needed ingredients for a lasting union. Therefore, if your are devoid of these qualities, then better not be in a union.

Politics / Re: Plane Crash In Lagos At Airport Road MMIA Near Toll Gate by Despicableme: 12:50pm On Oct 03, 2013
Again this calls for a total overhauling of our aviation management system. Just as our politicians do not learn from the failures of others, that is the same way most public servants in very sensitive positions do not pay attention to details. It reminds me of my last flight out of Heathrow. just after boarding, there was an announcement that a leakage was observed and we were transferred to another plane an hour later but to my dismay fellow Nigerians in the flight were so infuriated by the announcement, ranting, swearing and some even threatened to sue the airline laughably for observing that there was a leakage, delayed by an hour and transferred to a safer plane for a safe flight.

Lessons learnt were as follows;

Nigerians are always in a hurry
Safety comes last in all we do
We are more reactive than proactive
We are good at making assumptions. Would have appreciated if the plane had taken off after all it was just a leakage and perhaps a minor fault
Oyinbos are too detailed and we don't need that after all germs no dey kill black man. Obviously, that plane was observed and checked even at the last minute to be guaranteed 100% and nothing less.

On the late Agagu's case - Should a proper investigation be conducted trust me holes and obvious case of negligence would be established. One should not be surprised that the plane was granted immediate approval to take off since it was carrying VIPs without the necessary checks.

Though belated, but did any one bother to find out the age of the plane, last service date, pilot's experience (flight time) etc.

I applaud FGN for renovating the infrastructures in our airports but the aspect of human reassessment and development undermines the beauty and efforts made. Perhaps, FGN should also consider reducing the number of airline operators in Nigeria for better management and also insist that pending maturity, all operators must align with a globally certified foreign partner for technical support. Without doubt, this may exist in black and white but monitoring and implementation remains the number 1 challenge. Just as we buy brand new cars and prefer to service them with road side 'technicians' to avoid cost, that is the same way some of the airlines lease their planes from legitimate sources and go for cheap service providers when it comes to maintenance to reduce maintenance cost.

Also, do not be surprised FGN in their usual manner will suspend the operator, and put an age band for private jets or charter flight service operators but would that also handle the issue of checks and maintenance? obviously not.

My sincere condolences to the victims families. This of course is another national tragedy.

Politics / Re: Rivers State VS Rwanda: Why Amaechi Should Is An Underachiever by Despicableme: 11:33am On Sep 25, 2013
The bottom line - the whole case of performance and nonperformance is very simple - Amaechi wants jonathan out so that he can play a second fiddle to Lamido i.e. Dog eat dog matter or a Kettle calling a pot black.
I am not aware of any policy statement from Amaechi and his team on how to save Nigeria and Nigerians since they love us more. He is going to serve sorry govern for 8 years and may be as a VP for another 8. So it's a case of personal interest above our needs and peaceful coexistence. In the south we're all periwinkles every one has a cap. Just like it was difficult for the igbos to have a senate leader or party leader that was allowed to serve a full term, that has now been extended to presidency because we all want to lead and not follow.
Unfortunately, we have been so engrossed we forgot to ask how do the Westerners and Northerners do it such that their leaders serve up their full term without being edged out or sacked by their people. Bitter as the truth may seem, we will never ever have a government of national unity where the various ethnic groups or regions will abandon their individual and regional interests for national interest and this Amaechi is oblivious of or blinded by the wash-wash promises from the northern cabal. He just made himself a pawn on the board and as a veritable tool for use by the North to serve their obstensible 'nationalistic' interest.
Have we asked for how long will the proposed saviours of Nigeria rule, if Amaechi and Lamido became governors through a process that was without flaws, will they ever conduct a free and fair elections when they become President and vice? If they could not manage 1 talent how will they manage 10 talents? Are the processes of awarding contracts in Amaechi and Lamido states ever been transparent and in line with expected procurement standards. What's the pedigree of the New PDP members? Guys this is just a divide and rule tactics so let's not be fooled. Kindly abandon your emotional strikes and focus on the objectives. The ploy is simple Jonathan out Amaechi in under the watchful eye of the north whose 'birth right' is to rule Nigeria for 'ever' but of course Amaechi and his cohorts will always support this hidden agenda cos at that point they'll be eating at the national level and maybe then we will start another nairaland thread on Lamido/Amaechi vs Perhaps Rejuvenated PDP then

The comparison made by our good friend was an excellent presentation and should be debated upon professionally and without emotions. It's quite laughable and fallible that people are posting pictures of presumably 'developed' Port Harcourt and not Rivers State. Trust the comparison is between Rivers State and Rwanda and NOT Kigali and Port Harcourt.

For anyone that has stayed in Rivers State for over a year one need not even compare the rate of development as it is quite obvious that Rwanda has done excellently well. Need not emphasize that this is also a country that is divided along tribes and constantly faced with security challenges just like Nigeria and any other African country.

Ameachi obviously would agree that he is far behind schedule and should sheath his personal interest for a national interest.

Politics / Re: Text And Meaning Of Patrick Obahiagbon's Discussion On Rivers Crisis - By Sowore by Despicableme: 11:40am On Aug 06, 2013
My concern is why was he so focused on the camera than the presenters and other guests?. His body language was all about arrogance and self pride. Invariably he was not talking to or speaking for ordinary Nigerians which he claims to represent but to his fellow mobocrats, kakitocrats and plutocrats and may be is his own world planetocrats or perhaps villagecrats tongue.

Funny and pressure easing as it may seem. He should learn as much as possible to stay in line knowing he is a representative of a certain group of people and not make clown of them for voting him in the first place.
Family / Re: Should Husbands Hide Money From Their Wives? by Despicableme: 4:10pm On Jul 18, 2013
This is quite a tricky and the answer only depends on the nature of the parties involved in the marriage because they know where it pinches. Some men are spendrift/financially irresponsible and some women alike and if one with such then caution in terms of financial openess is highly advised. However, honesty and trust should be the foundation of any marriage and only when that is broken or betrayed that the parties involved should apply caution or for sake of 'peace' go their seperate ways and must be done in the presence of all those that witnessed the unification of the marriage and exchange of vows.
Foreign Affairs / Re: British Soldier Beheaded In Woolwich, London by Despicableme: 12:08pm On May 23, 2013
Of course you should know they will never take responsibility as long as you are not a Briton by origin. That is why blacks a referred to as ''British born of African descent'' or ''African American'' or a ''British passport holder'' all to let you know you are not a true blood. Britain today has home grown terrorist groups converting not just immigrants but their own children to radicals. Just like Iran does not believe Israel exist, Muslims have the view that other religion need not exist side by side with theirs. They are intolerable to other religion except they migrate to other places and as soon as they gather momentum in those places they launch their campaign of conversion and occupation. North Africa, Central Africa and now Europe and even Americas are typical examples. As stated in my earlier submission, these nations have themselves to blame for not learning from what happened in Africa regarding their episode of religious invasion. You can take a Qur'an to the Vatican and no one will ask you why but you can not take a bible into Maldives because it is sacrilege to their religion Islam. Nigerians or Africans what matters is where the conversion took place as a result of the loopholes created by their systems. Well this fight is for everyone one of us that believe in peaceful coexistence of all mankind and not just theirs cos it could happen in your neighborhood tomorrow. We must all look out for people with suspicious character and report them immediately to the authorities.
