The problem lies in your first statement. You hated yourself right from the onset? Why? You are chubby or slim, you are short? Which? You first have to love yourself from within. You can't give what you don't have. Self esteem is like giving out your love to others in a way that shows you are confident. Its different from pride which carries this hate factor. How then do you give out the love that you don't have. Pls concenterate on your good sides. Love yourself from within first, and watch your esteem grow.

eight good years? that is a very terrible experience. I remember when my parents didn't show up for a visiting day, it was war o. Even when they came, I still cried whenever they were about to leave. How do you then explain eight years of non contact?
the fathers excuse doesn't hold any water. even if you were broke, he couldn't still go to check them once in a while? At least to greet them with say a loaf of bread?
I dunno what to say to a mother that left many kids with her hubby without trying to reach for them in eight good years if she's been alive.
