It seems rabbitry is becoming popular In Nigeria thus making rabbits price higher than usual..
Rabbitry is a booming business if you know how to play your cards well. They're also great pets. All kids love rabbits Cause they don't usually see them frequently as dogs so they enjoy every moment with them..

A buck(male) can serve more than 5 does(females) in a day!.
Take note of the following though:
1. Mate them early in the morning before 8am or late at night. Never mate in the hot part of the day.

2. Deworm your buck and doe regularly (I do mine 2x a month). You can go for the inorganic dewormers or organic (scent leaves, bitter leaves and pawpaw leaves)

3. If your buck is lazy, get kolanut, ginger, garlic. Chop them in small pieces, soak for 5 days and give the buck 5mls (remove the needle in a syringe) daily for 3 days. For effective results tho, I usually add more kolanut.

4. If you won't mind, you can send a message to my mail. I'd be glad to help you along in your journey.

I just found out the buck is a lazy one. He finds it hard to mate with a female at first I thought he was shy because he's just getting used to the environment buh after some days he crossed my friends female rabbit after 1 successful fall I was glad he was coming back to normal.
I didn't know he can only mate once a week

My New Zealand buck

Sorry for late updates it's been a stressful month.
So I got a matured chinchilla doe , and a male new Zealand white.
I crossed the chinchilla with an American sable. Would be expecting good pups from those combo.
She's expected to litter by month end..

Yes I turn them 3 times a ay, that's why I marked the eggs to know where I turn, I did not see any told sir, candling in the fourth day and I saw those red veins that look like cobwebs, though eggs have been layed more than a week ago, perhaps the place I kept them may be warm before I start incubating. I plan to get a thermometer in the future

.... I dont think those eggs are still ok. You will need to discard or eat them up. Cause Eggs kept for more than 7 days loses its fertility and wont hatch. So you need to make sure they are fresh eggs..

Good job. But theres more to incubating eggs than just keeping them warm.(1) are you prepared to turn the eggs three to five times daily? (2)and Where is your heat source? (3)You need to maintain a steady 37-40 degrees celcius and 100 degrees f . You definately need a thermometre if you want to pull this off..and lastly,maybe its the yoke you saw. you wont see anything if you candle eggs at day 4. Chicks start forming at day 7.

I noticed there are different threads for dogs, cats,poultry,even parrot owner have a good thread but the only good rabbit farmers thread are the ones from olden days.(2014,2016,2017) .
. 2023/2024 rabbits farmers should come together and share their knowlede and experience to others.
As time goes on, i'll be droping updates and pics of my small scale farm..
