Back to the discourse, can you imagine what will happen to all the farmlands in Badagry if commercial quantities of oil is found or the impact on Lekki free trade zone when Dangote refinery is up and running? The whole area would change to provide ancillary services to the predominant trade (Apapa is clear case study).

as long as all is handled well there should be no problem(highly unlikely), I Dnt Knw much about lekki free trade zone, but I can tell u that badagry would become a barren wasteland, the govt has proven time and again that they cannot and do not want to be responsible for any side effects of oil exploration. The ND speaks for itself. But while businesses will be forced to close, others will arise, like u said, to feed the predominant trade.

At the end though we must look at what benefits the country the most. Should the farmlands and trade zones be sacrificed for oil? Probably not, but if it bring about an increase in d general wellbeing of the nation in the long run, then the indigenous ppl there should accept compensation and move on.
