No Refinedbeing: So theirs Oja Oba in Benin too? Is it also located beside the Kings’ palace?
The major way to ascertain a Yoruba town/settlement is that the Oja obas are always beside the Kings palace and that’s mostly the city centre. Every other parts are built surrounding both.
Not insinuating Benin is a Yorubaland by the way. Just asking out of curiosity and saying so others can learn. Before nko? only they don't want to accept the truth. Those who knows them believe Benin is a Yorubaland. I remember during Chief obafemi awolowo demise, Benin people were highly represented. Oba was quoted as saying Yoruba came from benin, whereas history had it that all Yorubas are from ile ife.One of oranmiyan daughters is the founder of benin till today. |

Gotocourt: “The Nigerian state is so useless that at one time, an Assistant Commissioner of Police was murdered by a Fulani terrorist.
“The terrorist removed the uniform of the murdered senior police officer, wore it and sat on the table with the government at a peace negotiation.
“It is the impunity that has extended to the Fulanis that has made it impossible to deal decisively with the madness that has overtaken us.” That's why Nigeria is designated as a country of particular attention by United States. What further witnesses?
You see this very action is one of the reasons President Trump's government is interested in Nigeria 📌💯 |

Romance › Re: Help! My Experience With Church Girl I Wanted To Marry by Desusi: 12:19am On May 21 |
Dreal1247: Of course, the girl wants to be on a safe side. Also, purpose before marriage. She wants to look before she leaps. Woman wants a man who can be a true leader. Her questions are not bad. Many people just jump into relationship without being intentional and purposeful. The only time a woman can effectively ask certain questions is before she gets herself fully committed to a relationship. Some have committed themselves only to discover later that it is a one-chance vehicle that she has boarded. Exactly bro, marriage is a lifestime business and no one would want to do business and fail, for this reason she must dig deep before she leap. She must be a well disciplined girl, very intelligent.Except you're not in the same page with her, those requests cannot be answered by you,no matter how you pretend. Therefore,if you're a serious Christian and active worker in a living church, the requests would be tackled by the holy ghost. My advice to you is that if you're not born again as a Christian, just don't go ahead with her, except you're looking for a troubled marriage in future because it takes two to tango and a relationship built on fake foundation is bound to collapse.Otherwise,we will be here to tackle your relationship issues how she wouldn't cooperate with you and how she always withdraw to her shell and wouldn't communicate with you on issues.Like you said, she is a church girl, not worldly girl, she's destined to be different.Goodluck |
Food › Re: Understanding The Difference Between Grasscutter And Rats by Desusi: 6:24pm On May 20 |
Mrchippychappy: I saw a thread here https://www.nairaland.com/8673699/how-ended-sunday-bush-meat and I want to set the record straight on this matter.
In Igbo land, Grasscutter is what we refer to as Bushmeat (see first and second picture below), however some Nigerians don't seem to understand the difference between bushmeat and the typical gutter rat.
Please see the pictures below, Notice the rounded head, short ear and short mouth on the grasscutter? compare that to the long mouth, long tail, long and slender long body of the gutter rat (Third picture below)
The Grasscutter is herbivorous and can be found in the bushes and forest , while the Gutter rat eats anything and can be found in the gutter eating excrement, cockroaches, dirt. It is not fit for human consumption.
This habit of catching gutter rats, killing them and trying to pass them off as bushmeat is making Nigerians look bad, the average foreigner visiting Nairaland would assume that Nigerians eat rats.
Its not a good look There's a different between gutter rat and normal rat that lives in a well digged hole, on its own accord. The common gutter rats are the one you just described. As the name implies they live in the gutter. This one is different from normal rat, which lives in a hole From your description its called Okete in western Nigeria |

Hi Stephen0mozzy: Forget legal action jare. If ywant to stay in the house, just go and talk to him man to man.
That something is right, doesn't mean that the way we ask it is proper - you have said you "demanded", I hope you didn't use the same "attitude" that the word implied?
Anyways, while it's not right, landlords often see themselves as the Lord of the Land on which their house was built - this is a lesson, don't try to be a hero if you can't lead others to join you in doing compound thing.
If you even go to court, the landlord can say he gave you the quit notice because, having considered that the house not having light will be an inconvenience to you, he has decided to terminate your tenancy agreement so you can get a proper house that meets your demand.
Wisdom is always profitable to direct - Landlord wey hold beef with full street naim you think say intimidation by few tenants will faze? You guys could have asked for a general meeting with him and sweet talk him into paying the dues, even if it means contributing small small to assist.
Them nor dey scratch brokos the way e take itch. You're a Star.Of what brand are you in Nigeria? North east or west,l owe you a bottle of wine 🍷 Not many people have this knowledge, many see landlords as the second to Olodumare who has everything available to him at all times. They forget that he is human too who can owes debts |

[quote author=bentenny post=139463794]I was thinking you were about to say something plausible but alas you just confirmed you are part of the problem of this country! In case you are not aware, the bandits and terrorists are fully on ground in every state esp the LGAs which is easy to enter!
I call out religious leaders because in 2014,their voices were louder than the people as some notable men of God did protests to the then president GEJ....Today, insecurity is far worse than what was encountered in 2014....and religious leaders are now quiet!
They are instead asking the congregation to fast and pray instead of calling out the president like they did to GEJ! I ask what is different now than 2014?[/quote If you always do things in the same way, you're bound to get same results, there are different approaches to issues, peradventure that was how God directed them under the circumstances. As long as we are too tribal conscious on national issues, things wouldn't work for the nation. |

bentenny: I laugh when the military claim terrorists are not in every state in Nigeria!
News flash....they are everywhere! They are only waiting for the right time to strike!
Kwara state used to be very peaceful but today, bandits and terrorists have sacked some people from their communities!
Lagos is only a matter of time! Maybe when bandits visit a big church or mosque in Lagos state, that's when some revered clergymen will start talking. If this is your desire for the state, the bandits are gradually heading to destruction and point of no return. I wonder why religious institutions are your targets after All that have been happenings, you think God is asleep. Let God arise and all His enemies, including all that are advocating for evils be crushed and destroyed. |

No doubt, the food is delicious, but I've only had bad experiences with them... Each time I eat them, I have this tendency of either getting a bad runny stomach or heartburn... My mother then once said something that made me to entirely stop eating them, she told me how some of those local street restaurants use good luck charms to be attracting customers and that my body is probably resisting them.
