That is 12 hours a day 6pm /7pm to 6am/7am = 36hours a week. Is there any Naija nurse that works 36 hours only a week in America? I sincerely doubt... they are mostly overtime bugs EXCEPT they already health challenges like high blood pressure that is when they slow down to do only 36 hours and what makes nursing attractive is the OVERNIGHT/ OVERTIME.... my ex was an RN and my neighbor and church member both husband and wife are RN so there is no secret in nursing I don’t know

dear OP please and please go for what your heart desire to do,though your parent might have good reason and far foresight concerning yoir future career but trust me you might regret it later.

for example when I was looking for admission I have always wanted to study computer science and engineer simply because I love anything tech but because I am the only son of my parent who is a science student they push,fight that I should go and study medicine or nursing in school the course which I dont like at all but at the end due to my jamb result then I was giving anatomy and I continued with it they were happy that one of there son is in medical line at least. its was after graduation from uni I discovered or let me say they discovered that study anatomy in nigeria was a total waste of time and money couple with I grad with poor result,since grad from uni now I can't even land any reasonable job even ordinary teaching job coz the employer be like you cant even teach our level of biology cos majority of secondary school biology is about plants, I'm just stagnant now cos I don't even know what to do with my life now it was after grad I discovered that there re so many courses we study in Nigeria universities that have no prospect at all especially with first degree, what about people that have no capability to further there education after the first degree to masters and PhD?. so please dear OP think very wisely,you can show your parent this message maybe it 'll give them second thought to let you go for your dream course.

You can still do computing and tech stuffs. Register for certification programms d and learn free stuffs online

My dear if you’re really traveling abroad after the nursing degree (specifically USA because I don’t know about other countries)
Don’t let anyone play with your destiny. Just quietly go and study the nursing they are pleading with you to do.

You won’t get a job the moment you land in America. You will have to pass the nclex first. for some folks trained outside the USA, it takes a while for them to pass it but we Nigerians are hardworking and I’m sure you will make it. and then the job will be coming for you.

And the money is NICE. that’s all I can tell you.

Please go for nursing... If you then travel out to America,then you have it jackpot. Registered Nurses are in high demand in the U.S. you can then go for your Masters in Nursing to specialise in a particular field. Then later a P.h.D in nursing... Nurse Anastestics are the highest earning Nurses in America. I know of a Nurse Anastetics that earns up to $190k a year in San Francisco, some earn more than that. Please go for nursing, good luck.
