WilliamXi: PMP and HSSE are like oil and water...they can only mix inside a pot of soup. It is a "desirable to have" for a Safety Professional but a "Must have" for a Project Manager or Planner/Planning Engineer. And if you have both, well Adukpe lowo Jesu. thanks bro. I comprehend your suggestion. I guess,I need to start with PMP first for my pocket safety and then graduate to the other side |
Career › Re: Any HSE Professionals In The House? by Dgaffer(m): 11:46am On Jul 11, 2016 |
Gentleme1: Hi MikeSPIRIT,
Like I commented in an earlier post, there are lots of misleading posts and people should be careful how they make comments so we do not confuse people. For the records I did my training with Novelle in June,2014 and today I work with OGFZA (Oil and Gas free zone Onne) and I'll recommend them everywhere.
Here are few things you should know:
1. Novelle is a training company approved by centres like NEBOSH, BISO, ISPON, BPMA, PECB, IRCA, GTACS to offer professional training skills in Health and safety. Approvals like the above imply that such centres are big. We are talking about approvals that take as much as N3million and above to get.
2. When I did my training in Novelle, we were trained with UK and Nigeria curriculum which gives you an edge over others, because most companies in Nigeria operate with British Standards (otherwise known as BS Codes) and they respect and employ you when they know you have something bigger than the average safety practitioner in Nigeria. I dont wish to blow my whistle, but the training I got was one of the reason I easily bagged my appointment with OGFZA Onne.
3. ISPON even recognises Novelle as a training company. Any company recognised and approved by ISPON to training is big. Lets leave too much talk, simple!
4. It was during my training at Novelle Centre that I learnt that safety has six levels (Level 1, level 2, level 3, level 5, level 6, and level 8. . Level 1 gives you background knowledge in safety, level 2 is a practical level, you will be required by Novelle to do a site visit to pass this level, level 3 deals on first aid, fire safety and environmental management, level 5 is NEBOSH preliminary, level 6 is Nebosh IGC which is equivalent to OND according to scottish Vocational qualification and finally Level 8 is Nebosh diploma which is equivalent to BSc.
With a Nebosh diploma you can go on straight to do your masters in any UK university. Check for yourself: https://www.nebosh.org.uk/students/currently_studying/default.asp?cref=813&ct=2
All Novelle HSE courses and certificates are straight from United Kingdom and their HSE level 1-3 makes you eligible for Nebosh instantly. Finally, I have 2 friends working with Lagos state ministry of Environment with the UK HSE certificate from novelle, so my brother shine your eyes and leave sentiments. For me, I'd prefer to run a course that is recognised inside and outside Nigeria.
Also, I learnt that Novelle now pays for international student membership with the UK HSE body to students who complete their course and write the exam for FREE.
Finally, I'll advise you to run your HSE with a centre that will give you examination after training like Novelle, not a place that just dash certificates to everyone who attend the 4 or 5days course without exams.
O and sorry did I fail to mention that this company called Novelle won the British International Safety awards 2015. Won the Best HSE training institute in Nigeria 2015 (this award was powered by ISPON Lagos branch and Lagos State Government), won the Total quality awards from BIS Geneva, and just recently won the Queens Achievement Award for health and safety company 2016. I got all these info from their website and facebook page www.facebook.com/NovelleCenter. My guy twale for people weh sabi. abi no be so?
I'll always do FREE Publicity for Novelle my people because they blessed my life. No worry
www.novellecenter.com Bros, thanks so much for the clarification above.. I will like to know which course to do between Project Management program PMP and HSSE..I want to maximize cost .however, I studied Building Technology and a serving corps member with aim to run the program before my service elaps. |

When you come to places like Lagos and onitsha, 78% of the high way traders there na from Ebonyi state and most if them can't bost of good a single room not to talk of best sitter for themselves in these cities and they are not happy either but some of them can make good fortunes in their villages with farming and other agro allied business and live comfortably as well with good peace of mind
I just pray and hope that the present administration will stumble upon what Sam Egwu saw during his spell as Governor when he attend Governors' conference in Abuja that made him reduce the tution fee for their state uni and also pay bursaries to every indegenious student of the state so as to encourage them and strengthen their parents as well |

NgeneUkwenu: Na PDP Governor? My dear, it's not abiut the political party dear but the retardness and naivety of my people's reasoning is the big ish seriously It's just during Sam Egwu era dat some started paving ways in academic pursuits But i still see future with the present administration considering the phobia of Buhari's anti corruption program will foster seriousness in them |

PRXPERT: forget about who will answer! Why not start a hashtag on the hawking palaver! One of the moset influential female bloggers in nigeria is from ebonyi! You can start something maybe on twitter!! I see opportunities in every nook and cranny of ebonyi state! They have minerals in abundant, they are sitting on shale rock! They have water flowing from left to right! They are not worried of erosion, the shale rock, give them a lot of stability on foundation while building a house! So tell me? What are they asking for? Bro one of the probs there os naivety and most if our influencial peeps there are corrupt and greedy.. It's there dat you will see a politician with govt approved designated cash for project.he will use it on his personal project while his people will be suffering It is in my state dat they use Rice and Salt..when i mean rice.i mean a tin Delica of rice with #50 salt and smallest tin tomatoes to lue people to their side and after election. The people are left to die in starvation and with series of diseases like lassa fever etc as some of them see bush rat as their biggest bush meat to their reach #I CRY FOR MY EBONYI PEOPLE |

At op, you're right to some extent. I'm from Akaeze in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi state, i did my Degree program in Ebonyi state Uni but I'm here in Lagos state for my National Service....i must say that the state govt is trying in infrastructural development which is necessary but what abt human development which is essential as most of our Eboyians are hustling in the streets of Lagos and Onitsha with no place to lay head on.. The Govt should reduce the school/tutution fees in their state Unii so as to encourage the indigens to opt out from their minal jobs on Highways. Just as Senator Dr Sam Egwy did duribg his era as Governor..
I believe and know that Ebonyi will be better soonest considering the fast growth it has received so far within it's creation year |

It's so pathetic how some youths denounce their religious believe just to get attention from ymodulus because he once mentioned that he is an atheist... This unemployment needs to be addressed seriously or better still find a way to curb this issue as OBJ said we are sitting in a gun-powder ready to explode with this unemployment rate in Nigeria |
