There are many reasons that lead to the high cost of goods in the Nigerian market, but I'll be talking about just one reason; which is the extinction of the Nigerian currency in the form of coins(e.g 1Naira, 25Kobo) in the physical market (because at least it is still being used in electronic form).
So many countries in the world and here in Africa still make use of coins. Ghana for instance in Africa.
The prices of goods in the Nigerian market are being rounded up to a figure that will fit in the value of the currency we spend in the country (physically). For instance a good that should maybe be sold at the rate of 8Naira would be rounded up to 10Naira because definitely there is no way a person can get the 8Naira physically unless perhaps it is an online shopping platform.
But in a case whereby we have at least 1Naira, one can easily get that figure.
Please in my own opinion I think the Nigerian coins should be brought back in the general market.

I think that if we could use this kind of energy to protest for the long clamour for restructuring or reforming the Nigeria's political system, perhaps we could make our senators look nowhere else but to do that. If Nigeria is restructured now with all the items being advocated in consideration, the problem of SARS would fizzle out and so are other problems facing us. We need to protest against the military constitution we currently operate in guise of democratic one, protest for restructuring and others will fall into place. The structure is the foundational error and any form of revolution must begin from the foundation.

History was made on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 as the Department of Microbiology of the Federal University of Technology, Minna set a new pace in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic with the production of a sterilized brand of facemasks, a first of its kind in Nigeria.
Equally important, 100 units of the special facemasks were also donated to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn. The brief presentation ceremony took place at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus.
Speaking before presenting the items to the Vice-Chancellor, the Head of department, Microbiology, Dr. Nasiru Usman Adabara said the department has a role to play in the prevention and control of micro-organisms which include Covid-19, while stating that the donation of the facemasks was in furtherance of the department’s community service function to the University and the nation at large through the conduct of novel research to address societal problems.
Dr. Adabara disclosed that the department was motivated to undertake the production of the facemasks in order to appreciate the University Management for their support as well as to thank staff who have been working tirelessly since the outbreak of the disease to keep the University moving.
The Head of Department stated that the facemasks were produced locally in the department with value addition through the development of a fumigation chamber to sterilize the facemasks to make it safer for usage, adding that the department has the capacity to embark on mass production of the facemasks for commercial purposes.
He further commended all the staff of the department for being part of the novel production of the facemasks.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Bala expressed appreciation to the department for writing the University's name in gold for another good reason by adding an expert touch to the production of facemasks. He noted that this is the direction that FUT, Minna should follow as a leading university of science and technology in the country.
