ClintonNzedimma: i think i might be able to do that with javascript. It reminds me of a js code i coded that changes the style of a page entirely based on device but am nt sure jscript will be able to do just that like Nairaland sha...php maybe doing the trick for you. But what i know is that i can do something almost as good as Nairaland. But who am i to challenge the best web designer (dhtml18) in Nigeria with wapka?. #Respect to you sir. Ha! This thread is fast turning into WAKPA vs Nairaland I wish you the best bro, php helps to accomplish some of the stunts on Nairaland truly. |

Appswheel: just visited Nairaland on mobile. i like it. simple n beautiful. I love d idea of it bn a platform for sharing ideas, information - thats noble. I like the short, concise introduction on the homepage. I will adopt the information on the homepage of my educational portal www..com to be like it - simple, clear n concise. pls visit knowbase and let me know what you think about it. Thank you very much for liking my Nairaland.com - though it is not yet complete because I am single-handedly working on it and doing client jobs at the same time. That is a very good example of a website that is both responsive and adaptive and works in all browsers even old school browsers like internet explorer 6 |

Naijazoom:
you know very well I can do better than that bro...... Also I'm more of a programmer/Developer so I don't stress if you say I'm not a webmaster, I can code even heaven with wapka with my JavaScript/jQuery/CSS knowledge.... It won't take me 2hours to clone that Nairaland site but I just don't say wow to that type of design.... Also check this wapka sites with Pc when you're less busy Naijazoom.com, Hmtsoft.com and Guruswapaz.net my site Naijazoom had powerful features back in july but I removed em cos of adsense, I'm even working on a notification system on my site where you get notified if user comment or likes your post... I just stopped adding features because of adsense (needed a simple design). I'm going to switch to Sever Side (PHP) next year when I finish my Quest with PHP/MySql... But Naijazoom will remain on wapka... Till when they support Php in future.... I don't brag... My work will speak for me.... When I finish my PHP script... Nairaland is too simple bro maybe you can't do a design like that on your own.... Give me something harder to code... I've even looked it up on my Console and debugged it, no much Js library the owner just know how to design style sheets.. #Peace You have shown your ignorance to the public on frontpage. Are you sure you are talking about www.Nairaland.com that I designed and scripted? You have just showed to the |

I hate wapkamasters, always calling themselves webmasters. Seun should create a section called wakpamasters make we throway them put - as they are not fit to be called webmasters (and never will be). |

VivaLaFrans: Iam a Computer Science student and just wanted to know where all the topics in this forum are being stored. Since it'll last forever, then where are they stored. Google? Err, an interesting question. . . . davidsmith8900: To answer the main title, I'll say that Nairaland has the ability to become a search engine (if the workers were taken it seriously), but I doubt it if they are. Nairaland has the potential to become a rival search engine to Google, but the ogas at the top don't seem to be pushing it or let's just say innovative. As far as where the topics are stored, more than likely in a database. Excellent response as always. |

Khaynet: Nice site u gat Thanks o bro. DualCore1: It lacks arrangement and organisation and one key reason for this is the fact that you have relied so much on tables in placing your elements on the page. With this present design I cannot believe you have developed some of the sites in your portfolio, except they are CMS-based sites, in which case the UI wasn't done by you. On the brighter side of things, I don't think I came up with as much of a website as you have come up with in my first 2 years of web development but I will blame that partly on the fact that the tools we have now didn't exist then. In summary, you have been able to achieve a lot in your 2 years experience and still have a lot of work to do. I will advice you gain some mastery of HTML and CSS while you still do your thing with the CMSes. Err? what happened to your name? |
