Hmn, if we have added this from the start, it would have saved us a lot of trouble - so that professionals will not be competing for 6k.

codeaddict: I'm just trying to clear the air, here. I've been coding for a while, but web's not my thingy. I download'd web2py same day I signed up for this. And 20k's really too small to soil my integrity over.

Let me explain the criteria once and for all. If you are already an experienced programmer in one language before, let us say python, and you now want to compete in PHP which you have never used before, i will not consider you a newbie, because you are simply a veteran migrating.
If you can code well in Python, and you now migrate to PHP today, you are likely to beat people that are just starting programming with PHP as their first programming language (or people who recently started programming and are yet to master it).
Once you have already mastered at least one serious programming language, we shall not call you a newbie anymore.

This is the reason you will observe that whenever a new language comes out, within a short time, you start seeing fantastic applications made in that language (by already established programmers migrating to that new language - and they are veterans and not newbies).


Based on this rather lengthy explanation, I do not see why a professional will want to do this (even if that professional was broke), it is simply unethical, unimaginable, unthinkable, shameful and completely out-of-question for any professional to want to do such a thing (i might be proven wrong mind you).

I have not watched that TV show interestingly enough. But i believe what i said, but that is bordering or pretenatural, which is outside the scope of this thread.

That means you are not controlled by Time,because Time doesn't actually exist. It is only an illusion. There is no future or past, everything we experience is happening now.

Some people say that there are multiple universes existing in parrallel, but for one or two significant events are exactly the same.

KnightOfLaif: Very possible.Travelled back few times but still trying to perfect travelling into the future. Don't ask me how.

Some people (not necessarily witches mind you) are said to be able to travel backward or forward into time without your body (though the physical body will still suffer the side-effects).
Here, we are not talking of such matters, we are talking of on the physical plane here, like me carry an AK-47 in the present time and travel back like 2 centuries back, and take over the world government - yeah, that sort of thing.

Personally, i do believe it is possible, but it has not yet been discovered (or has not yet been made public) - chose one of the two.

codeaddict: I asked you a question on what yardstick you use in determining beginners, on the previous competition's thread. Your reply was vague. So, please answer constructively, this time.

Is there really a need for that question? If it were directed to me i would likely not have answered it. Honesty is part of it, if you are a professional and you are masquerading as a beginner just to win the competition, if the truth comes out eventually (and it usually does) you may not be able to live with yourself.

How to use what? if it is my package (phpbrowserbox), there is a readme file in the package. It is similar to using wamp server, xamp and others.

I am dissapointed because i was expecting something very fantastic and not smf.

When i was telling someone just a few days back that they should not be counting qbasic, fortran as programming languages because they are profitless, there was argument.
Even the Nigerian students themselves, most of them dont research and dont know their left from their right.

It can be compiled to a single EXE if you know how, and yes, it can be made into installable windows softwares if you know how to. But surely, you dont expect me to give all the secrets away for free.
It uses the same platform as my javascript editor which is a single EXE (on my sourceforge account also).

I have resolved to do my tutorials on codecademy due to the nuisance people of nairaland. Believe me, i had a fun time this morning when i posted the version 1 of the tutorial. I shall soon make the version 2 publicly available after i finish editing and publish it.
