Hi everyone, Thank you so much to everyone who offered advice in December! Your help was invaluable in getting my Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) from my line manager in mid-January. Moving forward, I have some questions about proof of English for my Skilled Worker Visa application as a software developer. While I've requested a letter of English proficiency from my university, I'm concerned about the turnaround time. Additionally, I haven't been able to find any upcoming IELTS UKVI test dates near me. With that in mind, I have two questions: 1. Can I use the IELTS UKVI Academic test to meet the English language requirement for my Skilled Worker Visa application? 2. Are there any alternative English language tests accepted for Skilled Worker Visa applications that might have shorter waiting times for appointments? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated! |

florixi: I'm not sure if this will help, but I used the Employer Checking Service to prove my right to work while I was waiting for my visa last year. The only catch is that your potential or current employer is the one who has to initiate the check. Here is the link: https://www.gov.uk/employee-immigration-employment-status 7 Likes 4 Shares |

Hello everyone, I want to share an update on my journey in the UK. In 2022, I faced challenges finding a job after relocating to the UK. I appreciate all the advice I received from you all during that time. After careful consideration, I decided to transition from a career in biotechnology to one in Tech. I chose to pursue software development and dedicated several months to studying it. In October of last year, I successfully landed a job as a developer at a local council. It is a hybrid role with highly flexible hours. I only need to be in the office once a week, which allows me to clock out at any time to handle nursery pickups or grocery shopping. The main drawback is the lack of opportunities for career advancement and the excessive bureaucracy when it comes to simple tasks, such as downloading software. Currently, I'm seeking further guidance and support. Here's where I could use some help. I am in the UK on a dependent visa, and the visa is set to expire in January. Unfortunately, my husband, who has recently completed his PhD in chemical engineering, has been facing challenges in securing employment due to companies requiring prior experience. Endorsement wasn't approved for global talent. I've reached out to my current employer to inquire about the possibility of them sponsoring my visa, and they have mentioned that they will explore this option. However, I'm uncertain about what steps to take next. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. |

tshoboy: Thanks for the detailed info. I wish this info was on their website. Hubby, baby and I travelled from Newcastle to London on appointment day. We were turned back at first. Then, we were told to get £120 postal order because we applied in September 2021. They couldn’t give me a tangible reason other than backlog. Their second option was to return after a week . We had to pay and we got the passport the next week by post. 4 Likes |

Business / Is Storytelling Part Of Your Marketing Strategy? by dhummystecah(f): 9:43pm On Jun 21, 2019 |
Story matters. In fact, the backbone of a strong marketing strategy is a clear communicated story because people prefer investing in a human instead of a company. Have you noticed that most companies don't advertise their products aggressively anymore? They will rather share a story about a person who struggled and overcame challenges. Once customers hear and watch those stories, they become connected to the company. For instance, Dove is constantly releasing campaigns on how all women are beautiful no matter their size, shape or color. When I step into a store for skincare products, you bet I go straight for dove because I connected with their brand story. What is your brand story? How do you boost the happy hormones in your target audience? My brand story is to make technical aspects of business easier for entrepreneurs - ranging from content creation, social media, website management, how-to tutorials and so on. |

sexybbstar:Lemon juice is an acid and will neutralize some of your lye, but you won't know how much. Which is why most refrain from using lemon juice in soap. Did you add carrot puree to soap at trace or as liquid to mix lye? |

12. Galaxy Cycle Swirl: involve seperating thin trace soap batters into 4 containers. Then adding color to each. Pour each colored soap into a large jug at the side one at a time. Finally, pour into the mould. Drizzle some on top on the soap for feather swirl texture.

funmisticqueen: Here is a dimension for a custom made wooden soap mold. I will advise you to use removable screw instead of nails or glue so you can unscrew and easily remove soap after it has solidify. It also make it easy to line your mold with baking paper before pouring the soap into the mold.

funmisticqueen: Salt or sodium lactate is often used in soap making to help soap solidify more. Sugar is used to boost lather of the soap. |

sexybbstar: You can try hot process for the black soap but I have not made it before so can't really help much on that area. The activated charcoal soap is quite easy. You make the soap. Mix till thin trace. Put 1 tablespoonful of activated charcoal into a small bowl. Add 1 tablespoonful of oil (sunflower or olive) to it. Stir well with a fork or whisk. Stir that into the soap batter. Pour into mold. Leave to set for at least 48 hours. Unmold. Leave to cure for 4 weeks or more. What ingredients (oils, butter) do you currently have so I can help you formulate a recipe for the activated charcoal soap? |

sexybbstar:African black soap is actually made by hot process plus pounding. Its a way complicated soap. It is best to buy the bar one. Then you can use it to make liquid soap to use as face wash, shampoo and body wash. The pH of the soap is quite basic that it requires no preservative. An alternative soap that is easy to make is Activated Charcoal Soap. You can make it via hot or cold process. Let me know and I can help with some recipes. |
