I'm sorry, but your argument is rather absurd! It is a secular court, not an anti-religion court. The goal of secularism has never been to eliminate religious expressions. It is to remove any direct influence of religion from state transactions. So, please tell me, how does wearing hijab interfere with state transactions?

How does not wearing Arabic Hijab interfere with state transactions?

Why didn't the same Nigerian constitution permits women in Sharia law practise?

She is not in Rome. She is a Nigerian in Nigeria, where her father's tax, along with the tax of other Muslims, has contributed to the coffers of the Federal government which funds the law school.

Furthermore, the constitution, the study and interpretation of which the same law school purports to call to, grants her the rights and freedom to practise her religion without molestation. This was infringed upon and should be redressed at once. She will never forfeit her hard earned certificate, forget that angle.

Finis. I am not interested in Rome or Romans.

Exactly! She's a Nigerian, not Arab!

If she wants to wear Hijab, let her go to Suadi.

The person in question decided Allah as God for herself. It was her personal choice. No one is forcing you to wear the hijab, nor is anyone dictating to you. If you so strongly believe that you can 'choose to be anything as a Nigerian, then you should afford that right to her as well, also as a Nigerian; who chooses to be a Muslim, and have Allah dictate for her.

The gele is your choice, the hijab is hers. As you were correct in pointing out, neither of you has the right to dictate to the other.

Thank you for your contribution.

But guess what? We're no Arabs! We're Africans, hence our cultural wears should suffice for all disgruntled parties!

Moreover, she agreed to join law institution hence, she's under the rule of such institution! No one forced her to enrol into such organisation.

If you enrolled into a porn academy fully knowing that you will be instructed to act nude and have sex with strangers, then I see no reason why you wouldn't abide by it unless you're senile!

Isn't it funny that Islam permit no formal education for women and banned women from sharia law practise but the question is why is she not contesting against such practise?

I have seen many claims on here that wearing hijab to one's call to bar is against the law, but I have yet to see anybody cite the specific law that is being violated. This is not about Amasa's religion, it's about her secular rights, and in this case, the law school, in spite of its unique position as the nurturer of Nigeria's judicial institution, is evidently the erring party here. The law school should ferociously adhere to, and promote the spirit of Nigeria's constitution, not brazenly violate it, as it has done against this young lady. I'm happy she's brave enough to stand her ground, and I stand with Amasa Firdaus!

Funny enough, islam permit no formal education for women!

Let her go and contest women right to practising sharia law before coming here to spout nonsense.

As for some women that loves covering their head in their call to bar, 'gele' should suffice for them because we're proper africa men, not arabs!

If the Sango worshipers want to fight for their right. It has got nothing to do with us. They can do as they please. Good luck.to them. Practicing the religion appropriately is what matters.

Verse (24:31) - Translation
“...and not display their beauty except what is apparent, and they should place their khumur over their bosoms...

What is the meaning of “khumur” used in this verse?
Khumur خُمُرٌ is plural of khimarخِمَارٌ , the veil covering the head.

Al-Munjid, which is the most popular dictionary in the Arab world, defines al-khimar as “something with which a woman conceals her head —ما تغطى به المرأة رأسها .” Fakhru ’d-Din al-Turayhi in Majma‘u ’l-Bahrayn (which is a dictionary of Qur’anic and hadith terms) defines al-khimar as “scarf, and it is known as such because the head is covered with it.

So the word khimar, by definition, means a piece of cloth that covers the head.

Then what does the clause “placing the khumur over the bosoms” mean?
According to the commentators of the Qur’an, the women of Medina in the pre-Islamic era used to put their khumur over the head with the two ends tucked behind and tied at the back of the neck, in the process exposing their ears and neck. By saying that, “place the khumur over the bosoms,” Almighty Allah ordered the women to let the two ends of their headgear extend onto their bosoms so that they conceal their ears, the neck, and the upper part of the bosom also

We're africans though, not arab!

If your Allah can't allow africa women to put on their cultural garbs before him like he created them to be, then Allah is a partial god, not worthy of africa men!

And if muslim wants a covering on their head in their call to bar, our africa "gele" should suffice for them! Lovely africa culture.

Why do Caribbean people wear it?

Hijab is NOT arab culture but Islamic culture

my point is communicated. Wig used by nigerian lawyer was introduced by the colonial masters, and colonial masters are christians. Hence, wig is euphemism to christianity. For subway, you are just correct which suggests that it is still about constitutional right. Now your point is?

Funny how you say wig is euphemism to christianity. Lol. Wig is actually foreign hairs, not Christianity, those hair could be made from Indian for all we care!

And yeah, I agree that there's no use conforming to any set of colonial rules, be either Arabic or the british! Africa cultures must be back in full force. A very colourful "gele" would suffice for all party.

Sorry, buddy, if you are a women and a lawyer or anyone you know decides to put on gele on thier gown, it is their choice if that makes you comfortable. Gele and hijab are simply headcover with difference in their appearances. A muslim woman decided to wear hijab on her gown, how is that your business?. I am sure 100% if a muslim woman wore gele to the Bar, you would still have something negative to say.

Why are you crying nah?

NBA says no wearing on the head, you and your sister cried.

And I suggested colourful 'gele', a proper africa wear, you still dey cry.. Note that this 'gele' also addresses the Nuns issue!

I repeat, stupid arabic wear will not be allowed in our institution! Cry me an Ocean.
