My 9months Experience As A Naija-based Remote Worker

Hey Queen Poco. It’s your fan girl here again ooo. I got great news. I got a gig. I want to hug you, hold you squeeze you and send you thank you airtime.
P.s the rate is really really low but to be honest I didn’t expect I’ll get anything considering. It’s just a few days and a lot of things are floating on my mind but at least I got verified.
Thank you thank you

Hi Queen Poco! cheesy
It’s your fan-girl again, thank you. I wanted to confirm what means of payment is best.
I intend to use payoneer but can I add the deposit to local bank option to it (because it seems to be highlighted like the obvious choice)

I also want to confirm that to be verified I have to get a job first?

When you started out did you set up a portfolio for the jobs? I’m at a loss for what to put there, I want to put some data work and maybe design work too?

I’ve also seen that in the tax area I’ve been asked to fill W-8BEN tax info before withdrawals?

I’m yet to get hired though, hopefully it would be sooner than later.

hahaha. It's totally fine. I understand, Nigerians can get very annoying when it comes to learning. It'll start looking as if they're purposely trying not to learn. Lol

I’m interested in attending the webinar oo.
I set my profile to 100% immediately. Then I played around with proposals. The proposal is your cover letter and what you send to bid for jobs. I didn’t know a lot and looking back, I submitted to many unverified payment jobs and wrote very bland proposals, but overall, I identified some key issues.

Honestly I’m so glad I found you. You’re inspirational. I moved to Cally where I feel finding a job is so much harder even with my experience.

I’ve been struggling with trying to get a remote job to no avail but seeing your post one another nlander alluded to has inspired to try again.

Your grit is beyond words, you didn’t just write it out you’ve also made the effort to reply everyone with questions without feeling uppity. I’m amazed!

I know I’m fan-girling right now but I can’t help it.
Please what was your first niche?
This new connects I have would they crossover to the next month and add to the new 10connects I’d have? Or do they expire monthly?
The new job you’re working on is it still off up work?

I’ve been YouTubing and consuming videos even though I’m new I really hope to land a job by mid-next month. #fingerscrossed. Hopefully I’ll get to be top rated too.

Please can you highlight what you did differently in your proposal
I’m tired of writing endless proposals with no feedback

Me too I want to know oo, I’m scared of finishing my connects, I will not have money to buy more. I’ve even stayed up middle of the night sending proposals I need help to bag one.
What is your niche? I’m trying tech v.a hoping it would be the easiest to get Sth at the moment.

Wrote the cognitive test, was caught unaware by the request to capture my ID card, do not interact with any screen save the test screen. Got two warnings, one for trying to reconnect when the internet went off, second for turning of my screen timer during the test. The test is fairly easy but you need concentration and speed. I wish I’d make it through though but I’m a year above the required age so I don’t know.

You are nothing but an attention starved perv! Its so sickling that a grown ass man like yourself can stoop way below the ground to seek a 5 minute attention . You claim all shit! But its amazing that those you have tried to slander are doing better, touching lives and making impact while "you whom God has blessed" goes about with a virtual "Please Notice Me" placard around your neck begging for 5 naira attention .
Just this evening man with balls like you testified to being blessed by a female nairaland whom in your warped mind is evil. But here you are trying to bring down a Good woman for sharing something your flaccid balls are too weak to do even though you earn billions every seconds. If i talk say your brain is upside down now, it will be as if i'm rude. Meanwhile its just the truth about how your brain really works.

Yes! we put POCO on the pedestal, As a matter of fact shes the only nairalander that intrigues me on this forum and i respect her for who she is. If that is what is killing you, kindly go hug a working transformer to end your misery. Do that early because that respect and love we have for Poco isn't ending ever!

Dude, the sky is wide enough for all birds to fly.

And the apartheid against your fellow citizens diplayed in your comment is appalling in the very least.

I’m telling you, goes to show how wicked Nigerians are to themselves and people are complaining of racism, I’d rather face racism from a white person than the hate from my fellow blacks.

Other races go abroad before you know, it’s swarmed with their people Nigerians would go and try to block way for others.

Kudos for the write-up. My own journey started in March this year. However, it is a little bit different from yours.

I have a knowledge of these things but nothing worked for me with my Nigerian profile. I understand SEO, can research any topic, and put it down technically, or in a conversational tone..

I submitted 100s of proposals, yet I didn't get 1 invite for an interview.

However, March this year I switched to my sister's profile. She lives in the UK and isn't interested in the platform so I asked her to create and verify an account for me.

I got my first job on the 3rd proposal I sent. Same methods and formats I used for my Nigerian profile is what I used still.

It has been interviews and jobs from then on...

So yes, in some niches, your Nationality won't help you.

Na my own 2 cents be this Sha.....

What is your niche I’m about to register as a tech v.a/data entry/email mgt. I think I already chose Nigeria.

Won’t they later find out you lied?

Religion / Re: Do You Fake Being A Christian As An Atheist In Nigeria? by Didiplay: 1:44am On Aug 16, 2022

A woman who was inviting me to her church became aggressive and almost attacked me when I made my my stand known to her.

She was livid that anyone alive can have atheistic view about God.

She started seeing me as the devil. grin

When she sees me she will make noise and act all sorts of drama.

At a point my friend asked her , is this the way Jesus will touch this person's life with the way you are going ? She became ashamed.

Came back , spoke to me. I smiled

She said she's afraid devil will enter her through me. grin

I started laughing and asked so the devil is more powerful than your God ?

She said it's not like that.

I said you people need to market Jesus better grin

Religion makes people aggressive.

Most Muslims and Christians are aggressive and emotional about their faith

So it's better you keep to your lane.

But funny enough they're the ones that won't allow you rest.

Always harassing you with questions about why you don't attend church or mosque.

Inviting you to programs when you are minding your business.

For me , I don't discuss such matters with people anymore but my friends know who I am .

To avoid being harmed or victimized just use sense.
