FoodDieting Can Be Easier Than You Think With These Things In Place. Find Out Now! by diet234(op): 11:16pm On Mar 05, 2015
As most of us already know that dieting can be not only expensive but, it can be an ULTIMATE CHALLENGE especially, when you don’t know how to eat well even on a low budget in the first place. It is no wonder why most people even though want to eat healthy and adequately (dieting) are turned away from it, making unsatisfactory remarks like “it’s not “good” to measure your food or count what you are eating”, some even go on to say it is “religiously” wrong. What?…for real??!…imagine!

Well, to our food enthusiasts and I mean the general public (our readers), dieting is a beautiful and healthy eating lifestyle. Dieting is defined as the restriction of oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food for cosmetic (weight loss) or medical reasons (as in therapeutic diets).

The following will enable your dieting easy and proper, see more here: http://diet234.com/things-that-makes-dieting-easier/

FoodDo You Know the Importance of a Vegetarian Diet and How it Gives Better Health? by diet234(op): 1:56pm On Feb 23, 2015
A vegetarian diet focuses on plants for food (most times strictly). These include fruits, vegetables, dried beans and peas, grains, seeds and nuts. There is no single type of vegetarian diet.

But before I go on and on, believe me I know this is quite a difficult diet to follow especially for a Nigerian (we too love meat). Our love for meat is well played out when you see a Nigerian at a social function like weddings etc. or at a food sale stand (bukka). They have 70% assorted meat on the plate and 30% whatever else (LOL).

Well, it is important to know that people who follow vegetarian diets can get all the nutrients they need.

FoodKiwifruit Has Key Nutrients For Great Health. Find Out Here! by diet234(op): 2:54pm On Feb 19, 2015
Amazing and yet strange looking Kiwifruits doesn’t seem to get much pick offs from the shelf at Shoprite and most other local grocery stores. It’s no wonder why, because it looks quite strange having a hairy outer covering like a yam tuber and when cut open it looks like the green version of something in between an avocado, a water melon and an orange all in one.

The kiwifruit is a small fruit approximately 3 inches long and weighing about four ounces. Its green flesh is almost creamy in consistency with an invigorating taste reminiscent of strawberries, melons and bananas, yet with its own unique sweet flavor.

FoodThe African Breadfruit Meal (ukwa) Is Highly Nutritious And Sweet No Be Small O! by diet234(op): 4:47pm On Feb 12, 2015
The African Breadfruit is scientifically known as Treculia africana. Now let's know what's up with this nutritious food.

Introduction:
It is also called afon in Yoruba; ize in Benin, Jekri and Sobo; izea in Ijaw; and ediang in Efik. Ukwa as is known by the Igbo speaking tribe of Nigeria is the seed of the African Breadfruit "Treculia Africana", though it's similar to the Breadfruit eaten in the Caribbean and South Pacific, but still quite different. The African counter part is much larger growing as large as watermelons and weighing 10 pounds or more. Also it is not sought after for its "meat" i.e the fleshy bulk but rather for its seeds.

To extract the seeds from the fruit, the fruits are allowed to ripen and fall from the large trees in which they grow on. Surprisingly, the fruits are then allowed to rot, and machetes are used to crack open the fruit or sometimes the fruit is even thrown on large rocks (if patience is a problem LOL). There is a long lengthy process before the seeds that are eaten are fully extracted. The seeds are typically roasted and eaten or can be boiled to soften them making a sort of porridge.

The African Breadfruit is a very healthy food which has been touted as "food to end the World's Hunger".

FoodThe Health Benefits Of Drinking Wine by diet234(op): 7:41pm On Jan 30, 2015
Did you know...
Women have less body water than men and hence retain a higher blood-alcohol concentration than men from a single drink. Hence, they tend to get "higher" when they drink.

An empty stomach speeds up alcohol absorption. Food slows absorption rates in men and women. Hence, people who have lots of fat hardly get as drunk as lanky people.

And that,...champagne and sparkling wine can improve memory and slow aging?

FoodDo NOT Throw Away The Eggshells Again! by diet234(op): 7:29pm On Jan 26, 2015
As you already know, eggs are a very common staple food in Nigeria and the world at large. The fact that it is a primary condiment in the making of most of our confections (confectioneries) and snack foods is further proof of it’s high consumption.

It is no doubt a very necessary appetizer prior to main course meals, it is tasty whichever way you choose to serve it; whether as fried eggs (my best), boiled eggs, baked or as omelets and many more. It is a high protein and fatty food, hence most hypertensive as advised to consume minimally due to the danger of building up fat sedimentation in blood vessels.

Well, I wanted to leave out all the juiciness and tastiness of the wholesome part of the egg and talk about “he who is usually neglected” – the eggshell. The eggshell has got to get some credit! It’s about time we get more acquainted with its awesome role and benefits asides that it keeps the wholesome part protected.

Eggshells present healthy, balanced calcium due to trace amounts of other minerals contained in it. Eggshell calcium is probably the best natural source of calcium, and it is easier for your body to digest and absorb.

HealthAnorexia Nervosa And Dietary Management by diet234(op): 1:24pm On Jan 16, 2015
Anorexia nervosa (say "an-uh-RECK-see-uh nur-VOH-suh"wink is a type of eating disorder. People who have anorexia have an intense fear of gaining weight. They severely limit the amount of food they eat and can become dangerously thin as in appearing very lekpa (as most Nigerians would say).
What is Anorexia Nervosa?

According to the National Health Service UK (NHS), Anorexia nervosa is a serious mental health condition. It is an eating disorder in which people keep their body weight as low as possible.
Anorexia affects both the body and the mind. It may start as dieting, but it gets out of control. You think about food, dieting, and weight all the time, more like an "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder" (OCD) to stay skinny. You have a distorted body image. Other people say you are too thin, but when you look in the mirror, you see your body as overweight.

FoodSay NO To Food Abuse In The New Year by diet234(op): 3:21pm On Jan 12, 2015
It’s barely two weeks into the New Year and we have commenced full swing with work at Diet234. I and everyone (team members and contributors) at Diet234 would like to extend new year greetings to our esteemed readers and clients. We love you all so much.

If there is one new year resolution that should still remain in place even when you get bored and morally weak as the 365 days roll by (you know what I mean), it should be your decision to eat right and strictly shun attempts to indulge in any kind of food abuse. Make sure to eat clean and adequately at all times. Food abuse is wrong on so many levels. I am sure you don’t want to start of the year toasting to wrong doings so, fall in line and say No to food abuse.

Use of food in Nigeria and most other countries
Recent trends regarding the use of food has shown that most people have pictured food as a sacrifice to appease a certain “god” known as “Hunger”. This we believe, has been due to the fact that substantial awareness has not been accorded to nutrition education at various societal levels/units.

Food should be Nature’s Pharmacy... find out what we mean here - http://diet234.com/food-abuse/ and Say NO to food abuse.
