Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Which Way Nlng? by digerati(m): 3:34pm On Jul 07, 2010
Hi everyone, I must say that this is the deepest and most admirable thread I've ever come across. I also did the test back then in 2007 but didn't go beyond the first stage. Great stuff guys.

I'll need help from anyone in the house (esp. the successful candidates or any other person with info), cos I applied for an experienced position and just did the first stage (SHL test). Was wondering if anyone could advice on what to expect for the interview stage (well I think that would be the next stage). I'm thinking it may be more of the core technical stuff rather than the Assessment Centre used for the entry-level.

Appreciate your helpful response (Keno, biolagee, opoks, everyone!)

Am thrilled that the journalists could give him a platform to speak, wasn't Dele Giwa one of them.  Talk of forgiveness
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by digerati(m): 2:22pm On Apr 08, 2010
@ tjcrown, you are not alone. smiley Got the same e-mail. I know the wait is nerve racking but I think it's good they still informed us at this time especially because they are working on SITP already for this year. I believe they don't want to leave us in the dark. How would you have felt if you didn't get any info at all and you hear new people are being called for SRD?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by digerati(m): 5:35pm On Mar 25, 2010
Hmmm but you know the relocation is a one off payment and trust me it would wear off after a while. smiley Outside the relocation, hope the package is still encouraging?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by digerati(m): 9:07am On Mar 25, 2010
Big congratulations Teekays! I can imagine how you feel, the relief and the positive end to the long wait. It's encouraging that you also decided to inform the house. Great stuff. What postion did you apply for? Hope the package is fantastic, as in worth the wait.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by digerati(m): 4:15pm On Jan 09, 2010
@ Southsea, sorry for my very late response. No informal interviews. I haven't heard anything yet but got a happy new year email saying my app is still on hold. I guess it's to let us know we are still on their minds.

@ tjcrown, the waiting period all depends on when they find a vacancy. Let's all pray they finish up quickly with their current restructuring and that it opens up opportunities for us.

All the best guys. smiley

Thanks Southsea and everyone. Guess we'll just have to keep praying then. smiley
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by digerati(m): 9:27am On Nov 24, 2009
You're welcome Southsea. Sorry to bother you but did you get the e-mail that said something about our application being put on hold as they are searching for a suitable position, ? I'm asking for two reasons: 1. To know if it's only IT that was affected 2. They've been doing some serious restructuring and laying off but going by what you are saying, it means things maybe picking up again.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Been Invited For Shell Job Interview by digerati(m): 5:14pm On Nov 23, 2009
Wow! Southsea, congratulations. You'll do eye, urine, blood and blood pressure tests and the doctor would examine you, that's all.

So when did you get the email for the meds? What role did you apply for?, excited to hear this and looking forward to hearing from you. smiley
Romance / Re: Torn Between Two Men by digerati(m): 8:54am On Oct 22, 2009
I read your post and it got me thinking, rather than judging straight away I think what you need is just a little guidance.  Marriage my dear is a life time institution.  If you get it all wrong, you've got your whole life time to regret it (well that's if you are like some of us that believe divorce is out of the question).  If you get it right, yes it could be fun but let no one fool you, even with the right man you'll have challenges.

I'd say you don't know both guys well enough just yet.  One question I have though is, why is the Nigerian guy in a hurry?  You just met a month ago!  If he is really yours he'll still be around when you are ready to make your decision.  As for the UK guy, I would suggest you guys at least meet, online or telephone love has a lower probability of standing serious challenges.  Note that I didn't say it can't work, it's just that there are higher odds against it.

And lady, please don't let all that talk about age bother you.  Yeah, yeah, I know that's easier said than done but girl there's more to love than hooking up with a young lady that's got all her assets INTACT or rather with a current NAFDAC number like one of the earlier posters put it.  Wether you marry early or not, you'll still get to that point where the assets just can't compete with younger ladies so what happens to your marriage then if that was all your man was looking out for?

Dear, you marry your friend, someone you know, can live with and are compatible with (future/vision, social, NOT sexual yet o. You want to keep that special and something you'll both be looking forward to on the special night).  I hope this has thrown some light on the situation.  Please don't be caught up in the emotions of the moment.  Think it through.   smiley

Cheers

@ Monex, the fact (at least that I'm aware of) is, things seem to be on hold. I've done my medicals as I mentioned earlier but I still got the mail that the recruitment is on hold. Right now I don't believe we should go by hearsay or historical trends, if you've not got an offer in hand yet the deal isn't done. I believe we've done our bit and right now things are outside our reach so let's just trust God that they'll find us all roles within their organisation. smiley

Seems everything's been put on hold for now, got the same e-mail. Guess we'll all have to look up to God as we wait. smiley

@ Corleonee: First I think it's a good sign that you haven't gotten a regret letter. Some pple in my batch too haven't got info yet (esp. those in lagos just like priv@teeye's case). Here are your answers (would love to get same feedback from you too)

My SRD was way back early July, I was contacted 3 days after
I did for IT
I can't really tell the rate but I know three of us hav been contacted and a fourth person (resident in lagos) has not gotten feedback

Hope I answered adequately, smiley . Now it's your turn.

@ Chrisbenogor: grin grin grin grin, I've given up on you bro! All the best, hope your logic answers all your questions. Your line of thought just amazes me!!
Romance / Re: Co- Habitation Is It That Bad? by digerati(m): 5:56pm On Aug 24, 2009
@ Chrisbenogor: Oh! now I see the issue. Believing there's no GOD just makes everything meaningless to you. Why is there man and woman? To sleep around and fulfill desires just the way other animals do too right?

I was even surprised you admitted that there's a thing called love (in your statement "having sex with the girl you love" in one of your earlier posts), because I'm not sure lower animals are capable of loving. Anyway if you believe it's possible to love someone, the question then is what is the essence of that feeling towards that particular person? Love's meaningless if there's no reason or purpose (relationship which may lead to marriage) for it. There really is no point feeling that way towards someone only to keep breaking up and having an endless cycle.

What do you think? If man descended from the apes and is like any other animal then sex should come when the females are on heat! Just wham bam thank you ma'am, no feelings attached! Logical isn't it?
Romance / Re: Co- Habitation Is It That Bad? by digerati(m): 5:26pm On Aug 24, 2009
@ ammamat: From your responses, it looks like you've made up your mind already so why bother asking? I am sure all those that responded to your post thought you needed advice.
Romance / Re: Co- Habitation Is It That Bad? by digerati(m): 2:27pm On Aug 24, 2009
@Chrisbenogor: Your view on the subject matter (marriage) is scary. You definitely are entitled to your opinnion, maybe you've had a raw deal or two. I believe that is a pretty skewed perspective and very far from what marriage was intended to be.

Besides, a few bad examples does not justify throwing the baby out with the bath water. Look around, I'm sure there would be at least one family (you may call them old fashioned, but they are healthy and form great backgrounds for future generations) that works. Note: they are not perfect, they've got their issues but they make things work.

Hi everyone,

Been following the thread, sorry I've been silent though. Did my SRD and medical last month. From the thread I see that some people just did theirs (Finance and HR).

Anyone with news yet?
Romance / Re: Co- Habitation Is It That Bad? by digerati(m): 12:41pm On Aug 24, 2009
Let's see it from other perspectives:

Co-habitation gives the Man the 'Full services of a wife' free of charge.  Services that naturally should have been bought by legally recognised commitment - Marriage.  Tell me why, he should pay later for something he's been getting free.

The excuse usually is "we want to try things out first, then if it works we commit".  My question now is what happens if things don't work?

When you eventually get over your pain and get into another one
1. Would you be free to let your boyfriend know the extent you went with your previous one?
2. Would you cohabit again?  If yes, how many times?

Don't mean to be tough dearie, but you've got to think things through before you make your move.

Congratulations man!!! Knowing what you've been through (Cisco ASE) and how God has intervened brings tears to my eyes and is inspiring. Keep holding on to HIM. HE is the MIRACULOUS ONE, HE is all you need to distinguish yourself in your new appointment. Take time to study Daniel, he was a man always way ahead of his peers. Congratulations again sir!
