Sports / Football Betting And Effect On Youth by dihalao(m): 2:17pm On Jul 06, 2015
With no doubt, seventy percent of Nigerian youths are patriotic patronizers of football betting. The rise of these bets is becoming so social that the media now propagandize their various jingles and ads on how to become a Bill Gates in just a day.
Football betting agencies such as Nairabet, 1960bet, bet9ja, Surebet247, Merrybet, betcolony are the advance “senior brother” of soccer polls which our fathers played back then. Only that these new bet agencies just added ideas, concepts and technology. Now we can all be millionaires from our homes, placing bets online.
How I wish it could be easy just like that *smiles*...

But in actuality, one personal reasons which I could testify that football betting has been a merit to the society is that it has gradually scale down crime rate in the country. I know many of you would not agree with me on this, but let me justify with emphasis.
If you reside in Lagos, you would probably know what am talking about. The street touts “Omo ita” are the frequenter to these bets. If you are a doubting Thomas, take a stroll down to this areas: Bariga, Ladi-Lak, Oshodi, Mushin, Agege, Shogunle, Ajegunle, Cele, Ketu, Berger, Surulere etc. Then you will see the truth in my gospel. Also the oldies are not exempted from the list. Students, teenagers and even minors now see it as an easy source of wealth.
A popular old school song featured with inspiring lyrics bears it all; “Oh my son, you should be ready, to lay good foundation, earlier the better, in the nearest future, you will be one of the leader, so will pray Amen!” The fact remains that football betting has never help our fathers and will never help their sons.

I had a personal experience in late 2013. I got very addicted that everyday, I spend thirty percent of my little earnings on football betting. Till I released myself from the spell, I had nothing to write home about. I was full of regrets, self-reproach and ruefulness.
Football betting is now a canker worm that is really eaten deep in the fabric of our society today. With clear view, it has tremendously promoted laziness among youths, blurred dreams, the “quick money” initiative, negligence, unwillingness to work and dormancy. Thus, there by degrading education and apprenticeship to its minimum value.
Ultimately, my statistic arrays that seven of every ten persons are devoted fellow of football betting and it’s a pity that the negativity has obviously shown in the standards, reasoning and reflection of these persons.
My dear beloved brothers, they are many clear-cut ways to make good bills, so liberate yourself from this unruly act.
“The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.. Deuteronomy 28:12 (KJV)

A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in – if a player throws the ball directly into their goal without any other player touching it, the result is a corner kick to the opposing side. Likewise an offensive goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in - the result is a goal kick to the opposition team.
in your own case, a goal kick should have been awarded.

Celebrities / Eedris Abdulkareem Punished Me, He Never Recognised Me- Timaya by dihalao(m): 5:01pm On Jun 07, 2015
Oh dear, life oh life.
What goes around comes around they say so my brothers and sisters pls do good to those who need your help

Timaya has said he owes
Eedris Abdulakareem no thanks
while he worked as a member of
his band, and neither was Eedris
nice to him like he now claims.
According to Timaya, he stays
outside the gate of Eedris
Abdulkareeem from morning till
night whenever he goes to see
him, because they would not allow
him in, and eventually, he sends
someone to tell him to come back
next week. He says Eedirs can’t
take the glory of his career or
reign and he should quit telling
people he made him, because he
never learnt from him. Timaya
made these statements while
answering a question from
Saturday Beats if it was true that
Eedris trained him and made him
like the one time popular singer
claims. Below is what Timaya said;
“When I was with Eedris
Abdulkareem, did he give me due
recognition? Eedris did not make
me who I am today. I was the one
that went to meet Eedris in his
house. He never treated me well.
I would stay at the front of his
gate from morning till night and
he would send somebody to tell
me to come back after a week.
When I returned the following
week, he would not see me. I
used my money to pay to attend
his shows even though I was his
band member. I was not
celebrated.
“The only money Eedris paid me
in his life was N1, 000 and it was
after we had the Kuramo Beach
show. That was nothing compared
to the money I had been
spending on transport. I was not
bothered because I wanted a
platform and I was learning. Like I
always tell people, whatever you
want in life, you just need to
make sacrifice. Even if they feed
you poop, you are not going to
eat it forever. I gained a lot from
that experience. It was through
him that I met Sound Sultan and a
lot of people. Eedris and I don’t
do the same kind of music, so he
does not influence me musically. I
have never been in a studio where
he was recording before and he
never gave me that opportunity,
so how did I learn anything from
him,” he queried.

Sports / Nigeria U20 Stars Hand Cash To Patients During Visit To New Plymouth Hospital by dihalao(m): 5:35pm On Jun 02, 2015
The Flying Eagles duo showed generosity to patients during a visit as part of their community service at the Fifa U20 World Cup

Nigeria U20 players Kelechi Iheanacho and Bernard Bulbwa handed cash to cancer patients during their visit to New Plymouth hospital on Tuesday.
The visit was part of their community service organised by the local organizing committee for the2015 Fifa U20 World Cup.

Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Bernard Bulbwa, Izu Omego and Chidera Eze represented the Nigeria U20 and were led by team liaison officer Chris McIvor and media officer, Samm Audu.

During their one-hour visit, they signed autographs, played indoor football, spent time with some of the young patients and posed for photos with them.

Bulbwa gave young cancer patient Josephine $100, while Iheanacho also donated cash to some of them.

“I like children and so I was happy to come and put a smile on the faces of some of them who are ill. I hope they all get well quickly and return to school,” said Iheanacho.

Nigeria lost their first game to Brazil and must beat North Korea on Thursday to stand a chance of making it to the next round.
