If you guys know Riquelme well you won't be talking like this, first of all the reason why Riquelme was a flop in Barca was because he was treated with indifference by Louis van Gaal who was coach at the time and didn't like him from the word go referring to him as a "political signing", misplacing him by giving him a winger's role. But comparing Riquelme to maradona is wrong, Riquelme's weakness in my own opinion is mobility or lets say in a midfield where you have a very good defensive midfielder say Gattuso for instance no way Riquelme will function. Pirlo best midfielder in the world shocked, plssssssss.

Manchester City are set to land Reggina striker Rolando Bianchi in a €13million(£8.7million) deal, according to reports in Italy.

City have jumped to the front of the queue to land the 24-year-old, who was the fourth top-scorer in Serie A last season.

Newly promoted giants Napoli and Juventus were both keen on keeping Bianchi in Italy, whilst Arsenal and Porstmouth were also strongly linked - but it seems City are firm favourites to clinch his signature.

Reggina president Lillo Foti has confirmed that Bianchi was set to be sold to a foreign club.

"The operation should be done in the next few hours," said Foti.

"Will he go abroad? There is a good possibility.

"The boy would like to remain in Italy, to have the chance with the national team - but there are important offers and he has the ability and characteristics to assert himself, without being here.

"Juventus and Napoli both said they would satisfy our demands - that was in excess of €10million - but the two clubs have done nothing."

With a move looking likely, Bianchi has stressed that he would have few problems with plying his trade away from Italy.

"I could go to a foreign club," Bianchi told Rai Sport.

"I have never discarded any opportunity, from an Italian point of view to stay in Italy does appeal - but that is difficult.

"Then there is the consideration of the other offers which are foreign."

Meanwhile, Reggina have completed the signing of Hungarian starlet Csaba Preklet from Gyori,

The 16-year-old, who had a trial with Reading last year, has penned a three-year deal.

Bakari Sagna will complete his move from Auxerre to Arsenal on Tuesday, according to widespread reports emanating from France.

The talented full-back, who prefers to operate on the right but can also play on the left, is thought to have undergone a medical at Emirates Stadium.

A five-year year deal is purported to have been agreed, after the two clubs concurred on a fee in the region of £6million.

Sagna arrives with a growing reputation in his homeland, having been drafted into Raymond Domenech's France squad, although he has yet to win his first cap.

A whole host of Europe's biggest clubs were thought to be monitoring Sagna's situation, but it is Arsenal who have stolen a march on their rivals to secure his services.

Sir Alex Ferguson is expecting Manchester United to complete the signing of Carlos Tevez in the coming days.

The Argentine has agreed personal terms to join the Premier League champions, who are trying to resolve the issue of his registration with West Ham United and the Premier League.

Tevez's representative Kia Joorabchian is also involved in the negotiation process, but Ferguson believes the matter will conclude with the striker moving to Old Trafford.

"We have had a negotiation, it's well documented, with Carlos Tevez," said Ferguson at a press conference on Sky Sports News.

"The essential parts, it's all agreed, we're just hoping to finalise it soon.

"I thought it was going to be done by last weekend. Everything seemed perfectly okay, so the hold-up must be with the Premier League."

Ferguson also anticipates none of the problems which blighted West Ham's signing of Tevez, with the East London club fined £5.5million.

The United manager insists nothing 'dodgy' will occur in his club's quest to bring the South American to the club.

He added: "I don't know about the intricacies, I've left that to Maurice Watkins, he's dealing with that.

"I'm sure the outcome will be that we will be taking him with complete clarity in the deal, with no suspicions or anything dodgy about it.

"There is no way we can be involved in anything that's underhand at all."

Tevez's capture would complete a big-spending summer for Ferguson, who has already secured deals for Anderson, Owen Hargreaves and Nani.

Wigan Athletic will hold talks with Jason Koumas after West Bromwich Albion accepted an offer for the Wales international.

Koumas has been targeted by several Premier League clubs after West Brom failed to clinch a return to the top flight.

Fulham have had an offer rejected, while Aston Villa have denied reports of a swap deal for Koumas involving Gary Cahill and Isaiah Osbourne.

Latics boss Chris Hutchings saw a £4million bid for Koumas turned down last month, but has now increased his offer to £5.3million.

West Brom have accepted the bid, with chairman Jeremy Peace confirming it has met with the club's valuation of the player.

"We have said all along we will only consider selling players like Jason if we receive head-turning offers and that the deals are in the club's best interests," Peace told the club's official website.

"We feel these offers mirror those criteria."

Diomansy Kamara has already left the Hawthorns on Monday after finalising a £6million transfer to Fulham.

Koumas could be the next to go, while centre-half Curtis Davies has also asked to leave Tony Mowbray's men.

Liverpool have made a £10m bid for highly-rated Ajax winger Ryan Babel, BBC Five Live Sport understands.
However, the Dutch club are thought to be holding out for £13.5m for the 20-year-old, who has also been linked to Arsenal.

Babel's agent told Sportweek magazine: "Liverpool have made a bid for Ryan but he hasn't spoken with them.

"We can only speak when Ajax say the clubs have an agreement, and phase two can start, but it's not that far yet."

But Five Live football correspondent Jonathan Legard has been told a deal could go through on Wednesday.

He said: "Liverpool have bid 15m euros (£10m), Ajax want 20 million euros (£13.5m) so there's a gap of about £3.5m.

"He was strongly linked to Arsenal but Liverpool have made their move and it seems they will use the money from Craig Bellamy's move to West Ham to bring in one of Europe's finest young talents."

Babel impressed as part of the Holland Under-21 team that won the recent European Championship.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez signed striker Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid last week and admitted he was looking to sign wide players to help supply his new acquisition.

Babel made 27 Eredivisie appearances for Ajax last season, scoring five goals.

Fulham have won the race to sign Diomansy Kamara from West Brom.
The Cottagers have paid £6m for the 26-year-old striker, who has agreed a four-year deal.

Kamara asked for a transfer after West Brom's play-off final loss and was also thought to be a West Ham target.

Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez said: "His pace will get him in good situations and there's no doubt about the quality of his finishing."

Kamara follows Northern Ireland duo Steven Davis and Aaron Hughes to Craven Cottage as part of Sanchez's summer spending spree.

The striker had unproductive spells with Portsmouth and West Brom in the top flight, but Sanchez insists he has faith in the Senegal international.

"Any player you take up from the Championship is a gamble," he said.

"He was at Portsmouth and it didn't work out for him but he has had a couple of great seasons with West Brom and now has a chance to step back up to the Premiership.

"Any player that comes to English football finds it a shock to the system, but having had two years of it, it is now a chance to step up and prove himself at this level."

Kamara scored 23 goals as the Baggies reached the Championship play-offs last season.

He told Fulham's website: "It was a disappointing end to my time at West Brom when we did not gain promotion, but I am certain they will achieve that, hopefully next season.

"When the opportunity to sign for Fulham came up, it was just a question of making sure we could agree everything and I'm delighted that is finally done, and I can concentrate on next season, back in the Premiership."

West Brom initially rejected Kamara's transfer request but decided to accept a club-record offer for Kamara, as well as Wigan's £5.3m bid for Jason Koumas.

"We have said all along we will only consider selling players like Diomansy and Jason if we receive head-turning offers and that the deals are in the club's best interests," he told the West Brom website.

"We feel these offers mirror those criteria."

Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is hopeful Middlesbrough will come up with a new offer for him to stay at the club.
The 34-year-old, who is currently with the Australian squad at the Asia Cup, rejected a new deal earlier this month.

But he still wants to stay and said: "My agent is speaking to Middlesbrough and at the moment it's between him and the club to try to sort out something.

"As far as I am concerned, I'm just concentrating on the tournament and I hope the rest will sort itself out."

After Schwarzer turned down the initial offer his agent Shep Messing stated: "Middlesbrough asked what Mark wanted and we confirmed his wish to remain at the club.

"We put forward a sensible and fair proposition for both player and club. We have received a proposal from the club and, at this point, we have been unable to agree on terms."

Schwarzer had earlier blamed Mark Viduka's exit on the club's failure to seal deals early enough and said he could leave for the same reason.

Viduka, 31, left Boro to join Newcastle on a free transfer after his contract expired.

"I've taken it to be quite normal at Middlesbrough, they do leave things very, very late," added Schwarzer.

"They tend to do things only when they're under pressure."

Schwarzer's public outburst was criticised by Boro chief executive Keith Lamb.

He commented: "Talks are ongoing but we do not and will not conduct our negotiations through the media."

Nicolas Anelka has insisted he is staying at Bolton after holding talks with manager Sammy Lee.
The 28-year-old striker's future had been put in doubt after former boss Sam Allardyce left for Newcastle but Anelka says he is not targeting a summer move.

"There has been a lot of speculation about my future but I can honestly say that I am very happy in England and at Bolton," he told the club's website.

"This is a great club with a strong mentality around being successful."

Anelka joined the Trotters in a club record £8m deal from Fenerbahce in August 2006 and has recently returned to the France side.

He played two Euro 2008 qualifiers after the end of the last domestic season and also got married during the summer.

Anelka says he is refreshed for the new campaign and added: "I have sat down with Sammy Lee over the weekend and he has outlined his plans for the coming season.

"I like his philosophy and I am looking forward to working with him at the club.

"He is passionate and wants to continue Bolton's recent success.

"His ambition matches mine and I want to commit to him."

Lee is aware that Anelka is keen to play in the Champions League and says he will allow the player to leave and do that if Bolton are not in with a chance of achieving that aim.

"I have been concerned about the speculation in the media linking some of my players with moves away from the club," he said.

"It has been unsettling but I remain confident that quality players will want to stay here.

"I had a very positive conversation with Nicolas and he has given me his commitment.

"He enjoys playing for Bolton and last season he felt that his career was progressing back to his best on the back of his solid performances for us.

"I know he has ambitions of playing in the Champions League again, which I hope can be achieved with us.

"If that can't be the case, I will not stand in his way should a Champions League club come in for him and the deal is right for Bolton Wanderers.

"Until that time, he doesn't want to play football anywhere else but here."

Real Madrid have named Bernd Schuster as their new coach following the sacking of Fabio Capello.
The 47-year-old German has ended his two-year association with Getafe to take over at the Bernabeu.

"His teams play good, entertaining football," said Real president Ramon Calderon. "He knows the club and will handle a dressing room full of stars."

Capello was sacked on 28 June - only 11 days after he led Real to their first league title since 2003.

Schuster will be officially unveiled at a news conference at 1215 BST.

Getafe have moved quickly to replace Schuster, appointing Dane Michael Laudrup as their new coach on a two-year contract.

Former Barcelona and Real Madrid player Schuster led Getafe to the Spanish Cup final and ninth place in La Liga last season.

He had previously coached Fortuna Koln, FC Koln, Xerez, Shakhtar Donetsk and Levante.

Schuster was expected to buy himself out of his contract at Getafe before making the switch to Real after Calderon had said he would not pay a transfer fee to sign a coach.

Real claimed they had talks with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, PSV Eindhoven coach Ronald Koeman and former Brondby coach Michael Laudrup.

However, last week Arsenal denied that Real spoke to Wenger.

Cardiff City are trying to persuade former England striker Robbie Fowler to join the Championship club.
Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale had previously refused to confirm they had approached the 32-year-old, who was released by Liverpool this summer.

But Ridsdale told the Liverpool FC website: "We have offered an attractive package and are hopeful Robbie will decide to come to Cardiff City."

Cardiff face competition from other clubs, thought to include Rangers.

The Scottish Premier League giants, and their Glasgow rivals Celtic, are understood to have sounded out Fowler about a move north of the border.

But Fowler's adviser George Scott believes Scotland is an unlikely destination for Fowler.

"I can't see Rangers or Celtic being an option. They have each got too many strikers on their books and would need to offload a couple first," said Scott.

"The one thing Robbie knows he wants is regular first-team football.

"We have got eight offers on the table and Robbie is considering the lot of them.

"Could it be at Cardiff? Why not? I think Cardiff, if they have the ambition, is the sort of place Robbie would thrive at."

However, Scott says he has yet to receive a formal approach from Cardiff, who could struggle to afford Fowler unless there is much goodwill from the player.

The forward is financially secure, thanks to shrewd property investments, and it is possible he could take a drastic drop in wages from the £50,000 a week he was on at Anfield.

But failing that, Cardiff would either need to shatter their wage structure - which is unlikely given the financial constraints caused by building a new stadium at Leckwith - or put together a huge sponsorship package.

Ridsdale told BBC Sport Wales that he was surprised to hear that comments attributed to him had appeared on Liverpool's website.

"There's been a lot of press speculation, obviously I know Robbie from his days at Leeds and he's an outstanding finisher and outstanding footballer," Ridsdale said.

"Were we ever in a position where we could attract him, I think our supporters would realise our talk of ambition is more than just talk.

"If and when we're in a position to announce the arrival of a player of that stature we will do so, but in the meantime I don't like talking about speculation."

A more likely destination at the moment appears to be Australia, with Australian FourFourTwo reporting that Fowler is expected to travel Down Under next week for talks with Sydney FC club officials.

Major League Soccer side New England Revolution are also thought to be courting Fowler, who won 26 caps for England and scored seven goals.

One thing that may count in Cardiff's favour is that Fowler has a young family and may not want to drastically uproot them by moving abroad, far away from friends and family.

He made his Liverpool debut as an 18-year-old in 1993, scoring 171 goals in 330 games before joining Leeds for £11m in 2001 and then Manchester City for £6m in 2003.

Fowler returned for a second spell at Anfield in January 2006, although his starting appearances were limited.
