A young lady who allegedly inserted artificial man’s organ into a co-tenant’s genital after giving her an alcoholic drink, has been hauled before an Accra gender-based violence circuit court. The accused, Queenie Akuffo, who reportedly filmed the act with her Infinix mobile phone, is standing trial for unnatural carnal knowledge. Before trial judge M rs. Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, the accused denied the charge and was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢40,000 with three sureties. The case has been adjourned until February 12, 2016. Prosecuting, Detective Inspector Judith B. Asante said the complainant, Comfort Sam, is the complainant and mother of the victim, Janet Amoakwah. She said Queenie and the victim both resided in the same house at Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region. D/Insp. Asante said on January 25, this year, at about 6pm, Queenie sent the victim’s younger sister – a witness in the case – to go and call the victim which she obliged. Detective Inspector Asante said when the victim arrived, Queenie offered her Vodka beer to drink constantly, indicating that Queenie then sent the victim’s sister to buy her two big bottles of beer which she (Queenie) again offered to the victim. The prosecutor said Janet as a result, got intoxicated and Queenie lured her into her bedroom. According to the prosecution, Queenie asked other witnesses around to leave and she locked the door of her bedroom, adding that a 13-year-old witness went to peep through the window of the accused and saw Queenie inserting the artificial ‘thing’ into the victim’s private part. Detective Inspector Asante said the witness informed the victim’s brother, one Nana Sasu, and he also alerted her mother (the complainant). They rushed to the aid of the victim and saw her lying naked in the accused person’s bedroom with vomit all over her. The prosecutor said Janet, who was then unconscious, was rushed to the hospital. A complaint was lodged at the police station leading to the arrest of Queenie. A search of her room revealed an empty Vodka drink, Star beer and Orijin bottles. According to the prosecutor, the artificial male organ was found on top of the accused person’s wardrobe while a video recording of the act was also found on Queenie’s “Infinix@ mobile phone. D/Insp Asante said Queenie, in her caution statement to the police, admitted the offence. Source: http://www.speakforum.com/lesbian-taken-to-gender-based-violence-circuit-court/ |

https://www.myhealthytraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Breaking-Scientists-Have-Just-Told-Women-To-STOP-Wearing-Bra-Immediately.-Must-See-The-Reasons.jpg In order to raise breast cancer awareness and inform women about the dangers of wearing a bra, the world celebrates The National No Bra Day on October 13th. Bra has been invented with the idea of holding the breast in place, and is a necessity for women with big breasts. But, recent studies suggest that the bras do more harm than good. A long-lasting study (15 years) about the negative effects of bras was conducted by Jean Dennis Rouillion, a professor and sports science researcher at the University of Franche-Comte. He performed the study with 330 women aged between 18-35, who were wearing a bra from their early ages. The results were scandalous: bras didn’t do anything to support the chest, reduce back pain or prevent saggy breasts. Actually, wearing a bra made them even saggier! The women who refrained from wearing the bra during the study had a 7 mm. lift in their nipples. Professor Rouillion thinks that bras cause poor circulation, and that women who don’t wear them can expect better elasticity due to an increase of collagen. So there you have it girls – not wearing a bra is actually better for you. source: http://speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=598&sid=c25415aae14425c93ae7a667a3f461f3 |

A Nigerian nursing student in Ghana is fighting for her life at the 37 Military Hospital after a friend she was living with allegedly poured acid on her at Auntie Aku, near Santa Maria in Accra. The victim, identified as Kasali Kofoworola Zainab, 25, of the Pherson Health College at Achimota in Accra, was sleeping on a couch when her friend poured the acid on her. The police gave the name of Kasali’s friend, who is suspected to have poured the acid on Kasali, as Eugenia Billiana Coleman, a 32-year-old businesswoman. Victim tells police her ordeal Kasali told the police on her sickbed that Eugenia subjected her to the acid bath after she had rejected a request by Eugenia to join her in her illegal narcotic business. She is said to have told the police that Eugenia asked her to go with her (Eugenia) to Tanzania to survey the security condition in that country before they could convey cocaine there later. According to the police, Kasali said she declined to give her passport to Eugenia for the processing of their travel documents, since she did not want to be involved in narcotic business. Eugenia Billiana Coleman, the suspect However, Eugenia, who denied being the culprit, claims some unknown assailants threw the acid on Kasali while she (suspect) was out of the house. Kasali is said to have moved from her rented apartment at Auntie Aku, near Sowutuom, to live with Eugenia in the same area after Eugenia had asked her to share her room, following a series of robbery attacks on Kasali. A second person, identified as Samuel Boateng, an accountant with the Ghana Cocoa Board, is also in the custody of the Sowutuom Police on suspicion of being Eugenia’s accomplice. Kasali, who sustained burns on her face, the front part of her body, buttocks, hands and legs, is said to have woken up from her sleep screaming hysterically at about 1:30 a.m. on November 18, 2015 after the acid had been poured on her. Police findings in preliminary investigations When contacted, the Sowutuom District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Ms Susana Adjei, confirmed Eugenia and Boateng’s arrest. She said Kasali had told police investigators on her sickbed that when she felt the effect of the acid on her body, she started screaming, but Eugenia, who was standing by her, told her to stop shouting, as nobody would hear her. Kasali is also said to have told the police that Eugenia later dragged her by the hair to the bathroom and put her under the shower. Ms Adjei said the police, in their preliminary investigations, found that even though the suspect and the victim lived in a compound house, none of the tenants was called in to assist Kasali. Kasali also told the police that after pleading with Eugenia to take her to hospital, the latter, who failed to inform anyone in the compound house, did not do so immediately, but rather drove her around town. Hospital causes arrest of suspect Police investigations have established that Eugenia drove towards Tema, using the Spintex Road, until a police patrol team told her to go to the 37 Military Hospital. At the 37 Military Hospital, records show that Eugenia arrived at the facility at 5:30 a.m. and failed to report the incident to the police. While at the hospital, a witness whose name is being withheld heard Boateng, believed to be an accomplice, telling Eugenia that life would have been simple if she had killed Kasali. Ms Adjei said even though Eugenia was told by the hospital authorities to report the case to the police, she refused to do so until the Airport Police was called in to arrest her. The Airport Police subsequently transferred the case to the Sowutuom Police for further investigations. https://cdn2.peacefmonline.com/photos/news/201512/711634889_945150.jpg source: http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=469 |
Enusah Fusseini, a 22-year-old “Sakawa” boy has gone insane after refusing to do the bidding of a fetish priest to have sexual intercourses with a madwoman-a task that was to mark the end of the seven-day directive of the fetish priest. The victim, as a result of his insanity, stabbed his younger brother to death, this paper can confirm. In an interview with The Republic Newspaper, Mallam Waha-Djud, a spiritualist at Apam junction in the central region who is currently working on the boys’ health, said the boy’s family brought Fusseini for spiritual cleansing and healing. Mallam Waha-Djud, after examining Fusseini, confirmed that indeed the boy is under severe spiritual attack for failing to perform the last task of the gods. He told this paper that, “if Fusseini had gone through the seven-day rituals proposed by his fetish priest, he would not have faced the insanity problem he is contending with now, and he would have indeed made the money he wanted so badly”. The Mallam further told this paper that the mad “sakawa” boy has been taken to many spiritual homes, without success; adding that even the fetish priest in whose hands he suffered the insanity cannot reverse it because he is of a lesser power. Mallam Waha-Djud explained that the country now has thousands of fake fetish priests with little or no powers duping greedy youth who will stop at nothing to get rich oblivious of the consequences thereafter. Adding that he has what it takes to heal the boy, “who is currently responding to treatment, but the healing process will take time. It is a gradual process”. The victim’s family member, Nana Wusu, speaking to this paper, confirmed, “The victim indeed stabbed one of his brothers to death”, and also confirmed that they have made efforts, by taken him (the victim) to several spiritual homes for healing and reversal of the curse but the results have always been negative. source: http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=463 |
Amsterdam would pass as second Kumasi—with several Ghanaians having made the place their first home because of the high standard of living and countless economic opportunities the capital of Netherlands presents. Of course with such great opportunities and order come the laws which make the country attractive; and everyone living in Netherlands, even if from the Amazon forest or Tuobodom must abide by the laws of the land. But Ghanaians love their fufu and light soup and though the Dutch do not really have a problem with Ghanaians eating their local dishes, the cooking/preparation must all be done within the laws of the land. The people of Netherlands are extensive liberal and that explains why for many years, places like Bijlmer Arena with a huge Ghanaian population, literally and metaphorically constantly filled with the aroma of ‘Prekese’ still has several whites living there. In spite of the liberal mindset and the immeasurable hospitality of the Dutch, they do not joke with their nuisance laws—the reason why Holland is peaceful, clean and orderly. For two Ghanaians living at Bijlmer Arena in Amsterdam, the Neat Fufu which almost every Ghanaian abroad have to eat in place of the actual pounded fufu Ghanaians enjoy back home is not enough. Therefore, during their recent visit to Ghana, they managed to bring fufu Mortar and Pestle via KLM to Amsterdam—and around 10pm last week after they returned from work, they started their fufu pounding in their flat on the 7th floor. According to police sources, about 15 neighbours who were being disturbed by the heavy pounding kept calling to report the nuisance. Eventually when the police stormed the apartment, the two had finished pounding their fufu and were settled, ready to eat. They were arrested for nuisance—a warning was not enough, because these same couple had already been warned 3 times, 2 for playing loud Amakye Dede songs at night—and the other, for unnecessary car beeping when they drive pass their friends. During the arrest, ScrewLife.com is told the couple begged the police to allow them to at least finish eating their fufu and Prekese soup, with crabs swimming all over in the soup. But the police refused because they did not have time to wait around. The two will soon appear before a judge with a short prison sentence and fine hanging around their necks. source: http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=449 |

Dr Victor Bampoe, Deputy Minister of Health has inaugurated a Brain and Sex Clinic in Accra to help address challenges of mental health and sexual relations in the country. Addressing the audience as a Guest Speaker, Dr Bampoe said according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), out of the 27.1 million people living in Ghana, 650,000 are suffering from severe mental challenge and a further 2,166,000 are suffering from a moderate to mild mental challenge. He said this means that almost 10 percent of the population needs some kind of mental health attention. “However, the same WHO report says that only two percent of all mental health patients get any form of treatment. The treatment gap therefore is 98 percent of the total population of people with mental challenges. “This is unacceptable and we need every Ghanaian on board if we are going to successfully fight this battle and that is exactly what the Brain Clinic is doing; helping address the challenges of mental health in Ghana”. The Deputy Minister mentioned cost of treatment and stigmatisation as the two things that prevent persons with mental challenges from seeking the needed medical help. He expressed the need for people to be able to feel comfortable to check into a rehabilitation centre or book an appointment with a psychiatrist or therapist when necessary. Dr Bampoe said the possibility of tagging a person as mad or stigmatising the fellow could worsen the plight. He also noted that collaboration between the private and public medical insurance providers to address the deficiencies in the healthcare delivery is the best way forward. On his part, this would help increase health facilities centres that are non-existent especially mental health facilities which are woefully limited. “Mental illness as its name suggests, is an illness and as such each of us is susceptible. As individuals or organisations, we can have a healthy or an unhealthy nation. “Removing the stigmatisation and reducing the high cost of medical intervention is a must if we are going to reduce the treatment gap of mental illness to much lower levels”. Dr Yaw Mfodwo, Chief Executive Officer of the Clinic, said quality health care would continue to elude the nation unless it is seen as a viable long-term business that is worth investing in. “For that to happen, we need insurance players, bankers and healthcare professionals to come together and partner very early on in the careers of young healthcare professionals, he said. He said the first specialised sex clinic in Ghana was also launched in collaboration with DISA Clinic of South Africa to diagnose and manage all manner of sexual problems in males, females and in couples and eventually market intimacy gadgets. “We believe that sex is one area where the focus on health and pleasure is being lost and substituted by a focus on charismatic church morality.” Mentioning challenges associated with setting up a healthcare facility, he said the legislation and requirements for setting up such a structure and thinks the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HFRA) should be an independent, well-staffed body which should charge market-related fees for services like registration of a facility, renewal of licence. Dr Mfodwo, who is also the Founder of the Clinic, said the HFRA should be able to enforce legislation for both public and private institutions to ensure quality standards citing the Food and Drugs Authority as an example. He disclosed that said the facility would provide both an in and outpatient services, adding that the Clinic wants to eliminate the negative feeling in mentally unstable patients. He said the facility could admit 24 patients simultaneously, adding that it also has recreational space for the patients as well as professionals who would offer them better services to ensure their health is secured. One of Ghana’s millionaires Prince Kofi Amoabeng has revealed he does not pay tithe and will never honour the Christian rite for personal reasons. A tithe is one tenth of annual produce or earnings, formerly taken as a tax for the support of the Church and clergy. The president of UT Holdings said on Morning Starr, Friday, he believes in God and goes to Church “once in a long while if there is a wedding or funeral,” but he is not a tither. “I don’t pay tithe. I would not give 10 percent, and nobody can force me to give 10 percent of my money to anybody. So I don’t pay tithe. I do all sort of philanthropic jobs myself. I see where there is the need for me to help, and I help. “I don’t have to give it to somebody who then decides where to put the money. So it is my hard earned money, and I should put it where I want to put it,” he told host Nii Arday Clegg. Despite his posturing towards the payment of tithe, the former CEO of UT Bank opined: “That’s me. I’m not saying payment of tithe is bad. I’m not here to say don’t pay tithe. No. I think it depends on what you see the church for and what the church means to you and does for you.” “I don’t give a damn,” Amoabeng opined when asked how he will feel when he dies. “I don’t think about death at all.” source: http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=366 |

'A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall. They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever good enough! When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters... That's why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and your dreams, because some folk can't handle seeing you blessed... It's dangerous to be like somebody else... If God wanted you to be like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them! Right? You never know what people have gone through to get what they have... The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they don't know my story... If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too! We've all got some haters among us!' Paul Aveneme, the 26-year-old man who stabbed his girlfriend, Jennifer Atieku, to death for attempting to end their five-year relationship at Madina on Thursday morning, has revealed that they made a blood covenant. He allegedly told some hospital officials attending to him at the Alpha Medical Centre that he was not willing to let his lover leave him for another man. The deceased Jennifer Atieku was on Thursday morning stabbed to death by Paul, a taxi driver and a Gabonese national, after she tried to break-up with him. https://cdn.ghanaweb.com/imagelib/pics/36532745.295.jpg On his hospital bed at the Alpha Medical Centre at Madina, where he is currently receiving treatment, the suspect said he was afraid that Jennifer, whom he had dated for the past five years, would leave him for another man. A source at the hospital told DAILY GUIDE that the two lovers swore under the said covenant to stay together till death and sensing that she was slipping away, he decided to end it all by killing her and then committing suicide. He asked that he be buried close to his lover when he also passes away while receiving medical attention. Paul Aveneme was unconscious when he was rushed to the Alpha Medical Centre after attempting to take his own life. He had since regained consciousness and was still receiving treatment under police guard. It would be recalled that Jennifer Atieku, 22, a Level 300 Banking and Finance student of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), was stabbed to death by her jealous lover. Jennifer’s taxi driver boyfriend allegedly killed her after she announced a break-up of their five-year relationship. The boyfriend, according to information gathered by DAILY GUIDE, did not take kindly to the decision of the lady to leave him and threatened to kill her. He then carried out his threat early Thursday morning, after which he attempted to kill himself by stabbing his abdomen. He however survived. He was rushed to the nearest clinic for medical attention and was resuscitated, according to police report. Jennifer, according to the report, received knife wounds on the head, throat and left breast, leading to her death. The body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy. Sponsorship Brouhaha Meanwhile, some friends of Jennifer have debunked speculations by a section of the public that Paul was the one sponsoring her education. A close pal, on condition of anonymity, told DAILY GUIDE that Jennifer was being sponsored by one Felix Atieku, her elder brother. According to the pal, Jennifer lost interest in the relationship after Paul started to maltreat her. “She was not allowed to make friends or even give out her personal phone number to friends. Even if Jennifer wanted to do something, she had to seek permission from Paul before she would be allowed to do it. She became fed up with it and wanted to end the relationship but she was afraid,” narrated the friend who claimed they both attended Mamfe Girls Senior High School in the Eastern Region. She said after taking the bold step to announce their break-up, Paul threatened to kill Jennifer and so the matter was reported to the Legon Police for investigations last Tuesday. Police reports indicated that Paul was only released on bail Wednesday evening, only for him to take his lover’s life the next morning. The report said Paul, aggrieved by the fact that he was locked up, allegedly bought a new kitchen knife and visited the Obama hostel of the lady not too far from UPSA. Jennifer, who had then dressed up and was preparing to attend lectures that morning, was trailed by the suspect right from the school and upon reaching the Alpha Medical Centre area, he accosted and stabbed her several times. Some passers-by heard the screams of the victim and rushed to her rescue. Sensing danger, the suspect also stabbed himself in the abdomen. Source: http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=346 |

https://cdn.ghanaweb.com/imagelib/pics/45263070.295.jpg The 25-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Nazir Nortei Alema, who left home to join the swelling ranks of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria, a terrorist organization, has sent a message via Facebook to greet friends and family. Nazir captured local and international news headlines in August, when news of his decision to join ISIS broke after his parents told Ghana’s national security of his decision. The National Security later confirmed the report and raised an alarm of an agency in Ghana that was targeting and recruiting young Muslims from tertiary institutions to join ISIS. On Wednesday November 11, a message popped up on Nazir’s Facebook wall. The message read “As-salaamu ‘Alaikum, From The Islamic State, with Joy.” Although Citifmonline.com cannot independently confirm if Nazir posted the comment himself, some family and friends who responded to the post have confirmed he owns the account. According to them, it is the same account he used in Ghana before his sudden disappearance. Nazir’s Facebook post has so far received forty likes and sixty-three comments. With a degree in Geography and Rural Development, Nazir Nortei Alema is one of the several suspected Muslim youth from Ghana believed to have joined the terrorist group, which has gained notoriety for public beheading of their opponents or those they regard as infidels, attracting worldwide condemnation. Nazir’s trip to the training grounds of the so-called Islamic State, started on 2nd August 2015, soon after his completion of the mandatory National Service in Ghana, which he undertook at the Statistical Service. Since August 2015, Nazir’s family has not heard from him after he confirmed his ISIS membership via whatsApp. Extracts from Nazir’s WhatsApp message, received by his brother Kabiru Alema read as follows: “Pray for me, for I will never forget you in my prayer and it’s my hope and prayer that we meet again if not in this world then in Jannah (paradise). I love you all. May Allah grant us understanding and guide us all to the straight path. Asalaamu Alaikum.” “I told you a lie to please my Allah. The deception was to go do some research work in far away Prestea while the main idea was to move far away from you all to the Islamic State (IS). I know it might sound kind of crazy for you but your son really had to take this bold step to get out of the corrupt system of Ghana which has democracy first on its list,” Most of the comments from friends and family appealed to Nazir to return home because they were missing him. But Nazir did not respond or like any of the comments that followed his post. Some of his supposed relatives who immediately sent him private messages via Facebook upon seeing the post, have confirmed to Citifmonline.com that he never responded to any of them. Some of the comments that followed his post read “Bro where are you.” Another said: “U know we been looking for u for some time now.” “How come u didn’t tell me this?” “Nazir Don Allah where are you? Please call home. You know everyone is sick worried about you. Plead call.” “Wasalaam wa rahma, hp u doing great my bro. Kindly call home we miss u a lot." “Hmm my one n only bro, wish to see u soon. Come back come back come back to us. We love u”. Others read “ooooo NAZ what happened to you. u should know better than them.#ComeBack." “Husbi happy to hear from u”, “Alhamdulilah at least we know you are alive. If this is really you . A new study suggests that people should get married between the ages of 28 and 32 if they don’t want to get divorced, at least in the first five years. Before we proceed to the explanation: Don’t shoot me if you’re older than that and not married yet. These are just statistics and can in no way account for your personal situation, or that last cheater/psycho/narcissist you wasted 18 months on. Nobody’s blaming you. You are a wonderful and entirely loveable person. The study was done by Nick Wolfinger, a sociologist at the University of Utah, and published by the generally pro-marriage Institute of Family Studies. It suggests that people who get married between 28 and 32 split up least in the ensuing years. This is a new development; sociologists formerly believed that waiting longer to get hitched usually led to more stability, and there was no real sell-by date. Wolfinger analyzed data from 2006-2010 and the 2011-2013 National Survey of Family Growth. He found a sort of upside down bell curve. “The odds of divorce decline as you age from your teenage years through your late twenties and early thirties,” he writes. “Thereafter, the chances of divorce go up again as you move into your late thirties and early forties.” For each year after about 32, the chance of divorce goes up about 5% says the study. Some wag over at Slate called this the Goldilocks theory of getting married: you have to be not too young and not too old. There are lots of reasons why late 20s/early 30s would make sense as a time to start a lifelong partnership with someone: people are old enough to understand if they really get along with someone or are just blinded by hormones. They’ve already made significant life choices and taken on some responsibilities. And they may be just financially solvent enough to be able to contemplate supporting someone should the need arise. On the other hand, they’re not so old and set in their ways that they can’t make the myriad of little adjustments in habits and lifestyle and goals and personal hygiene that marriage requires. They probably don’t have ex-spouses or children among whom they to divide their time, resources and loyalty. Wolfinger says the curve persists “even after controlling for respondents’ sex, race, family structure of origin, age at the time of the survey, education, religious tradition, religious attendance, and sexual history, as well as the size of the metropolitan area that they live in.” He thinks the reason might be selection bias. “The kinds of people who wait till their thirties to get married may be the kinds of people who aren’t predisposed toward doing well in their marriages,” he writes. This also means “people who marry later face a pool of potential spouses that has been winnowed down to exclude the individuals most predisposed to succeed at matrimony.” (Again, I refer you to my caveat in paragraph two. It’s Mr. Wolfinger suggesting singles over 32 are not marriage material, not me. ) Other sociologists who cover this waterfront were quick to weigh in with doubts. The University of Maryland’s Phillip Cohen used a different set of data, from the American Community Survey, to say that getting older didn’t mean your marriage had less chance of survival. According to his analysis, the perfect age to get married if you don’t want to get divorced is 45 to 49, which, he notes, is why people shouldn’t make life decisions based on statistical analyses on the Internet. The truth is: divorce is a difficult social pattern to measure. Many states decline to collect data on it. And since a growing number of people are opting for living together without getting the government seal of approval, counting divorce is becoming less useful as a way of measuring family fracturing. Still, there are a few truisms backed by research: Having money and a college degree reduces your chances of getting divorced, as does getting engaged before moving in together and waiting to have kids until after the nuptials. A 28-year-old Teacher from Akyem Oda, Essah Samuel, has allegedly committed suicide by taking a poisonous liquid substance at a hotel in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital. Samuel died at the Koforidua regional Government Hospital after he was rushed there for medical care by staff of the hotel. The New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Richardson Kumekor, confirming the incident to Starr News’ Eastern Regional Correspondent, Kojo Ansah, explained that an accountant at the hotel came to the station and reported that the teacher who was lodging at room 4 of the hotel was found vomiting and later fell unconscious. He said investigators led by Lance Corporal Derick Kofi Owusu and Detective Inspector Edwin Segbefia Tetteh were dispatched to the Hospital for investigation. Superintendent Kumekor added that Police attempted to interrogate the victim but were unsuccessful since he was recovering, however, he was pronounced dead the following day. He said the Police on that fateful day also proceeded to the crime scene where they found a leftover rice which he ate and the poisonous liquid substance which was contained in a small Voltic bottle. A statement has since been taken from the hotel authorities as investigation continues. Meanwhile, the body is scheduled to be conveyed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy. Starr News source indicates that the deceased allegedly committed the act due to a failed relationship. Family members have since trooped to Koforidua to avail themselves to Police for further collaboration. source http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=296 |

It said heads of schools had been empowered to look out for bullies to sanction or dismiss them depending on the gravity of the offence. Additionally, house masters and mistresses had also been tasked to watch out for senior students who bully their juniors. According to the GES, it would not tolerate such behaviours from senior students hence the empowerment of the heads. The Director of the Secondary Education Division of the GES, Mr Michael Inkoom, who made this known in an interview with the Junior Graphic, therefore, advised continuing students to desist from the bad practice of harassing new students, especially with the arrival of the Form One students. “The continuing students, particularly the third-year students should direct their focus on their 2016 May-June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) rather than chasing the Form Ones all over the place,” he added. Most fresh students who have been placed in SHSs and technical institutes (TIs) under the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) were expected to report to school for full academic activities on November 3. Officially, they were supposed to have reported on October 28 but the delay in the release of the placement notices compelled the extension of the date for reporting. As of the time of going to press, 408,834 out of a total of 440,112 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates had been placed in SHSs and TIs. Mr Inkoom asked fresh students to be law-abiding and respect authority so that they would not become victims of sanctions. Parents of both fresh and continuing students, he said, should also advise their children to abide by school rules so that their stay in school would not be truncated through unruly behaviour. This year’s placement exercise has not been without controversy as students posted in some senior high schools have still not been admitted due to inadequate accommodation facilities. The schools which are in the Central, Ashanti, Volta and Eastern regions claimed they do not have the facilities to cater for the students. According to them, the students far exceeded the number of students they requested for. However, the GES has directed all heads to admit students that have been placed in their schools or face sanctions. http://speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=295&sid=6b5e798b0fb23e94463e82f7c5c436f1 |

In an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM, Mohammed ‘Polo’ popularly known as the "Dribbling Magician" revealed that as a footballer, he had his own source of protection and that was his faith in Allah. He noted that as a player, he was able to stand against the spiritual forces that other players consulted to bring his blossom career to an abrupt end because he prayed and did the things the Quran directed him to do. As a staunch Muslim, he reveals he always prayed five times in a day and did his best to add the optional ones which other Muslims refused to perform. This he said was to ensure Allah protected him from the spirituals forces that were sent on the field to attack him. http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=291 |

Reports are rife in the local media that the authorities will communicate to the team that bonuses have been scrapped by 50 per cent. “To tell you the truth I am quite upset with this,” Gyan told Montie FM. “I think it is an issue against personalities. We as footballers should also be considered as workers and after a hard day’s work, one needs to get paid. “I don’t think when I hang up my boots and fall sick I will go into the offices of a minister and say because I played for the national team he should give me money to take care of my medical expenses. “We are not slaves so such things cannot be enforced in the manner in which I hear it is being enforced,” he added. Ghana will lock horns with Comoros on November 13 in the first leg at the Stade Said Mohamed Cheikh before hosting Les Coelecantes at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the return encounter four days later. Goal understands that Ghana delegation will travel to Comoros with a chartered flight from Accra on November 12 and return right after the game for the return fixture in Kumasi on November 17. source: http://speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=282&sid=8c3fa67e550433add52e709462ef171b |
Most Reverend Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, has declared that the Church would never endorse the practice of homosexuality because it was inconsistent with biblical teachings. Homosexuality was alien to the cultural orientation of Ghanaians and Africans in general, he pointed out, and stressed therefore that the society, individuals and groups must kick against it. Most Rev. Pratt made the declaration during the inauguration of the Goaso Diocese of the Methodist Church on Sunday at Goaso in the Asunafo North Municipality. This brings to 18 the number of Dioceses of the Church in the country. The occasion was also used to induct Right Rev. Oswald Samuel Kwadwo Boakye as the first Bishop of the Diocese, and Mrs. Elizabeth Owusu as the first Diocesan Lay Chairperson. Most Rev. Pratt tasked the newly-inducted Bishop and the Lay Chairperson to always stand for the truth, put their trust in the Lord, and be guided by the Spirit of God at all times. The Presiding Bishop further asked all Methodists to lead exemplary lives to the glory of God. Among the personalities who witnessed the ceremony were the Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, the Chairman of the National Peace Council, and the immediate-past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Michael Kehinde Stephen, the Archbishop of the Ibadan State of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, and Rev. Aston Villa have avoided defeat for the first time in eight matches in the Premier League, sharing a goalless draw with Manchester City at Villa Park. In their first match under new manager Remi Garde, the home side made a bright start, with Idrissa Gueye making the most of a strong spell of possession to launch a 20-yard strike towards the City goal, but the finish was just wide. The league leaders soon started to see more of the ball, but Brad Guzan was on hand to deny Aleksandar Kolarov, while Fernando missed the target moments later. Manuel Pellegrini's side continued to look the more likely as the first half progressed, with Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling both using their pace to get forward, but the Villa defence limited their chances, with Micah Richards and Ciaran Clark making a series of clearances. There was a blow to City's striking options before half time though as Wilfried Bony was forced off with an apparent hamstring injury, but Jesus Navas almost made an immediate impact after replacing the Ivorian, before seeing his cross cleared. The visitors were on the attack again early in the second half as Kolarov curled the ball in from a free kick, but Guzan parried the ball clear, before making a diving save moments later as Sterling tried to head in from a Navas delivery. City continued to dominate possession, but the Villa back four did enough to keep them out as the hour mark approached, as Jordan Amavi and Scott Sinclair got back to scramble the ball away. The visitors got forward again with 25 minutes remaining as Navas slipped the ball though to De Bruyne, but the Belgian scuffed his shot wide at the near post. There were further efforts from Pellegrini's men as the final 10 minutes approached, but Sterling and Kolarov both failed to test Guzan, before Villa started to see more of the ball. Leandro Bacuna looked to play the ball in for Jordan Ayew, but Joe Hart rushed off his line to beat the winger to the ball. Ayew was replaced by Rudy Gestede moments later as Villa sensed a chance to push for a late winner, but it was City who continued to threaten with Sterling and De Bruyne linking up again. The home side forced a controversial corner inside the final five minutes as Hart spilled a throw back from Gestede behind, resulting in the two sides clashing, but Villa could not make the most of it, with Gestede heading over. The home supporters were given a late scare as City forced a corner in stoppage time, but the crossbar denied Vincent Kompany with the header, before Fabian Delph drilled the ball just wide of the right post on the rebound. City continued to pile forward in the final moments, desperately seeking a late winner, but Guzan managed to grab a high ball into the box, ensuring that the home side claimed the point. The result keeps City at the top of the table, although second-placed Arsenal have a game in hand, while Villa remain bottom, five points from safety. Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng could take a wage cut to return to Italian Serie A club AC Milan. The German-born Ghanaian according to his agent Federico Patorello is desperate to rejoin his former club and might take a pay cut since his contract with German Bundesliga club Schalke 04 is financially lucrative. Federico Pastorello said on the Prince Boateng to AC Milan negotiation: “He's obviously really desperate [to join AC Milan], but it's a complicated situation because he's contracted to Schalke until the end of the season, which is why he might remain there, bearing also in mind the fact that the contract he has is financially lucrative. "Milan have been extraordinarily accommodating to him and I would like to thank both [general manager Adriano] Galliani and [coach Sinisa] Mihajlovic publicly for having given Prince the opportunity to train with the team, considering that at Schalke he was not permitted to train with the rest of the team.” Kevin-Prince Boateng is currently training with the Italian club after Schalke suspended him and failed to register him due to disciplinary reasons. The player has featured in two friendly games for AC Milan since he started training with the club with the recent fixture coming against rivals Inter Milan. Popular actress Yvonne Nelson has said the never-ending challenges confronting Ghana’s movie industry can be largely blamed on the lack of unity and jealousy among its stakeholders. The actress said the industry, especially English-speaking movies, is currently limping on “one leg” and risks a total collapse. According to her, stakeholders do not wish each other well but rather look out for negatives to discredit each other to the detriment of the entire industry. “It looks like there is too much envy in the movie industry. Instead of focusing on building the industry, when something happens and it is negative, they want to capitalize on it. It is like everybody wants to suck your blood out. When something is negative then they are happy. It saddens me and that is why we are where we are now. The movie industry is like on one leg. A year will come that we will shoot only two English movies. “It is because of jealousness. It is that attitude that when someone does something, they say that that person is being too known…We are not united,” she told Sunyani-based Suncity 97.1 Radio last week when she spoke about her ban by Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) in 2010. Yvonne said it is about time the industry stakeholders united and supported each other while eschewing any form of jealousness. “Nigerians actually look at us and laugh at us and ask what are these people doing? And it’s because we are not united,” she added. Yvonne’s concerns follow a recent claim that Ghana’s English movie industry is collapsing. A number of other stakeholders pointed at different reasons. Some persons actually believe the increase in the number of actors/actresses producing their own movies and playing lead roles is a reason the movie industry is collapsing. But others too believe the industry is not collapsing. source: http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=258 |
A 23-year-old boy from Dayiri in the Upper West Region has been denied admission into medical school because he scored “B” in English Language. The University for Development Studies (UDS) Medical School denied him admission because the available slots had been filled by students with better grades. English Language is a core subject and a good grade is considered critical to an overall aggregate score. Maxwell Dipuutey made (As) in all his courses except English Language for which he got a “B3”. Maxwell is the second child of his father’s sixteen children. “One of the things that compels me to do medicine is the fact that I did not grow to see my mother and my three siblings. I was told they died of some common disease,” he told Joy News’ Martina Bugri. Maxwell read General Science at Nandom Senior High School also in the Upper West Region in 2014. According to him, he had to struggle on his own to acquire his basic and secondary education. “I engaged in galamsey on vacations so I could pay for my school fees,” he said. Maxwell applied for medicine at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) after he completed senior high school. He was denied the option so he took the Medical Laboratory Technician course he was offered at KNUST. https://cdn.ghanaweb.com/imagelib/pics/36338198.295.jpg "I realised I could still do my medicine so I reapplied for it," he stated. He deferred his course at KUNST after his first year there and applied for medicine in UDS this year. He was offered a Medical Laboratory Technician course again. “I still desire to read medicine because my people need help,” Maxwell said. But his dream to become a medical doctor to save lives of rural people is gradually dimming because he failed to make an “A” in English Language. source: http://www.speakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=251&p=495#p495 |
