Bangkok| 8 year old Mai Li Fay, from Bangkok, is far from living the usual life of a girl her age. Everyday, thousands of people gather to the front of her family’s house to get a chance of seeing and possibly touching the young girl, a gesture which both buddhists and hindu pilgrims seem to perceive as a garantee of good fortune.

According to the country’s top medical expert, Dr Ping Lao, the young girl suffers a very rare syndrome known as the Serpentosis Malianorcis or Jing Jing’s disease, which gives her lower body a distinct reptilian form and aspect. Only a handful of such cases have been recorded throughout history, so the scientific knowledge accumulated about the pathology is rather limited and there is no cure in sight at the moment.

The woman while narrating her story and testifying to the goodness of God in the presence of their congregation, said she was already confirmed dead by doctors and narrated how her spirit left her body and what she saw in the other realm: “What I experienced was like being a drama piece.

I saw myself coming out of my body, and going into a white cloud. I didn’t know where I was going, but I was asked to look down, only to see my husband, children been consoled, as my burial was been planned.

The Lagos State Assembly yesterday announced a N1.25million reward for anyone with useful info on the dastard act perpetuated on two women by some men in Ejigbo in 2013.

During a stakeholders meeting on this issue held at Alausa Secretariat yesterday, Mr Ajibola Adeyeye who is the Chairman Ad hoc committee set up by the Assembly to investigate the incident announced the reward token.
“Anybody that gives information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrators of the heinous act shall be given N1 million. And I will add the sum of 250,000 from my private account to increase the sum to N1.25million” He said.
No leads have been made since the video surfaced on the internet a few months back. Lawmakers have commenced hearing on the case.

The Nigeria Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah who just escaped from the 255 Million naira bulletproof car scandal has moved into another acid bathe.

Report has it that the MBA certificate she presented to the senate as a ministerial candidate was fake.

Her resume, which she presented to the Senate as a ministerial nominee in 2011, indicated she obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from St. Paul’s College Lawrenceville, Virginia, United States.

But SaharaReporters has learned from the President of the college that it has never in its 125-year history had a graduate school or graduate program.

The Provost Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Institutional Development said in response to our inquiries, “We don’t offer any graduate programs here.”

Similarly, the school’s website states: “Saint Paul’s College is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate [bachelor’s] degrees.” There is no mention of graduate degrees.

The Minister’s documentation shows she received an undergraduate degree in accounting from the college in 1982, but Dr. Claud Flythe, St. Paul’s current president, could neither confirm nor deny this during a phone conversation with SaharaReporters. Further verification with the Office of Alumni Affairs is also currently impossible, the school said, because the college has been closed since June 2013 to loss of its accreditation.

21 year old acid victim Naomi Oni was disfigured for life after an unknown person wearing a Niqāb threw acid in her face as she walked home from work on Sunday December 30th 2012 in Lodge Avenue Dagenham, east London.

Naomi only described her attacker as a woman wearing an Islamic veil. Over a year later, police has been able to identify the person behind the veil. It was her jealous 21 year old friend, Mary Konye.

According to new reports released by police and tendered in court, Mary, a student at Hertfordshire university, disguised herself in a Niqāb, which showed only her eyes and closely followed Naomi home and allegedly poured the acid on her when they got to a deserted area. She fled the scene immediately after.

Naomi suffered horrific burns on her face and chest and was left scarred for life.

Mary Konye, who has since been arrested and facing trial, had been Naomi’s friend since secondary school. Mary had always been jealous of Naomi, the court heard, and when they fought Mary decided she wanted Naomi disfigured for life and attacked her with acid. Naomi Oni’s lawyer said in court today:

‘Naomi will tell you about her friendship with the defendant. In particular she will tell you how in the past they had an up and down relationship and how the defendant had admitted to her that on one occasion in anger she threatened to throw acid at Naomi.

‘There was a reason why the defendant would have chosen to make such an unusual sort of threat. In the past the two of them had discussed a young woman called Katie Piper.

The Joint Military Task Force (JTF) yesterday in Rivers State arrested six youths bearing seven AK47 rifles around Ekporo Road on their way to Ogu.

Among them was Daniel Ibito-Anga, who parades himself and is known in Ogu Bolo as Security Adviser/PA to Senator George Sekibo (Rivers East Senatorial zone) and Evans Bipi, the Rivers State Assemblyman who was recently stopped by a court from parading himself as the Speaker of the Assembly.

Others arrested gave their names as Sunday Elisha, Uche Jenikachi, Ibinabo Lawson, and Okechukwu Okoro.

In addition to the rifles, the men had 146 rounds of 7.62mm Special life ammunition and 10 life magazines among others.

They were stopped on the basis of their suspicious movement as they headed for Ogu Bolo Local Government Area in an off white Land Rover jeep with registration number JJ441BZ.

It’s crazy how quickly time is going by. Another year has already begun. Every year, I make goals for myself and can never seem to accomplish them all. It’s like I try to cram all of these tasks — for instance, starting a company, winning the lottery, getting a book deal, creating a TV show, etc. — into a year, but most are not actually all that realistic (#AmbitousPeopleProblems). Like, I’m probably not going to become famous overnight, right? However, beyond the many things I hope to accomplish some time in the near future, there are a couple of things I — and you — should do in the new year no matter what.

Here are 10 things every 20-something should do in 2014:

1. Be active. Whether you’re going to the gym twice a day every day or you’re taking walks around your neighborhood three times a week, make sure you are doing some sort of physical activity on the regular. Don’t say you’re too busy for it… we’re all busy. You just need to make time for it (especially if you sit at a desk all week long). Whether that time is on the weekend, at 5:00 a.m. every day, or right before you go to bed, make it happen. Five minutes of crunches is better than nothing.

2. Take a vacation. We are given mandatory vacation days for a reason. Don’t use them all on days for appointments and visiting home. Go somewhere warm! Go somewhere romantic! Go somewhere exotic and different. You have your own money now. And you certainly deserve it.

3. Have a crazy night(s) out. No, you don’t have to get wasted every time you go out. You don’t even have to drink every time you go out. In fact, you don’t even need to go out that much. But make sure you have at least one wild night this year when you do go out (preferably more than one). And by wild night, I of course mean drink so much that you do stupid things you will most definitely regret the next morning while puking up pizza in the toilet. Everyone needs a good story every now and then.

4. Think. Think before you spend. Think before you eat. Think before you tweet. Think before you drink. A problem with us 20-somethings is that we rarely think — we just DO. We have (barely any) money, so we spend it. We hate saying no, so we constantly find ourselves eating poorly and drinking way too often. We are under pressure by Instagram and feel the need to add a filter to every single picture we take and then post it on all social media sites we use. We tweet whatever is on our mind. And we post things on Facebook in the heat of the moment. This year, think before you do any of the above. Please.

5. Cook something. As a 20-something, you need to learn to cook. You should already know how to cook pasta and eggs — and know how to use the oven. Now, spice up your pasta and eggs with new recipes… and of course learn what to do with meat, whether it’s in a crock pot, the oven, the stove, or on a grill. Of course, microwavable meals are nice when you worked late or are just way too busy. But to be healthy, you must cook! I’m not saying turn into a chef… but look easy recipes up online. Cooking is really not that bad.

1. Oga at the Top (Shem Obafaiye)
The (former) Lagos State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Shem Obafaiye subjected himself and his organization to global ridicule when he could not mention the organization’s official website during a heated live Channels interview.

2. Tonto Dike
We don’t know why Tonto Dike irritates many; maybe it’s her croaking voice on those songs she released this year, her queer Twitter vocab, the way she flaunts the use of illegal drugs or the absolute ‘I-don’t-give-a f@ck-what-you-think-about-me’ attitude she goes about with.

3. Beverly Osu
Nigerians expressed disgust and disappointment when thier representative to the last Big Brother Africa reality show, Beverly Osu had sex in the house. Until her, no Nigerian housemate had been that physical in the house.

4. Maheeda’s unclad gallery on Instagram
Caroline ‘Maheeda’ Sam made sexy look stupid in 2013 with her constant unclad ‘selfies’ on Instagram. We guess she was trying to impress us but the Pop singer-turned-Gospel act just looked real thirsty for fame. Then she went on to claim she was just trying to make young women feel more aware of their bodies. We’ll just call that the ‘Gospel according to Maheeda‘

5. Losing Saka to MTN
Telecoms giant MTN snatched actor Saka from Etisalat to become its ambassador in its mobile number portability campaign. This move was viewed in the corporate world as a major blow to Etisalat; with great lessons for brand managers and their agencies.

6. Funke Akindele’s marriage collapse
Funke Akindele’s marriage to Almaroof Oloyede, a hitherto married man ended abruptly after a little over a year owing to cases of infidelity and irreconcilable difference. And the accusations and counter-accusations that followed were messy, to put it mildly.

7. Impromptu concerts at celebrity weddings
While we were glad to see our favourite celebs get married this year, we wonder why the ceremonies became impromptu concerts. Why for example was Phyno allowed to perform ‘Ghost mode‘ at Peter Okoye‘s wedding? WHY?!

I don’t care if you’re with Kanye West, you can’t forget your root. I won’t call anybody else’s name but I will call his because it hurts. His own hurts very deep. And he never tried to reach out to me. It’s not like we parted on fighting terms. He told me he had to go to London and he went. And when he came back it was Don Jazzy, and I said OK, that’s fine. And what he did worked and I’m very proud of him, the love I had for him, that’s why it hurts more. He should have come out to say no, I don’t know why you people are saying all this, I didn’t give OJB N7million, maybe a part of him felt embarrassed because at the end of the day, really, are you not supposed to do something?”

A 34-year-old woman, Mrs. Alexandra Ossai, has accused her Lebanese boss, Kaveh Noine, of causing her to lose her seven-month-pregnancy after he kicked her in the stomach.

Currently at a private hospital in the Fagba area of Lagos State, Ossai had to have an emergency surgery four days after the kick to save her life as the kick damaged her placenta.

According to Punch, Ossai, who until December 13, 2013, was a supervisor with a Lebanese owned firm, Toppan Printing Company, alleged that Noine assaulted her many times during her eight months stay at the company.

She said:
“I started working at Toppan in April. I earn N17,000 salary and work from Monday to Saturday.
Anytime Noine was annoyed, he would beat the person he was angry with. Sometimes, he would throw whatever he can lay his hands on at the person.
Prior to that incident, Noine had slapped me many times.

Noine had said he would hold me responsible for the shortcomings of the people I supervised. As a result, I often assisted my subordinates in their duties to make sure that Noine had nothing to complain about.”

However, Ossai said on December 12 2013, Noine had flown into a rage when he noticed something on the floor in her section.
“It was a container for a drug. That is what we do; we produce packets for drugs and perfumes. So when Noine saw one of such packets on the floor, he was so angry that he gave me a blow to the chest,” she recalled.

She said Noine subsequently went into his office and typed a termination letter for Ossai, which she refused to sign.
Her refusal allegedly enraged him further and after verbally abusing her, he was said to have told her that it was her last warning.
The following day, Ossai ran into Noine while coming from his secretary’s office. Noine allegedly dragged Ossai back to the office and called her a wicked woman.
Ossai said:
“He said I looked like a mad person. After abusing me, he hit me on my neck twice. Then, without warning, he kicked my stomach with his knee. Some co-workers were there but they did not intervene. I felt a sharp pain in my stomach.”

The mother of one, whose younger brother and sister also worked in the same company, said she prevailed on her siblings not to attack Noine when they heard the news.
I never for once told my husband what I was going through at work. I didn’t want him to come and fight Noine. I pleaded with my siblings not to fight,” Ossai said.

Although the pains eventually subsided after two days, it was learnt that in the early hours of Monday, Decemeber 16, 2013, Ossai began to bleed.
She was rushed to a private clinic at Fagba.
She was told that her placenta had been damaged as a result of the kick and that she had to undergo emergency surgery to save her life.
She said:
“I didn’t know that my baby had died until two days after the surgery. I was told my baby lost his face too due to the kick.”
